ChiefPie Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 It is long. Most likely the reason nobody likes them. Oh well I'll be buying it anyway I have only like 3 regular stormies and 4 scouts and like 3 officers 2 pilots 2 guards and engineers that I plan on getting more of. Quote
AnthonyP301 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 For MicroFighters, I'll probably get the Republic Gunship and AT-AT for a second pilot if I get the minifig-scale versions. For Battlepacks, I'm not really interested for now, but better pictures could make them look better. I like all the Rebels sets, I'll be getting Ezra's Speeder Bike, ITT, and TIE Advanced Prototype right away. For the rest, I love the T-16 and I might get the micro-series starfighter eventually if it's $30. Quote
Cyberbricker Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Now where do those Shadow Guards come from. I have never seen them before. The shadow guards are force sensitive guards, thats why they wear black and not the regular red. :) Quote
ArrowBricks Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Just a thought, but I believe the Shadow Troopers will be based on Rebels. When has Lego put 3 or 4 battle packs in a wave with set numbers not next to each other? The ITT has set number 75078 while the Geonosis Troopers and the cancelled Senate Commando Troopers have set numbers 75089 and 75088. These two set numbers, 75088 and 75089 are based on The Clone Wars however the ITT is based on Rebels. The shadow Troopers set number is right next to the other battle pack the ITT suggesting to me that this will be Rebels. Lego has split these four battle packs, now three into two separate types of battle pack based on what show they are from. Rebels based battle packs and The Clone Wars based ones. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 There's something off about that speeder bike set... They look so bulky. Also, is it just me or does the box art seem a bit wonky? Especially the AAT and Anakin's Starfighter. Wonkiness could just be due to them being preliminary... even if the final art matches the angles & poses for the most part, it could wind up looking very different and will likely have a lot more time put into it. As for the bulky speeders, that's due to their being based on old ROTJ concept art... longer, wider than the bikes we ultimately got in the movie. Here's a link to several sketches, the one in the show seems like an amalgam of a couple different designs (unless I just couldn't find the exact one)... bits of NRJ as well as Joe Johnston (just to reinforce that not everything based on old concept art in the show is based on McQuarrie art!) markw Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I'm looking forward to buying the AT-AT for a new pilot, and the Snowspeeder to add to my rebel soldier collection. Loads of Stormtroopers would be great, but I'm not sold on the Rebels versions like everyone else. Quote
Spyderlord Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) Darn... Oh well they don't look that bad... Actually, when you think of it well, they do, they really do... Enough to break it, at least for me. Book example of how to save 150 euros by not buying 10 boxes of ITT Edited September 17, 2014 by Spyderlord Quote
Slurpifier Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Funny enough, I seen a Lego Rebels promo in a magazine, and the Stormtrooper is clearly OT. I'll see if I can scrounge it up tomarrow. Quote
J.V.D. Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 At first sight next year will gentle for my Lego SW budget. The T16 and... that will be about it I guess... maybe one of those "black ops " battlepack too. I was planning to get several of the ITT battlepacks, but not if it contains those Droopy style helmets.. I just dont like them.. Maybe spent the budget I had foreseen for this on bricklink, buying some classic stormies and sandtroopers.. Quote

Strange... or, maybe, as has been suggested before, the Ghost one will turn out to be a one-off and the rest will be movie-style. Or the promo just used the OT Lego Stormie design instead of the Ghost one because it was handy. Quote
Gremer Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 It'll be gentle for me too. Hailfire, Azure Angel, and T16, and that's it. Quote
Slurpifier Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 From what I know, it was a Lego Club magazine for this month. I'll try my best to get a photo of it up. Quote
Blackice200 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 For me- azure angel, Geonosis troopers + hailfire. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) Well as you can see the ITT in the rebels trailers it will probably be rebel stormies. Darn... Oh well they don't look that bad... Well at least you are trying to make the best of a situation. I still hope that they will be updated Rebel Stormies, to look more like in the show. I know that they don't have that bright of a blue, that angular of a chestplate, not due they have mouths at 10 degree angles. Strange... or, maybe, as has been suggested before, the Ghost one will turn out to be a one-off and the rest will be movie-style. That is what I was *hoping* for. Venkefedo Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 You're hoping the Ghost one was a one-off, but that going forward Rebels Stormies will look MORE like those in the show? Does not compute... they're OT-style stormies, it's already been proven as well as can be without Leland Chee or Filoni, Kinberg, or Plunkett popping up to confirm it, and with the other characters not really being stylized it makes the most sense to just churn out OT stormies by the dozen for Rebels sets & OT sets alike (preferably with leg printing as well!). But we've beaten this dead Ewok's corpse plenty over the last however many weeks... Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 ^In the show, they do NOT have such steep mouths, or such angular armor, or things like that. They look regular OT, but LEGO is the one that messed up. Lego decided to make the Stormie look like an angular mess, with bright blue. What I meant was that Rebel Stormie (in show)=the OT Stormie, so getting a Rebels Stormie would be the same as getting an OT Stormie. Quote

Well judging from the looks of that stormtrooper on the new box art, I beg to differ. What is portrayed on the box art doesn't strike me as an OT stormie at all. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 What is portrayed on the box art is a Rebel Stormie, true; but they look close enough to OT Stormies that it would be okay to use the same prints. The clones from TCW had a very distinct look, different from the movie versions: Thicker visor, a gentler mouth slope, no black line, etc. But these Stormies are pretty much the same as in the movies. markw Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) I don't follow much beyond the OT & PT, but what is the difference between the TIE advanced prototype and Darth Vaders TIE fighter? Presumably the TIE pilot packaged in this one will also be Rebels stylised, with accompanying droopy mouth? It's frustrating that they have got rid of the cartoon Clone Wars faces and made the Rebels characters so they compliment the standard figures, but then introduced this difference with the Stormtroopers. TCW Clone troopers weren't too different and would pass for regular troopers in an army without too much stretch of the imagination Edited September 18, 2014 by markw Quote

Actually Lego did not mess up judging by the show's screen caps and videos which show the exact helmet design with new angles and the bluer marks. A simple search demonstrates these differences which were accurately recreated in lego's version of the Rebels Stormtrooper. Quote

But we've beaten this dead Ewok's corpse plenty over the last however many weeks... I have pretty much written ITT off at this point with the assumption there will be four "Ghost" stormies in it. At this point, the hope is at least one of the sets other than Slave I will have an OT stormie in the style of the new ISD. The silver lining is that this will be a cheap wave, only purchasing T-16 and maybe the Shadowtroopers. This will free up money to be used for MOC completion, finishing off the Hobbit line, and maybe saving up for a nice big one such as Sandcrawler or DS. Quote

The SWR Stormtrooper is one of the most useless minifigures ever. Quote
