EDIT: Aw man, I was ninja'd on the idea of the set's price, what a bummer. But you know what they say, great minds think alike.

Heh, yeah, I hope the price changes. As a $70 set it's sort of meh, but as a $60 set it's pretty good.

I'm hoping for some last CW season 6 sets though with phase 2 commander wolffe..

Thats very unlikely. My guess is that the January 2015 wave will be focused on Rebels, and then the summer wave being pushed forward to a september or october release to land closer to Episode 7, with 8 or 9 sets focused completely on the new film. Then Jan 2016 will hopefully have battle packs based on Ep 7, with the rest of the wave based on Season 2 of Rebels. Then, after that I believe that the waves will be organized in a similar fashion to give enough coverage over the show and new trilogy/stand alone films. Once the new trilogy is finished, I could see a return of OT and PT sets, but thats roughly 6 years from now.

I doubt the PT will re-appear. Reason for that is that there are the standalone movies from Star Wars which will look to fill in the gaps, and these may mean more variation of the Slave 1, and/or Millennium Falcon. By which time, Episode 10 will be back, very much the marvel movie format. There won't be a year without some form of star wars movie, plus very likely an accompanying filler type animated series, which will take over from Rebels in 2-3 years time.

Not forgetting there are spin-off movies planned too... including one for Fett himself.

Star Wars is such a complex universe now that with a designated number of sets per year there will always be waves that are heavily focused towards a particular era and it will be difficult to fit it all in..

I'm glad we're getting some really nice OT sets at the moment... I still think OT will be the staple until the ST (Can we call it the Sequel Trilogy?) really hits. Then we'll see just how many things cross over from the OT such as the Falcon and Slave 1.

I think the amount of Rebels sets we get will be based on it's success as a TV series... then Lego has it's own Yoda Chronicles as a device to release things... The odd PT item is still possible but maybe few and far between.

Showing us a Rebels set makes sense as I think we're all expecting a lot more OT for Winter this year... and maybe a couple more items for Summer of 2015... I'm not sure of the planned release date for Episode VII from the top of my head but I can't see them delaying the wave and it all depends on how much they want to leak from the film. If it's a December release then Winter 2015/16 will be majorly Ep VII.

Then again we've had 2 Rebels sets in the UK months before the programme will air and now we've seen this one.

The OT will always have a place in the line even after the new movies start hitting theatres, but I really can't see the same happening for the prequels. Next year is really our last chance to get any more sets from those films. Even if the line up heavily focuses on Rebels and the OT, I hope they can at least squeeze in an updated AAT or Bounty Hunter Pursuit before it ends.

I hope that there are some PT/TCW sets in the next wave, especially since that the ST/Rebels/OT are going to be the main focus in the summer 2015 wave onwards, plus like many have mentioned with the stand alone films inbetween 7/8/9 on the horizon. To be honest I'm not really looking forward to summer 2015 onwards.

Also, when does TLG announce the winter wave?

Is it confirmed that we will be seeing slave 1 at SDCC?

I don't think there's been mention of it since another member apparently saw it in a release list at a store in the US for mid-august. I think after that we assumed it would be revealed there.

When do they normally do these reveals? Is it just on the stand as people arrive or are they something that happens throughout the con?

Great....now I don't have to post my comment.......

Seriously: I'm not buying because there are several (understatement) other sets I want more than this one.

I'm sure it'll be a huge improvement over what they would've done a couple years ago — a Technic beam or wheel filled with 'rapid fire' flick-fire missiles connected to a primitive pusher mechanism that wasn't really effective at transmitting force and was in some awkward-to-reach position such you couldn't really fire the missiles that quickly, and once you did manage to empty the clip, both the wing of the set and your fingernail felt like they were going to fall off.

I agree. I'm excited to see it.

Perhaps you're just referring to OT, but LEGO has been putting out new material stuff for years. Clone Wars has had lots of stuff, and the Old Republic sets are of course unique as well. Many of the best Clone Wars sets were the unique materials like the Coruscant Gunship and Cad Bane's Speeder (price aside).

Why yes, I was somewhat exaggerating about number of remakes. But it feels like they have made a lot of them since those are the ones I usually anticipate. And while it's true that Lego has provided us with plenty of new sets, I was just never really fond of them. For instance, the Starhopper from last year and the cannon with Plo Koon made in Winter just didn't seem very good in terms of design, and I was never interested in the OR to examine the sets. This doesn't apply to all the CW sets, like the Coruscant Gunship you mentioned, but for some reason it feels like it goes for the majority of the sets.

