UCS-Ultimate collectors, not ultimate playset in my opinion. Just because it's expensive doesn't make it a UCS set. Just because a car is expensive doen't mean it's a Ferrari

LEGO has shifted the UCS term since 2014- all the sets it has appeared on the box of since then include minifigures that fit in the vehicle, so play sets like the new Hoth one I'd imagine will have it on the box.

The only UCS set that has any kind of rumour (which can be backed up with a source) is the Hoth set and at the moment we have nothing to go by other than the cost and some reference which may or not be included from a recent Lego animation. I don't think we need a new thread just for that.

Thats exactly the point. BECAUSE there is so few informations about those sets, that minimum amount of info gets lost in the large number of pages.

But maybe I'm the only one...

It's an old argument but Ultimate Collectors doesn't say Ultimate Vehicle... It's just a large set. R2 was a UCS set as was the bust of Darth Maul. I think it's reasonable to consider very large location based sets as UCS .

The AT-ST or the Lambda Shuttle didn't have the UCS label on the front but they're considered UCS.

...and I'd much prefer an Aston Martin over a Ferrari anyway ;)

When will we see images of the UCS Hoth Echo

Base?

Maybe after force Friday when the sets are officially released. If the street date for hoth base is truly October, one month before it along with a designer video is very reasonable timing (most if not all exclusives this year were officially announced one month before release).

I just feel a UCS set is for a collector of that genre to keep and display(which is what most collectors would do with their collection) not something to really play with. I see UCS as the far extreme of lego junior or Duplo.

It's just my opinion but a 'playset' style set seems more for 'kids' and not so much an 'ultimate' collectors item. If you consider the vehicle UCS sets are not usually built to minifig scale but try to be as scale accurate and detailed as realistically possible as lego pieces allow. A set like an ewok village is just a large scale(and admittedly fairly detailed) kids playset. I just think sets like this 'cheapen' the previous vehicle and character UCS sets.

I'll take the Ewok Village as a UCS set over the bust of Darth Maul anyday. It's all a matter of opinion and it's been discussed at length previously so there's no real right or wrong (at least not for me).

I just mentioned Hoth as a UCS set as that's how it has been referred to previously in the thread. Of course if it has UCS label on it then I suppose there can be no argument but that'll be clear once we get any official box images.

I tend not to play with LEGO either but I do enjoy play features. In that regard I much prefer UCS sets that have been released recently. They make for better display pieces in my opinion due it them being more interactive. The original more static UCS sets never really peaked my interest due to their lack of movable parts and/or articulation. There's a certain appeal to LEGO that gets lost for me when it's just a static model, however detailed and accurate it may be. Like huge starships without any kind of interior are just hugely disappointing for me.

That the ewok village and (most likely) the hoth base aren't really minifig scale doesn't really bother me, if not only because a truly minifig scale model of those sets would never fit into an average home.

I absolutey agree with you. I also enjoy action features.

Yep, the UCS argument has been a long one and, as said above, is a matter of opinion. I mean I don't really care whether something is UCS or not, I'm just happy with the sets :classic:

Just an idea:

Wouldn't it make sense to open a new thread for UCS rumors and pictures?

I'm personally not much interested in small sets and don't want to read over 5 pages everyday just to find out that there is nothing new about UCS sets and running in danger to be spoilered about the new movie. Or even overread a post that is about an upcoming UCS set.

I don't think it'd be that useful, honestly. There aren't many UCS sets released each year, and because they're exclusive to certain retailers, we don't get a lot of reliable rumors about them, so the majority of the discussion about them always ends up being speculation, not new info. That also means there usually won't be anything new to discuss in such a topic, but if past rumor topics are any indication, some members will continue to post in it just because it's there. And as with all proposals to split major topics, where do we draw the line? We don't want to end up with a bunch of rumor topics, because that'd be confusing to new members, it'd take space away from other topics on the first page of the forum, and it'd be a pain for both staff and members to keep all the discussion properly split up.

When we get any reliable new information (with the exception of what TLG has requested we avoid sharing, of course), a member of the staff will update the first post of this topic, and we'll edit the tag to reflect the last date the first post has been modified. It's still not specific to UCS sets, but it's just information and no speculation.

Just found something interesting:

@geekster_blog said on Twitter that they'd be doing a review of two Force Awakens sets.

They said they recieved the sets directly from The LEGO Group to review as a world exclusive.

There's several images on their Twitter account to prove that they're probably not lying...

Are we about to see the first official acknowledgement of these sets?

Exciting! This hopefully will give us a much more in-depth look at these two sets and the minifigs. Wonder when the reviews will be up...

They've actually started to hit shelves in the UK which has surprised the hell out of me as I don't usually see stuff like that.

There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?

The thing is that there is already a review of the new Falcon on the internet.

I'm well aware of that, but that's not really relevant at the moment. I mean, we already have seen the 'official' images of the sets, but they weren't released directly by TLG. The reason the "World Exclusive" review is significant is because it very well may be the first media officially endorsed by TLG. Bye-Bye embargo. (Possibly.)

Even if it's not official, it'll still be our first in-depth look at the specific two sets. The handful of people who own them have yet to deliver a proper look at them. For example, there's one user on Reddit that owns 3 sets, but he doesn't even seem like he knows how to upload images into a comprehensive review or anything like that.

Exactly.

Yesterday they posted this...

[WORLD EXCLUSIVE] The first official pictures of two new @starwars The Force Awakens @LEGO_Group box sets!

....along with a pic of a black vehicle and a certain shuttle.

World Exclusive?

Are they joking? A pic of the black ship has been on the web for a month!

that's great news. It probably means that Lego youtubers such as Brichshow and Jangbricks are going to start reviewing this sets soon. Can't wait!

I hope so! I absolutely love JANGBRiCKS' reviews. Although, it should be noted that he does not recieve sets from TLG, whereas TheBrickShow does.

JANG is way better by default, but that's just my opinion
