September 11, 201410 yr Oh boy, the Hailfire droid and Geonosis Troopers look like instant buys for me. But now I'm 50/50 on the AAT, the design doesn't feel right to me? Hopefully it's just the picture making it look odd. Everything else looks solid, the Rebels sets won't appeal to me unless the show is decent. Those shadow troopers will be a fun set, I love the look of them already. Can't wait till we have better pictures!
September 11, 201410 yr ^The AAT is very likely a buy for me. I actually love the set; it captures the feel of the ship and is fairly close in detail and size (though it is small), but I don't like Episode I that much. However, I have already changed my game plan: I am thinking of getting the T-16, Shadow Troops. ITT, AAT, and Hailfire, bringing me to a total of $105.

Look at their right arm; they are bent, but still allow for them to hold a gun regular. And the Hailfire droid must have a new minifig, since their is a preliminary figure on the box. Maybe these are just not finished? ^The new guns aren't a big deal. They only appear in BPs, so as long as they don't replace the real blasters, I'm fine. We usually get extra guns in sets anyway. And I am very curious as to how the Rapid Shooters work. Apparently, Lego has a lot of confidence, since they are appearing in other themes too. I don't think a preliminary figure automatically means it's a new figure; they may not have had the intended repack figure on hand for the photo shoot. "Maybe these are not finished?" that goes with the "preliminary" status... That's one big reason why these are supposed to be confidential, not for public viewing. They're just rough ideas of what they'll be selling to retailers. Also, re: Rob1321's complaints about the shooting guns, lots of places on BrickLink have had SW pistols/rifles for very reasonable prices lately... stock up!

No need to beat a dead horse...

I forgot where exactly I read this — I think it was the first LSW Visual Dictionary — but I believe that one of the features of the set designers' workspaces are sets of drawers containing every minifig part currently in production. I would be fairly certain that those pieces are readily available just for brainstorming, so I highly doubt that an existing design would be unavailable for a prelim photo shoot.

So.. for the ITT he uses the clone body, with ot stormtrooper helmet to represent the rebel version? :(

That's all. I actually think that a lot of these sets are reasonably priced. I just meant it as a way to say, "This is what I'll be buying; how about you?" I didn't want it to sound angry.

Both versions of the Stormie already exist, so I don't know why they weren't used. I guess there could be another alteration to the Stormie design, but that sounds unlikely to me. I don't thjnk a placeholder minifig would be used for an existing minifig — it seems very, very unlikely that TLG doesn't have any available copies for its prelims if it's a minifig currently in production.
September 11, 201410 yr ^My guess is that they are fixing the Rebel stormies.....maybe they are making the mouth less steep, and the printing less accentuated. It is possible that they only had early artwork of the new Stormie designs to work off of, and the accentuated design was an early design for the show. Because I know for a fact that the mouth is not that steep: Look at this. The Lego minifig has tiny little eyes, and that mouth way too steep compared to the TV show. Is it supposed to be steep, compared to the OT version? Yes; just not THAT MUCH! And don't even get me started on the armor......this minifig looks like a completely different type of soldier! I just hope that they fix the Rebel stormie to look more OT, or just stick with OT. Edited September 11, 201410 yr by LN-01354

