Nokturn Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 (edited) That video above pretty much nails the coffin shut.. the wings do not fold down into a V-shape like the ship seen in the trailer. I am now almost certain they are indeed two different ships. Makes you wonder why that ship that is prominently shown in the trailer did not get a set though. I still don't think that they are two different ships. TLG very likely had to work off of early concept art and info. I'm guessing that the ship was changed sometime during the film's development, but it was too late for TLG to change their design; the set had likely already been finalized and had gone into production. If you remember, the first leaked image that we recieved was in fact the cover of the instructions for Kylo's Shuttle, then only known as the "Lead Villain Vehicle." This was just a little while after the second teaser had debuted. EDIT: The real final nail in the coffin. Looks like one of us is going to have to come up with a way to modify the set. I'll be purchasing the set at midnight, so I'll give it a shot! Edited August 26, 2015 by Nokturn Quote

This was just a little while after the second teaser had debuted. It's possible. In fact, the shape of the wings, and how they are very much extended upwards, reminds me a lot of this early TFA concept art.. At the time, this was rumored to be the lead villain vehicle, before the second trailer. Then maybe they kept the wings, but the fuselage shape changed, to look less like a TIE.. then they added fold-out wings, but it was already too late to put that in the set? Weird. Quote
GallardoLU Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 here is my dilemma with the teaser ship.. at this point the one and only piece of evidence that this ships wings should tilt is from the teaser (which is irrefutable) and that is also the one and only place that ship is ever seen in any of the leaked info we've scene so far. simultaneously the Lego ship is based on one of two possibilities: A. its based on that ship we only glimpsed or B. its based on something they haven't even shown us(officially). now there were leaks of a ship very similar to the Lego set in question and none of those leaks indicate the winds tilt, but do indicate the tip extends, also Hasbro has also has the same ship in some of their merchandise and so far as we can tell at this point their ship also doesn't tilt its wings. leading me to believe that Lego, Hasbro, and the leak (not the teaser) are all correct. the only thing left to discern is weather or not the teaser is the shuttle or a different command ship.... Ultron Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 That special TIE could still be in the movie. It would make a cool set. Quote
BalrogJ Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 That special TIE could still be in the movie. It would make a cool set. I hope so, I hope so very much. I love all things TIE, and this looks like a badass mix of a Royal Guard TIE (from EU) and a shuttle, so that would be an instant buy from me. Guess this Command Shuttle won't be a day one buy anymore, here I come Special Forces TIE Fighter! Quote
CM4Sci Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 There's some sort of global unboxing event where all of the new TFA toys will be 'officially unveiled' going on all day on the 3rd. Quote
afolaus Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Geekster has one review up, for the big grey villain ship. Thanks. When it hits September 4th somewhere in the world... I'll have a review for one of these suckers up. If you intend to be first with your review you might want to get that review out sooner ;) Quote
Nokturn Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 There's some sort of global unboxing event where all of the new TFA toys will be 'officially unveiled' going on all day on the 3rd. Correct. I posted this a couple of pages back. I just may be crazy enough to stay up for 18 hours straight to watch the entire livestream, even though I've seen all of the products that I wish to. Quote
Kitfistonator Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 What? Lego fried my Youtube account for posting pictures of these sets while posting them in an official catalogue Lego has truly let the cat out of the bag. This same exact thing happened to me. They took mine down and gave me a copyright strike too Quote

lowlead Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 ...EDIT: The real final nail in the coffin. Looks like one of us is going to have to come up with a way to modify the set.... Just one of us?? I see a potential building contest here I really like the mechanism for the parts that we KNOW fold down - looks great, and a little lever included, too. Quote
Darth_Brick360 Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 If Captain Phasma truly has no face print, that's kind of lazy on Lego's part in my eyes. We've never seen Boba Fett's face and he got a unique face print It's not the biggest deal I guess but it would've been nice... Very true, but I think everyone knew that Boba was a male human. For all we know, captain phasma could be an alien race. Or maybe Disney told TLG not to reveal her face. If her face is shown in the movie, than I agree with you, it is lazy. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Lazy? It can't be due to laziness since even some of the mooks have new exclusive face prints (e.g. the female Officer and one of the FO Crew in set #75104) Well, they're exclusive at least for the time being To me it's obvious they simply don't want to (or rather aren't allowed to) reveal her appearance. We don't even know whether we'll see her face in TFA Technically, we can't even be sure whether she has any dialogue or not, but the latter would be mighty silly Boba Fett on the other hand has got a face because he's A) a clone of Jango Fett so we can assume what he must have looked like in the OT and B) was first released in minifig form 20 years after TESB, so there was no secrecy involved anymore. It even took TLG ten more years to finally give him a face Edited August 27, 2015 by Lego-Freak Quote

DarthPotato Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Wow, so is that black face print on the First Order Crew in the Command Shuttle new? I'm surprised but really happy LEGO did that. It's nice to get more diversity, even if the characters are wearing helmets. It's actually kind of funny that the First Order Crew get specific faces while a major character like Phasma just gets a blank black head. Quote

I can't kind a recent head of that colour that doesn't have facial hair i.e. Winston from GB or Barry from Jurassic World, and that is also different from Finn. The other guy shares the same head with the resistance fighter and resistance pilot, the head first seen on the new Naboo Pilot from 75092. Edited August 27, 2015 by afolaus Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Those arrows can be seen on the back of the box, as well. If you check some of my older posts, I've been an advocate of that theory for awhile. Glad someone is seeing the same thing that I am. I still hope that the wings fold out, just like in the second teaser. Nope. On the dark shuttle, the (upper) wings, extended portion swing up, while remaining vertically oriented, then slide straight down in a slot into a locked position. The lower wings fold out from flat for landing to vertical for flight. The OTHER shuttle, which is light-colored has wings that fold out to a V-shape. Two ships. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 As usual in the Star Wars theme, the headpieces are superb Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I love that the review manages to skim over the most talked about feature almost completely - namely do the wings fold into the V shape - not showing any photos of the wing mechanism at all! I asked him to add pictures of the wings movements/folding. Quote
Nokturn Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I've already adressed this. ^ No offense, but you really should read through the recent posts in the thread before posting. Edited August 27, 2015 by Nokturn Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Based on the Hasbro catalogue having two ships, one WHITE and the other BLACK, that fit the LEGO ship and the preview ship, I still think it's two, similar, but ultimately different ships. I mean, we got three TIE variants and two shuttle variants just in the OT, why is it hard to believe there could be two shuttle variants in TFA? ...and if you'd read recent posts, you'd see I pointed that out yesterday. Edited August 27, 2015 by rollermonkey Quote
Nokturn Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 You cannot definitively say that it is two different ships. Is it possible? Sure. But it's also possible that my theory is correct. And the truth is, we aren't likely to find out until the film is released. Quote
Fives Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Looks to me like aspects of that TIE shuttle became part of the new TIE variation that has red on its hull. I doubt we'll ever see a ship like that any time soon. Its a little to Imperial. The First Order seems to have its own style. Quote
Lunchietey Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I vote for there being two different ships. A certain persons 'command shuttle' has lower wings that extend well below the main fuselage of the ship. The V-Winged ship in the trailer seems to be a VERY large ship, significantly bigger than the transports(and something like a Tiderium sized ship) and the wings do not appear to extend below the main hull at all. I think they are two ships, one much larger than the other, you can see(when you include the other 'tie' shuttle concept art talked above in post 8602 that there is certainly a common design theme amongst some of the newer ships.
