Darth Mallet Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Basically you are right. Nevertheless - in this special case - an OT fan could be disappointed without even seeing pis. If this really were a REBELS set, we can expect to get the stormie design of the series. This would disappoint people like me who long for a small set containig regular stormies of the new OT design. Except for the ISD they are hard to get. But OT fans want them and intend to buy multiples of a BP or at least small set. We want the 'original' soldiers and not the comic dudes. With the REBELS series deserving and getting a lot of attention in regards of upcoming sets, there is plenty of chance to throw in a stormie here and there. Meanwhile OT sets become few and far between. Therefore i see enough reason to be disappointed by the mere knowlegde of the ITT being one more REBELS set. Lol, its ok mate, I was just kidding hence me emoticons. It was more of a gentle dig at people that moan about pretty much everything from price to design to a set not including a minifig that they thought should of been included. I know its all about opinions etc but how anyone can moan about the new Slave 1 for example is beyond me. Most people have been waiting forever for it and then when pictures emerge of it looking like a piece of art some people still find something to moan about. Just make me giggle.... Quote
Galactic13 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Much like what happened when they did The Clone Wars sets. Prequel sets were few and far between and in its place was The Clone Wars sets with those AWFUL minifigs!!!!!!! At least this time around I can use the minifig heads for other things rather than with The Clone Wars where they only looked good on CW figs. Quote

Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 ^Oh, no way! I can get one extra Stormie for $200? (I'm not trying to be sarcastic). My point is that Lego makes all of the generic soldiers in expensive sets: Stormies only appearing in the ISD and Ghost, while for $13 we get two royal guards and two gunners. It is really getting ridiculous. Oh, and speaking of great minifigs in overpriced sets, that T-16 is going to end up being, like, the exclusive for the year: $300 for a UCS T-16, and they'll throw in Beru, Biggs, a Tusken, a Bantha, and a womp rat. Because, you know.....why not? We want it, they make it severely overpriced. And....we still buy it. Quote
Galactic13 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Tis not true. Why does Lego make Battle Backs??? So we can get four generic minifigs for $13 to build our armies. It just depends on what types of troops they do each year. But you for get that we got a Stormtrooper in a battle pack a few years back with the new design for that year. Lego will probably do the same thing in the coming years. As Yoda might say "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to no Stormtroopers in battle packs and suffering from fans." Lego will probably do the same thing in the coming years. As Yoda might say "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to no Stormtroopers in battle packs and suffering from fans." Yeah, a single Stormtrooper in a 13$ set is so great. The price for those guys is still around the 5$ mark on Bricklink, which Lego shouldn´t care about since it´s second hand market. Same with the AOTC Clone Troopers, that Battlepack was just a disaster. Soldiers should be made available easier. Changing it to 4 figs of which 2 are different is a good idea but now they are mishandling it by making BPs of soldiers you don´t need multiples of. Who wants Shadow trooper armies? And why Royal Guards? The most you ever saw of them in one place in the films was the arrival of Palpatine in ROTJ, normal people can get by with only two of them and the way we always got two Guards alongside a set with Palpatine was fine. If anything they should focus on some of the high profile troopers first before veering off into random parts of the EU with Shadow Somethings or making figs of 2 minute screentime crew members like Death Star Gunners. Not that I don´t like having gunners but they could have put in two of them in the new ISD and most people would have been okay with it. Now that Lego got back to their senses that Battlepacks are armybuilders and not battles in a box they should produce figures you need the most first, since we can´t just get Battlepacks of every character, soldier, race and figure. And the Royal Guard/Death Star Gunner set doesn´t even sell well, so you don´t need to tell me kids love having more different helmet/soldier designs instead of recolors. 501st Legion ROTS style, new Stormtroopers, new Snowtroopers, new Hoth Rebels (that have white uniforms and not tan, btw.) and Wookiees. Then go to the less popular movie soldiers like Naboo guards, Gungans, all the imperial guys in the Endor bunker, maybe Ewoks since they are hard to print. Then go crazy with the thousands of clone trooper special corps from ROTS and the cartoons, needless Stormtrooper divisions, less armybuilding-friendly stuff like Separatist guards/ Senate commandos and guards and whatever else the EU has (I would really like more armored Rebel troopers like they are in the Force Unleashed games). No offense, but man.....this is nonsense. -The T-16 won't be a UCS -No way it's $ 300 (or $ 200.....or $ 100) -With Hulk_Smash's posts in mind it's unlikely Beru will be included. I think it was more a joke about how Lego handled the UCS Tumbler, Executor and Slave One. The Tumbler isn´t in scale so the figures could have been taken from the set and nobody would have bat an eye, same with Executor. The Slave One is roughly minifig scale but only has a single seat in the cockpit and will probably be full of technic beams so it is a relatively useless addition and essentially a cheap marketing gag. Venkefedo Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) The Battlepack choices have bothered me for years, too... IMO the best were some of the earliest, like the Rebel Scout Speeder pack (4 RFTs! No muss, no fuss!) and the Imperial Drop Ship (3 Stormies and a Shadow