I was among the biggest complainers on this forum when 2014 winter wave was in this phase (and after the officials also), but this can be a VERY expensive wave for me providing TLG delivers on ITT (but I know they won't anyway, so...) Potentially there's Vulture, ITT, Shadow Troopers, Hailfire, Geonosians I didn't even expect that I'd be this surprised when I first saw the list... Well, the fact I don't collect PT, CW and microfighter sets helps being a cheap wave
September 11, 201410 yr I like some CW stuff, but none of it is "drop-everything-to-buy-this" level. I usually like PT stuff (depending on what it is), and the Microfighters next year actually look cute. Maybe, if I have some extra cash, I'll pick up a few.....But, order of importance: 1) UCS Slave I 2) T-16 3) Shadow Troopers 4) ITT 5) Hailfire *Note that I did not include Cloud City. I am hoping it is not made, so that next year can be cheap compared to the $700 this year. Edited September 11, 201410 yr by LN-01354
September 11, 201410 yr Well, I extremley hope it's OT... I noticed The Custom Starfighter was priced at 50.00. This could mean a Jek-14 sized starfighter.
September 11, 201410 yr And look how good the o.t stormtroopers.. Please lego.. put the rebel version in the trash and use this on every set
September 11, 201410 yr ^Yes. The only problem with this one (aside from cut-off leg printing) is that the mouth is too wide. I would take it any day, though, over the Luny Tunes they're selling us. And Tariq J, Jek-14 Stealth Fighter was only $50? I got it for my awhile back as a gift, but returned it, and it said that it was $100!! Check ToysRUs.......that was a rip-off; I'm glad that I returned it! (I know TRU usually does a $5 mark up, but $50? Well, the person who bought it for me bought it at Target for $50, so I basically got an extra free $50 when I returned it to TRU.......) Edited September 11, 201410 yr by LN-01354
September 11, 201410 yr No, Jek-14's fighter is normally $70... ...okay, TLG designers might drawers full of every currently produced minifigure piece... but what about prints went out of production? Maybe THAT is why it doesn't say "new figure" and has a preliminary fig... It'll be an old print, they just didn't have any on hand!

September 11, 201410 yr So are the Senate Commando troopers deffinitely cancelled? They'd be perfect and it would seem like a bad move if they were Is there any way that they wouldn't be cancelled in the end?
September 11, 201410 yr Yay images! Nice, the ITT (I will get at least 4 of these for my imperial forces), T-16 and the Tie-advanced prototype will be the first ones that I will buy. Allready starting to save the money. I magnified the T-16 image to see if it has a glass cockpit and it has a transparent http://brickset.com/parts/4505317 for the glass.

As I speculated earlier, these prelims could have been taken long ago, before the newest stormies were in production or at least before they were put into the designer's bins. We don't know how the schedules line up.For a minifig like Jar Jar who has been around a few years, they have the real thing. But the stormies have only been in production for a matter of months.
September 11, 201410 yr Most sets look good, but I can't believe I waited 14 years for an update of the AAT and then get this piece of rubbish... It was one of the sets I was really looking forward to. Edited September 11, 201410 yr by Cyberbricker
September 11, 201410 yr So the womp rat is just a normal rat??Well that's disappointing even though those are prelim pictures I hope in the final product at least it will have a new print to resemble the womp rat.
September 11, 201410 yr The T-16 will be a day one purchase for me, not sure about the others though. Not too much OT in this wave. I'll probably save my money for the rumoured Cloud city.
September 11, 201410 yr There are only 2 sets that catch my eye - the TIE Advanced Prototype and Anakin's Custom JSF. Both are quite expensive! The former will probably come with the Inquisitor. As for Anakin's JSF - I'm so happy that it's the Azure Angel, as I had hoped! It's highly probable given its blue colour scheme and what seems to be twin engine intakes. I do wish we got a clearer picture of it, though. Anyway - what version of Anakin do you think it will include? I don't think we've gotten any minifigs from the Tartakovsky miniseries before. Dont forget, this is lego. If you are after a near perfect replica then get action figures.
September 11, 201410 yr I really hope the ITT will have the new OT stormtroopers. There will already be a total of 2 Rebels stormtroopers available in sets, so I hope they'll toss us a bone and fill the ITT with normal stormtroopers, however doubtful that may seem... I also hope the Womp Rat will actually be a new mold, and that the Tusken Raider will have a tan Zabrak headpiece. I'm not sure where the Geonosis troopers came from, are those even canon? It's a shame there will be another Jar Jar in the AAT, but at least the set looks like a great parts pack for Tatooine MOCs. Buy two and you'll have a dome roof for your Tatooine homestead. I thought the Senate Commando pack was cancelled? Well, hopefully not, it looks interesting. It's a shame there won't be any more TOR sets but the least they can do is have new figures that are suitable for TOR era customs. Shadow troopers look great as well, but once again, not sure where they came from. TFU is non-canon but they might show up in the Rebels series.. hopefully as warriors that are skilled unlike the stormtroopers, it seems... in the OT, Imperial troops were capable of quite a few things and when they missed, they may have been ordered to do so by Vader. Although that theory is still questionable when you take the Battle of Endor in mind, but I still like to think of it that way...
