ArrowBricks Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I guess so But it would be a good and cheap way to get him without creating one Just going to have to wait and see if it's actually him. Fordo is basically a clone captain with ARC equipment, so its easy to make one yourself... Apologies forgot to quote you in my post! Quote
Slurpifier Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I myself think that the Hailfire Droid will be a Tartakovsky Clone Wars based set much like the custom Jedi Starfighter. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Yeah, part of the Disney shutdown of the EU was that they decided that no one should continue making toys from the non-canon stuff. If you were working on it, I think it was okay (Hasbro had some action figures in the works that I remember were excepted.), but Legends stuff isn't supposed to be developed into toys going forwards. All the sets you mentioned are from before this happened. Ugh. That's a horrible thing for them to do... so many characters didn't get their due! Hasbro had an entire Comic Pack line yet never bothered to make the lead character of the KOTOR comic; fans voted for Jedi Mara Skywalker but Hasbro said "designers, do what you want" so we got another Emperor's Hand catsuit Mara (that we'd already gotten twice before!), the Comic Pack Grand Admiral Thrawn was based on a piece of artwork showing a completely different non-Imperial-cut uniform, etc. And there are lots of sets & figures Lego could make from the EU that would be amazing to see... I guess we can only hope that the new EU going forward will incorporate ships, aliens, and characters (in looks, if not in name/history/etc) from the Legends stuff, both as nods to the fans who supported & enjoyed that stuff for the last 2+ decades and so they can maybe become toys. Yeah, I knew the sets all happened before Disney took over (I didn’t list Revan, but he must have been pre planned, as I’m sure he was after that announcement) I hadn’t realized that they shut down products from the Legends lines, that’s a much bigger blow to Star Wars than I had realized. at least I still have SW:TOR as a source of still expanding media in the EU realm (they should really just Canonize The Old Republic, it’d would be a great place for their EU to start from as it has a huge fan base already) Quote
Galactic13 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I think once an author writes a book set in The OR time, then the rest will become canon. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 The only obstacles I can think of for KOTOR/TOR becoming canon are the "Vector" arc maybe (since it started in the KOTOR comics, went into Dark Times & Rebellion, and then into Legacy, and I think had a 'flash-forward' Force-vision that may have contained some non-canon stuff--but that's easy enough to explain away as "always in motion, is the future") and if one specific rumor of the myriad rumors about the sequels turns out to be true: that the Sith only came into being 2000 years ago, via Darth Ruin--rather than were reorganized/reborn by Ruin as the EU currently has it. If that was the case, having Sith 3000+ years before the films would thus be non-canon... but even the EU has the Sith rise & fall repeatedly, so unless they're very, very specific about it in the movies & accompanying media, the window should still be open for KOTOR/TOR and all its Sith Lords to be part of the canon. I hope they do canonize it; at least something will survive of the EU besides the dribs & drabs that were included in the movies. It'd be nice to get more TOR sets, and some KOTOR (comics and game) ones as well. Who wouldn't want a Mandalorian Battle Pack with Neo Crusaders, or with a few different Mandos of various species as in the comics? Quote
GallardoLU Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Mandalorian Battle Pack with Neo Crusaders for a man who has spent years fiddling with the Neo Crusader Armor designs, trying to make a game accurate Set for myself (still not happy at all with my creations), a Neo Crusader Battle pack would be the greatest thing Lego could ever do! i would personally buy $200+ worth of them! also on the TOR era mando's how insulting was it that in 4 sets not 1 bounty hunter or Mando was made! I did manage to create Shea Vizla though. Used Helm, Jet pack, and Chest from Arealight, and legs are from Iron Patriot. Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I personally think that the movies need to come before any EU set. There is so much in the Saga that has not been made, or been made only once: the Endor Bunker, TIE Bomber, Cloud City, Lars Homestead, Jedi Temple, Geonosis Arena, Clone Facility, Invisible Hand, Separatist Landing Craft, and so many more. And don't even get me started on all of the minifigs we are missing. But, I am a Saga-only fan, so maybe for an EU fan it is different. But any Star Wars fan should say movies first. Quote
Bycougars11 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 ^I agree they should focus on what hasn't been made or what has only been made once. And yes there are many minfigs that they can still make. Quote
GallardoLU Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah, there are quite a few things that are missing from the films. Being an EU fan makes desires for sets tougher. I would prefer if there was 1 set per wave from EU. After that all the rest could be OT. Quote
ChiefPie Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah I was thinking that the big display might be geonosis arena but idk. Also I'm a fan of saga and TCW as well and there is a lot of things missing. I do want p2 wolffe as my p1 disappeared. Also I like all the new sets coming especially shadow troopers and the new clone sets as I'm missing the hail fire and AAT. Quote