Anyways this new Wookiee Gunship reminds me of all the new designs Lego will make throughout the next few years, and will perhaps attract new SW fans to Lego. Which definitely limits the number of X-Wings and Snowspeeders we will be seeing.

Ep 7 is different from Rebels. We've had knowledge of characters, locations and vehicles from the show for a while now, so the sets don't spoil much at all. However, if LEGO were to release their Ep 7 sets in the summer wave before the film's release in December, we could have a Indy 4 incident on our hands again.

What I mean is that it was obvious that LEGO was denied full access to the most current state of the film, and so were left with making sets based on whatever concept art and plot details they had, making for some pretty inaccurate sets. POTC is another example, particularly the Fountain of Youth set. I just hope that this doesn't happen with Star Wars. It would be a huge shame if half the sets we get are random and inaccurate to the film, so my hope is that they push the summer wave forward a bit to coincide with the films release.

Lego would never release the ep7 sets after ep7, that's just silly. Now if Lego moved the summer 2015 wave to around the films release where the Hobbit sets were released last year that would be ideal.

I would imagine that since Lego Star Wars is a huge seller for Lego they would easily move the Star Wars wave for the maximum selling potential of ep7 Lego sets. The biggest buzz would be right before or as the movies are released.

Thanks for clearing that up. Keep forgetting when TLG announces each wave of each year.

Not typically ever until release date, in the case of the Spring Wave. Other than these sets which are revealed and the Summer Wave sets at Toy Fair, we usually first see a list of names and numbers from a site like JediNews or someone who took a peek at the retailer catalog, and then we'll see some names and numbers and prices from a small European online store, and then we'll find 'official' images in someone's online store as well.

I think it'd make more sense to antedate the Winter 2016 sets rather than postponing the 2015 summer sets  Otherwise there'd be a huge gap between the 2015 Winter and Summer waves (almost a year to be exact) Technically, they don't have to change anything, since the Winter sets usually appear in December anyway (at least in the US).

Before this topic gets too redirected away from talk of Episode 7, I have one thing I'd like to talk about.

As we all now know, the Falcon is going to appear in Ep 7. This makes me believe that the likely flagship set for the Ep 7 group of sets will be a new version of the Falcon. Now, what I'm wondering is if LEGO will find a way to incorporate the carrying handle into the ship. Most of the big flagship sets we've got since 2009's Venator Cruiser have had a handle for easy transport and swooshing, but alas the Falcon has never been given this treatment.

I believe that LEGO could find a way to put a handle down the front section, so the handle sits inside the centre metal sheet that points forward between the mandibles at the front. Also, now having seen some reviews of the new ISD (particularly the one from The Brick Show, which has convinced me that it is one of the best Star Wars toys to be released for a long time), its easy to see that LEGO can now reduce the gaps between hinges and plates on ships to a miraculous minimum, and in turn make the ship remarkably sturdy. I'm really hoping that the inevitable new Falcon gets this treatment, so that the exterior, when closed, looks smooth and constant, with no gaps that let you peek inside the ship.

I know its a while off, but these are just some of the major updates I'm really hoping for from a new Falcon set.

LEGO can manage not spoiling Ep7 by just doing vehicles. By that point we should know who most of the characters are anyway, so if it's just vehicles with figs, nothing will really be spoiled. Sure, people will speculate based on the sets, but plot points wouldn't actually be revealed.

If Episode 7 gets the full 8 sets summer wave treatment, I'm hoping for about three location sets. Sets that focus on interiors of ships or buildings and locations on planets. I think its safe to assume the Falcon as one set (probably the flagship), the new X-Wing (probably a $40-$50 set), and probably one set based on the desert town we saw a bit of from those leaked TMZ pictures.

I'd love location sets too, but I don't see it happening. Plus doing locations run into the situational issues of spoiling specific plot points or just being completely wrong.

With vehicles, LEGO already has established a history of throwing in extra figs that don't fit the vehicles. It'd be more of a win-win situation since they couldn't get stuff wrong. I'm sure there will be enough vehicles to fill an entire wave anyway. It's Star Wars. There always are.