Stormie!). After that, they started going off the rails (here, have some random extra AT-AT Drivers in your Snowspeeder pack! What's that, you want to army build Rogue 2? Well guess what, you'll get one in every Hoth Rebel set!). I always felt disappointed in BPs with Battle Droid-types since they're fairly weak as figures... and even the Endor BP, which I rather liked, was unbalanced as an "army builder" since Han's team was rather small, while you really should have more stormies & scouts. Better would've been 1 stormie, 1 scout, 1 Endor Rebel, and 1 Ewok (whatever color scheme would be best for 'generics'...maybe dark bley hood on dark tan face/body?). There have been some gems, like the TOR Republic/Sith Trooper pack. Balanced, 4 unique faces, and even if the black Sith Troopers are more common, at least there's plenty of precedent for reds being reasonably common, too. I wouldn't have minded a different color scheme on one of the Republic troopers, tho, for a bit more variety... I really like the DST BP's figures, I just hate that they're included there. Had it been 2 black tunic DSTs and 2 black jumpsuit DSTs, I'd have scooped up a few. Had it been 2 tunic DSTs and the DS Gunners we got, I'd still have nabbed a couple. With the guards, excellent tho they are, I don't feel the draw to get multiple packs (tho I rather liked the gun build and dig the DSGs' heads). Another option that would've been great was 1 DSG, 2 DSTs, and 1 Royal Guard... still a lot of drawing power and better representing the BP's title. Re: the Shadow Troopers set coming up, it's most likely from Rebels, so it's not veering off into random parts of the EU... Shadowtroopers were in the Blackhole storyline and Crimson Empire, both fairly popular. Slightly different Shadowtroopers also popped up in the Jedi Outcast game (saber-wielders with green gems in their chests and different helmets/armor, but still somewhat similar). They may not have been ultra-common, but having multiple black-armored stormies as a special squad/legion is something many fans would probably quite enjoy, and TFU fans might dig having Shadow Guards (tho who knows how closely these will resemble the TFU ones... if it is indeed from Rebels, it's possible they changed the design quite a bit aside from maybe the helmet). As long as the designs are cool, I'm fine with them tapping into the EU as often as possible... but I agree it'd be a great business decision for them to do up some new sets more like the early ones with the new stormies and maybe 1 DST (in place of a Shadow Stormie). What will net more sales for Lego? A $12 set with 3 or 4 great-looking stormtroopers, or a $100 set with one stormtrooper? Can't wait to see pics so we'll know exactly what we're getting with that Shadow Stormie set (and the ITT; still kinda hoping the stormie in the Ghost set is a one-off, as there are much better character options to reflect the McQuarrie inspiration in Rebels than their stylized stormie features--everyone would enjoy it more if the regular stormies, TIE pilots, etc blended in with our OT figures) Arm printing. Not only that, but it's an ESB Boba Fett, while the Desert Skiff one is ROTJ. A subtle distinction in Lego minifigures, due to printing limitations, but it does make a difference. Hasbro fans know well the differences between ESB, ROTJ, Prototype, Prototype White, etc... now we need a new ROTJ Fett with arm printing to show off the dark red gauntlets! Venkefedo Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Minifigs may help sets sell, but IMO stormtroopers shouldn't be one of those figures, not in large/UCS sets anyway. People want MULTIPLE stormtroopers, and BPs with stormies will outsell $80+ sets with single stormies in 'em any day, which is much better for everyone involved (including TLG). Or, if they must throw them in heavy sets, at least do it more like 7264 where there were four stormtroopers in the set... having one or two measly troopers in a $100+ set isn't gonna lure too many folks (except those who part out the sets) into buying multiple copies. Lego does make some odd choices in their figures... "Vader sells! Let's only put him in $100+ sets." "Anakin sells! Let's put him in every $20+ set we can." Quote

But I think it goes to far reading >900 posts. Could somebody help me telling what I missed? Of what I've understood from other sites, the winter 2015 line-up will consist of: Microfighters sets: 75072 ARC-170 Starfighter - ARC pilot 75073 Vulture Droid - Battle droid 75074 Snowspeeder - Snowspeeder pilot 75075 AT-AT - Snowtrooper 75076 Republic Gunship - Ep. II clone 75077 Homing Spider Droid - Super battle droid System sets: 75078 Imperial Troop Transport (Star Wars Rebels): A device that could be similar to the 7667 Imperial Dropship set released in 2008 along with four Stormtroopers - or actually different figs? 75079 Shadow Troopers: A Battle Pack with two Shadow Troopers, two Imperial Guards in black (members of the Shadow Guard Imperial?) and a vehicle. 75080 AAT: The craft would be accompanied by Jar Jar Binks, another Gungan and a Battle Droid. 75081 T-16 Skyhopper: This box contains a pilot, a Tusken Raider and Womp Rat accompanying T-16 Skyhopper. 75082 TIE Advanced Prototype (Star Wars Rebels): Three minifigs in this set including the Inquisitor 75083 AT-DP (Star Wars Rebels): A Stormtrooper (or driver? ), agent kallus and Imperial officer 75084 Wookiee Gunship (Star Wars Rebels) All info known 75085 Hailfire Droid 75087 Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter 75089 Geonosis Troopers: A Battle Pack with AT-RT and Clone Troopers apparently identical to the set 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers released in 2014, but with a brown / sand colored camouflage. 75090 Ezra’s Speeder Bike (Star Wars Rebels): Ezra Bridger and also two Stormtroopers. something with a set 75088 Senate Commando Troopers which was cancelled? Any other strong rumours? could someone help me with completing/validating the list? (I think this is also a helpful list for anyone who hasn't read this topic either in the last few weeks) Edited September 5, 2014 by TWP Quote
