Phil Slender Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Does anyone think there will be more micro fighters sets? The mini planet series lasted 3 waves (and 4 outside the US) but I've had trouble getting a sense of how popular the micro fighters are. I personally had no interest in them Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 LEGO can manage not spoiling Ep7 by just doing vehicles. By that point we should know who most of the characters are anyway, so if it's just vehicles with figs, nothing will really be spoiled. Sure, people will speculate based on the sets, but plot points wouldn't actually be revealed. When did the TCW sets first come out? Was it right after the movie, before the movie but based on stuff we'd already seen, before the movie but without spoilers...? I don't remember. I know Anakin's Delta-7b came out first.I know the Sith sets came out before the movie — again with Anakin's Eta-2 coming out first — and I'm pretty sure I remember there being complaints because LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game spoiled the movie, but obviously since it's been nine years (!!!) since Episode III came out, one can't really use that to anticipate how TLG will handing Rebels or Episode VII. The star fighter came out in a January wave, and then there was a massive summer wave released in late July in the US with the film coming out in August. It was all vehicles. Besides for there being Jabbas son and some new vehicles, really nothing even hinted at what would be in the movie.Arguably there was nothing to spoil in the CW movie anyway, but all vehicles with a smattering of figures made sense. The initial Ep3 wave was basically the same thing. Quote

The mini planet series lasted 3 waves (and 4 outside the US) but I've had trouble getting a sense of how popular the micro fighters are. I personally had no interest in them I've got all of them and think they're great little builds. The character selection is nothing special, but for a quick and easy set, they're better to me than the former planets line. Plus they're kinda cute, so my girlfriend likes them. I still see them alot on the shelves, so I'm unsure if they're selling we'll or just being stocked often. Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I look at how many people have them in line while checking out. (MicroFighters) ...and I'm thinking we'll see a second wave. Quote
Nom Carver Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Do we know about any other sets than the wookie ship? Quote
Fives Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Do we know about any other sets than the wookie ship? My guess is the rest of the January wave will be Rebels. The winter waves usually have 6 or 7 sets, so they could easily cover most of the main vehicles and characters from the first season. This is how I believe most of the waves for the next few years: summer wave focusing on upcoming film, winter wave covering most recent Rebels season. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Star Wars waves have nearly always been a smattering of things. Even when the Clone Wars was in full swing, very few waves were completely Clone Wars. I think we might be seeing one 100% Rebels wave and one 100% Ep7 wave, but besides for those the other waves would have a mishmash of things. Quote
Venkefedo Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I look at how many people have them in line while checking out. (MicroFighters) ...and I'm thinking we'll see a second wave. I've only really seen the AAT, Turbo Tank, and occasionally the Falcon sitting around. I love the ones I've nabbed (all the OT ones) and hope we get a B-wing, Y-wing (with another Gray Squadron pilot maybe), A-wing, Sandcrawler (affordable Jawa!), etc. The fewer major characters, the better, but there's TONS of potential with this line (EbonHawkMoldyCrowEbonHawk) Quote
Slurpifier Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I never really managed to pick up the Microfighters line, mainly because every time I go into a store to 'snoop' around, there sold out. A lot of the workers say that they sell out because they describe them as pocket builds, quite a nifty name might I add! I quite hope that they continue the Microfighters line into 2015, wouldn't mind seeing what clever ideas Lego will come up with for them! Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 ^They seem to go quickly because when Mom and Dad take Junior into the Lego Store, they usually give him (or her) a budget... and the Microfighters are ALWAYS under that budget. Quote
will Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) Regarding the falcon - I think we'll get a new one. There's a new one in the Yoda Chronicles, which has featured lots of new sets. I expect to see a new vader's TIE at some point as well. Edited July 25, 2014 by will Quote
Darth Malgus Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 They may save the MF for Ep vii next year its so iconic that it would make good sense to have it as part of the initial wave for the movie. Quote
LegoBari31 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Episode VII sets would probably not come out until November or December 2015 since the film will be released in December. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Episode VII sets would probably not come out until November or December 2015 since the film will be released in December. Which means SDCC next year will be a biggie indeed, but it's still too early to try and start guess what sets might be released. Quote
coolguy2323 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Boring choice IMO. Still bitter about Clone Wars being cancelled for typical Disney kid stuff, and of course the mandatory PT purge. Too bad George didn't hold onto Star Wars for a few more years. Quote
Jdurg Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I'm really just a fan of the actual movies and haven't delved into the Clone Wars, Old Republic, or any other EU stuff except by accident every now and then. I actually would have been more apt to pick some CW stuff if they didn't have the REALLY stupid printing of the eyes and whatnot on the mini-figs. With regular Star Wars printing on the heads, I'd have likely purchased more of those. Hopefully the new Rebels sets aren't the same horrible printing. Then again, I could probably pick up the CW stuff and just BrickLink away the mini-figs that I can't tolerate. Quote
The Joker1 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Seeing as we have a strong wookie based set announced do we think there is any chance of a wookie cheap set, Maybe even a battle pack? I like the big set but not enough to buy one sadly. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Which means SDCC next year will be a biggie indeed, but it's still too early to try and start guess what sets might be released. Agreed. At this point really all we can say about 2015 is that we'll get a Wookiee Gunship. Anything else is just pure speculation. Quote

Too bad George didn't hold onto Star Wars for a few more years. I'm annoyed at TCW being canceled, too, but Rebels hardly looks like "typical Disney kid stuff". Hopefully the new Rebels sets aren't the same horrible printing. Then again, I could probably pick up the CW stuff and just BrickLink away the mini-figs that I can't tolerate. If you look at the figs in the Ghost/Phantom/Wookiee Gunship sets, you'll see they're printed more like the movie figures. Quote
LegoBari31 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 The Wookie Gunship has really changed my outlook on the Rebels line (now I have to kill my wallet). Quote
Just The Doctor Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I bet we can expect a wookie bp too, these new minifigs are outstanding! Quote
