I showed the sets to my neices/nephew and their only reaction was "I want the soccer ball droid". They kept asking their dad if they could get a set with him. Interesting that TLG chose to not include BB8 with Rey's speeder instead. I think that would've been a better choice due to the kid appeal of the character. These kids will probably never get BB8 unless they bricklink it or something and even still I bet the price will be less than reasonable. Their dad asked how much the x-wing costs and then immediately dismissed the idea of getting it.

No, it was smart to restrict BB8 to the expensive sets on the first wave. Those who might have settled for a cheaper set will stretch to get BB8. And those that won't even consider an $80 gift, even for the holidays - they're too cheap to be Lego's target audience in the first place. But it's not like this is the end of the world - BB8 will inevitably show up in a cheaper set in six, 12, maybe 18 months - you know he's gonna be around for all 3 movies as he's the 'new R2' - because unlike villains, who Lego prefers to keep pricelocked to expensive kits as much as possible, droid characters regularly show up in $25 sets (Jedi Starfighters, The Phantom, etc.)

I don't think the era of remakes is over. That is a statement as valid as saying, Lego won't be making Western sets or Pirates sets anymore. Even M-tron remakes have a slight chance of being done, wouldn't say never, wouldn't say definitely.

Not a good comparison - we're talking specifically about remakes within the Lego SW line. Unlicensed themes are utterly irrelevant, especially since many of them exist solely in relation to licensed themes (Pirates 2015 one-off wave being an obvious prelude to Pirates 5 merchandise). In the Lego SW line, the era of remakes is indeed dramatically, definitively over - basically everything from the OT that continues to be included in the line is bound to be a remake since so much OT has been produced, but that's not what this refers to - it's remakes of new ships and scenes.

I'd say it will take 10 years to see these remade (unless the same crafts show up in E8 or E9), and that waiting period is not uncommon. Take a look at some E1 sets and how long it took them to update them:

<snip>

Of course in Disneys hands there is much more going on with movies, TV etc., you're correct about that. But then, on the other hand, Lego is making much more SW sets these days than 10 years ago. So there is a chance all these will be remade one day. I would say it's a matter of time to see these done, but we were always talking about a long time. 10 years is a long wait (at least to me) to wait for a toy.

10 years might as well be eternity - nobody here in their right mind would want to wait a decade for a redo of Kylo Ren's shuttle or the Transporter or whatever other kits people are complaining about. In 10 years folks could be out of the hobby, could have moved on, could be living in a country where Lego is too expensive, could be dead, etc. etc. Sure, many Phantom Menace remakes took close to 10 years, but there were a lot that happened much more quickly (Republic Gunship, Grievous Starfighter, Vulture Droids, etc.) Those are the remakes that have dulled some members' senses here, making them apathetic and leading them to believe that we have not entered a dramatically new era of SW Lego. From 2006 through mid-2015 Lego had nothing new to produce outside of TCW besides remakes and reworks of existing vehicles (and covering the few vehicles that had not yet been tackled). My point is that those days are definitively done, because at most we get about 3-ish waves of Lego SW per year, and with at least 1 new SW movie and 1 new season of SW TV (not to mention video games!) releasing every single year, that leaves no time for remakes of sets from the new movies - why make a remake when there's so much unproduced material. The only way we see an updated Kylo Ren's Shuttle is if it ends up being a prominent vehicle in Episode VII, VIII, and IX, and even then, I highly doubt we'll see one for at least 6 years or more.

...Advent Calendars, too. Seriously, I love how many hard-to-get minifigs I've gotten from the ACs, like R2-Q5 and the Ewok Village Biker Scout, and this year we get a Jawa. I wouldn't be surprised if next year we get a Rebels or TFA calendar. Santa Phasma for the win!

Remember, don't buy the 2015 Advent Calendar just for the Jawa, though - we're getting 2 for ~$25 in the Droid Escape in January.

Good to know! I buy the ACs because I love getting the ACs for their own sake, though. I just wish they'd include some Episode III characters for once (other than the Phase II Trooper from last year). I'm guessing that era is done if the ACs shift to Rebels and the new movies in the future.

€90 for an X-wing, €100 for a little transport??? Thank goodness I'm not going to buy any of these sets. And even if i wanted, its not that I could with these prices. :cry_sad:

I wonder how irritated TLG actually are by this. I mean, they're selling a product that isn't the same as what their product is supposed to represent. Sure, it is very similar, but they must be thinking that there is potential to lose sales from those that would choose not to buy the shuttle because it is not an exact representation of what is seen in the film...?

Lego has it better than Hasbro and the other toy companies. At least someone who would buy a $120 Lego shuttle has the ability to correct it by removing 12pcs.

Until now, who knows the shuttle isn't perfectly similar to the one in the movie ? Some AFOLs who spend time on specialised forum, and that's it.

And after all, this problem was the same with 6205-1, the V-Wing from 2006. It's no big deal.

The color of Kylo's shuttle is tolerable. Dark grey is close enough, the wings can obviously be modified relatively easily. The windshield too if it's supposed to be red.

The fact that Finn is only in this set (and that he doesn't even have his lightsaber) is... unacceptable.

Considering the sets were all passed off early concept art, this isn't the LEGO Group's fault. I'm sure that anyone who has bought Star Wars sets before probably has a blue lightsaber, so that's an option for you at the moment.

According to rumors (won't get into detail as that should be reserved for the 2016 thread)

One of the 2016 sets is a duel between Kylo and Finn.

That seems like the opportune time to include it.

Maybe the colour of the shuttle is just artistic license. The Emperor's shuttle and X-Wings aren't exactly white either yet TLG have been doing this for years.

Plus the special TIE Fighter should have white wings not light bley. I'm sure there are other examples that I'm unable to recall at the moment.

I'm actually pretty impressed by what TLG have been able to achieve with their limited access and all the secrecy.

Come December I'm sure there will be MOCs of 75104 in black if that's the way it is in the movie.

Nope, neither of those 2 sets are set in that place.

Managed to find time to build Poe's x-wing tonight. This may have been mentioned already and I haven't noticed, but the numbering of the build steps in my booklet for the section on building the upper wings is wrong - it suddenly jumps and misses a load of numbers out. Anyone else notice this?

The x-wing is epic by the way - and the pilot helmets are supreme!

Also, new look at the command shuttle - is it black or just very very dark grey?!? http://www.starwars7news.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Kylo-Rens-Command-Shuttle.png

Speaking of hair pieces, whats a good Poe hair piece? I've been having a really tough time pinpointing which piece would look best.

I'm holding out for the new Superman hairpiece coming in January; that seems like the best fit to me.

I like the sets, minifigures, but not the prices. Especially the USD converted to Canadian Dollar. :sceptic: Love new Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, and Flametroopers :thumbup: Captain Phasma looks really cool, so do the officers, but the first time I say the leaked picture of the special forces tie, I thought the officer was wearing a pig hat

To those who've done the TIE fighter, did you have two extra red rectangle stickers left when you were done? Or did I miss something in the instructions?

I used two of them, just had two extra left.

I had the same issue. Maybe they were just extras?

Im pretty sure this the "The Pirate Transport" from 2016! Yessssss

I'm pretty sure it's not. If you know something specifily please say.

that concept art is on Jakku, that is reys digs. The pirates hangs out on yavin and or Takadona(don't recall the name.)

Jakku has Gangs/gangsters/thugs not pirates.

- And no that's not at all spoilers, its all from officialy released imagery and descriptions.

Yes, but Rey is rumoured to live in the belly of a downed AT-AT, and that artwork conveys that.