"movies first" quickly gets old. Should we be expected to cheer for minifigures of every denizen of the Outlander Club before they even consider an HK-47 or Imperial Knight? Every patron of the Cantina, including Stripey Robe Dude and That Spaceman You Barely See A Sliver Of before a Tycho Celchu or Zayne Carrick? Another problem with "movie first" is it's a never-ending cycle... they'll keep tweaking build designs and re-releasing existing ships over and over... tweaking prints & updating figures over and over. I get that it's because this is primarily a kid-targeted product, and remaking sets every so often allows the next generation to pick up popular, iconic vehicles, buildings, characters. This is what toy-loving EU fans have to contend with every day. But I'd much rather get major characters from the EU than an endless parade of tweaked extras, or Han with a fancier vest (now with even more pockets!). I love getting movie characters, I really do... I nabbed two Weequay Guards even tho I don't yet own Jabba's Sail Barge because I had that figure as a kid (and turned the spare Lego one into a wrong-color-but-it'll-do Weequay Skiff Master). I love that stuff. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 [...] but let's not let wishes into the rumors topic, right? Ahem. As I said, let's not let our wishlists sneak into the rumors discussion, okay? That belongs in Future Star Wars Sets. Stay on topic, please! Quote

I would rather have every single background character from the Cantina, Echo Base, Theed, and the Jedi Temple, more than I would want That-robot-that-looks-cool-but-he-is-in-a-time-like-3-thousand-years-before-the-story-even-matters. I mean, seriously; I can see people wanting EU sets from between 3-4, but three thousand years before The Phantom Menace? At that point, it might as well be an entirely different series, because none of it affects the movies. Star Wars is the story of the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker and the Empire, not the story of some background characters. (Yeah, all of your beloved TOR characters are so background, they don't even appear in a movie.) And don't try to argue, "Oh, it matters to the story." Take out TOR, and the story of Star Wars is the same. The only things that matter is anything from TPM to ROTJ. Quote
thetang22 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) The only things that matter is anything from TPM to ROTJ. Everybody has opinions. I love the movies, but there's also some content from the EU that's more enjoyable than the movies (more enjoyable than the PT, anyway). But then again, that's just my opinion...and we all know how opinions work. In regards to the rumors - I'll be using this opportunity to get a small collection of Storm Troopers via the ITT. I don't particularly care about whether they are OT design or Rebels design, as I think the differences are so minor it doesn't matter to me. When I look at them, I see Storm Troopers, and that's what I care about. I don't have any of the OT ones already, so as long as I buy exclusively from the ITT, then they should all look the part. Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 We've barely seen the winter wave. But don't get your hopes up; there will probably be no Episode VII sets. The movie will be released in December, a full five months after the summer wave. Think: that is nearly half a year! The summer wave will be a mix of Rebels, OT, and PT. No Episode VII. Quote
Daimar Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Maybe Anakins custom starfighter will appear in the next Yoda chronicles? That would be a good reason to use it in 2015. Edited September 13, 2014 by Daimar Quote

Take out TOR, and the story of Star Wars is the same. The only things that matter is anything from TPM to ROTJ. It's called Star Wars, not Anakin Skywalker. The 6 main movies are the story about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, but Star Wars can be about anything within that specific universe, just like The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are two different stories but still a part of the same universe. They can co-exist. The only difference is that all Star Wars material has "Star Wars" in front of the name, whereas LOTR and The Hobbit don't start as "Middle-Earth", disproving your argument about it "not mattering because it's not part of the initial story" furthermore. In the end, it's all Star Wars. The KOTOR crew does not consist of background characters, because they are important to the stories they appear in. The only things that matter to you are the six films, that does not mean that the other SW elements don't matter entirely. SWTOR is not even supposed to be all that relevant to the main series which currently consists of the 6 films, but that does not make it any less of a part of the Star Wars universe, in the same way that Ancient Rome was once important to ours, even if it seems so long ago to the time we live in now. The history of the world may not directly seem all that relevant to what's going on now, but in the end, many things that were influenced by the past exist in present day. In the same way, if you look at specific TOR elements, the Old Republic era IS relevant to the main story. How did the Sith succeed at overthrowing the Republic & the Jedi to create a new Empire? The Rule of Two. Who created the Rule of Two? Darth Bane. Who influenced Darth Bane? Darth Revan. Which era are both of those characters from? The Old Republic era. All the winter sets sound great so far. Edited September 13, 2014 by LEGOMAN132 Quote
Samiens Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 General Magma is quite right- and don't forget Darth Bane is canon; his spirit speaks to Yoda in the last season of Clone wars. Quote
Flieger Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 When can we expect the final pictures of the new sets to show up? don't forget Darth Bane is canon; his spirit speaks to Yoda in the last season of Clone wars. ...albeit with a totally different appearance than the EU comics and books suggested. Whatever one personally considers to be Star Wars, there are strict canon rules. The big deal however is that this does not matter at all. Lego will do whatever sells, including figures they make up. This wave has four sets, which could turn out to be non-canon (Geonosis Troopers, Shadow Troopers, Senate Commandos, Anakin's JSF), depending on the final product and what Rebels will bring. Quote
