QUICKRICH Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 HELL YES! I've always loved the LEGO Star Wars commercials. So awesome. I'm can't stop myself from rewatching it, I think I want the X-wing more than kylos rens ship at this moment until I see a proper review on the set. Maybe a set to buy on double points weekend in October that was posted previously. Quote
Mahtion Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Definitely getting these two along with Rey speeder day one! I took pics of almost every scene from this commercial. Such a fun Lego ad, Kylo looks like a jerk trying to mow down poor bb8. Quote
karmajay Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 That advert definitely puts me on the fence on Kylo Ren's ship. I was not super interested in it but that may it look much better. Still just getting MF, X wing and Tie next weekend though. Quote

Lego star wars force awakens TV advert containing 2 of our most wanted sets for this wave. https://youtu.be/_tcj1yA65Jk Cool commercial, cheers. Kylo Ren's shuttle still looks like a dog's breakfast in my eyes though. The random array of plate undersides and 2 x 2 round plates with round bottoms on the inside of the wings are plain ugly! Quote
Lynx Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I just saw a close-up of Kylo's hooded version. Like a lot more than the helmet, although I think the printing doesn't do justice to how much the mask extents past the chin. Quote
Fives Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) One of the biggest issues with Ren's helmet is that it LOOKS too big, but it may not be too big once in-hand. I remember when we first got images of the Iron Man helmet back in 2012 and a lot of people were upset with how oversized and awkward it looked, but in the flesh ( or brick, I suppose ), it doesn't look nearly as bad as people thought. My main problem with the helmet is that we don't know how often Kylo Ren will have his hood down. I kinda wish they'd done a helmet/hood hybrid, but maybe that would've looked even worse than what we've got. Also, am I the only one who thinks that line in the commercial, "Build the X-Wing and save the droid!" sounds hilarious. Why not just call him BB-8 Edited August 29, 2015 by Fives Quote

Why not just call him BB-8 I also feel the line in the commercial sounds dumb and barely blend well in the commercial.I prefer lines that sounds like this :Build the T-70 X wing Starfighter, load Poe Dameron in the cockpit, switch the wings into attack mode and blast off to save the day! The line that sounds like that will be better. Quote
Vodnik Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 To be honest I'm more and more disappointed with the X-wing wings design... Not only they don't form a single continuous surface when closed as they should (I already knew about it before though), but I now see that there is a one plate high gap between the front and rear (or upper and lower as we would call them in a classic X-wing design) wings... It is still a cool looking set, but those wings bother me a lot. I'm not sure yet whether to skip this set or get it and try to mod it... Quote

But that's why he has o hood I. Something tells me almost everyone is going to use hood instead of helmet on Ren. At least hood looks more o less proportional. jhaelego Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I think Ren's helmet looks fine. Minifig heads by definition are much larger than they proportionally should be, so of course a helmet surrounding that will look large. I don't think it looks unnaturally large however. Couple that with the fact that we haven't actually seen Kylo Ren with his helmet on without a hood. Quote
Richpepperell Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 When I comes to Kylo Ren, I think the helmet looks fine. I'm a bit more concerned about the lack of a face/hair. In the officially released images I can think of at least one where he is hoodless and maskless, and I'd bet there will be a number of times on screen like this. I'm thinking the 'Ezra' hairpiece will be suitable at the moment. Maybe we'll get a different KR minifigure next year too. Quote
Cyberfounder Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Why does it matter to you? I, like most people here enjoy the thrill of buying and building new sets when they come out. And I have been burned before when I have missed out on getting sets right away and have had to wait a while them to be restocked. As djmangunz said, it's very possible to miss out on the initial stock of sets, and then having to wait a relatively long time to get more. I have no patience to deal with that kind of stuff. Call me entitled, but everyone deserves a chance to own these products at the exact same time, and it does suck that we sometimes have to deal with waiting for them. That's why I love midnight releases. No waiting, you just get to buy your product, go home, and have fun with it. “PATIENCE YOU MUST HAVE my young padawan” Quote

We saw Kylo Ren mask less just for the photo, I don't think he will be seem without mask in the movie. And if he will I am sure Lego will make his face withou mask sometime next year. Quote

It is the only thing preventing it looking perfect to represent the ship it is supposed to. It will also be interesting to see how other people achieve it, that at some point, the perfect method will become apparant that will be *the* way to fix what TLG didnt, that it will be the method most people will use... Like lots of people who want the ultimate looking x-wing, have mike psiaki's version (me included :p) Quote
Nokturn Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I absolutely LOVE that commercial. This is exactly the kind of thing that I was talking about when I said that the sets needed more advertising/exposure. Stuff like this will get kids excited for the sets. It even gets me more excited, and I didn't know that was possible! Quote
Tariq j Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 That was an excellent commercial, lets hope we see a TIE Fighter/ Falcon trailer next! Quote
Lego Fett Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I always find LEGO commercials too cheesy When i first saw phase II vader's helmet it looked waay to big. But when i got him, it looked perfect. So Kylo Ren's helmet may have the same effect. Quote
Terrynomnoms Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 ??? What??? I don't get this reference! Anyway, they had numerous 'Rey's Speeders' on the shelves in John Lewis in Aberdeen. The onslaught begins.... oops sorry! I was chatting to a guy on reddit who found a load of Rey's Speeders at John Lewis and I assumed it was you :/ Sorry! Quote
