GallardoLU Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 as far as stormtroopers go, I just think of each change (within OT ones) as I do real world professions sometimes old uniforms don't get replaced quickly enough and you end up with people in similar but not identical gear. so the ones in the old gear just stand in back ;) Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 @: LN-01354 : You're completely right about the Battlefront sets! I'm still waiting for a "Mos Eisleys Hero Assault" set! Is it LEGO IDEAS time? Anyway, it is WAY to difficult to get an Imperial Army, worse than a Clone Army. The clones just had so many specialty troops, and few regular guys (until 2013). But Stormies only have a few specialty soldiers, but they ALL CHANGE ALL THE TIME. TIE pilots, Snowtroopers, regular Stormies, Scouts, they all change so much. At this point, I'm hoping for the ITT to regular, just so I can buy 100 of these and then never bother with Stormies ever again. Quote
Slurpifier Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I agree with the above statement. The variation between Stormtroopers gets irritating after a while. I was trying to army build back in 2011, I managed to get 9 regulars, but then the updated 2012 variant came out. I only managed to get 7 of this variant, and it was even more annoying that they updated it this year (although, the 2014 variant is gorgeous) I wish Lego would sometines stop updating figures every two years. Robert_88 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 A SWR Stormtrooper isn't necessary at all but that is probably not TLG's fault. Maybe they had to make this version. It's just really frustrating that normally we only get Stormtroopers in expensive sets but we get these ugly versions in three relatively cheap sets in one wave. Quote
Robianco Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Maybe after this wave when we've all got 8 or 9 of these Stormies they won't look so bad together... Quote
Robert_88 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Maybe... Just2good mentioned that they are not the version from the Ghost set. Let's hope that's good news! Quote
Spyderlord Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Maybe... Just2good mentioned that they are not the version from the Ghost set. Let's hope that's good news! A fool's hope, I know, yet I join the ranks... Who knows, maybe they had a moment of enlightment lately? Quote
Fuppylodders Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Maybe after this wave when we've all got 8 or 9 of these Stormies they won't look so bad together... 8 or 9 versions or 8 or 9 of the same one? Quote
Blackice200 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I really hope the angel isn't a retail exclusive. Way too expensive. Quote
Galactic13 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Has anyone thought about the fact that the shadowtroopers could be from Episode 7? Say like a preview set. They did that with the CW line with the Anakin JSF coming out in the winter wave and the rest came out with the move. Just a thought. Quote
Venkefedo Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I really hope the angel isn't a retail exclusive. Way too expensive. I agree it's expensive, but it's not like the retailer will jack it up even more because it's exclusive (I mean, TRU might occasionally do so, but usually they'll sell their exclusives for the MSRP... until it's retired, then they'll jack the price up $15 at least) Has anyone thought about the fact that the shadowtroopers could be from Episode 7? Say like a preview set. They did that with the CW line with the Anakin JSF coming out in the winter wave and the rest came out with the move. Just a thought. Nope. This is for winter 2015, we don't even have teaser-trailers yet, or much beyond a handful of pics of a few locations, ships, creatures, and extras. With Shadow Guards included in the set, it's definitely not VII. The only reason for Shadow Guards--or any Royal Guard iteration--to exist is to serve the Emperor; well, the Emperor's been dead for 30-something years, so unless some other dark side user has assumed the throne (boooooooring) there's no need for saber-wielding Force-using royal guards. Far more likely this is Rebels-related, if it's not just an outright Legends EU set (which is fine by me, I'll take as many EU sets as I can get...well, provided the scope is broader than "TFU and TOR") Quote

However, I more or less just expect it to be apart of the EU products that LEGO had in development at the time. As it would be the last time LEGO could release these items, as Disney made all EU non-canon and with that no more EU products. I also have considered the possibility that they're becoming once again canon and will appear in Star Wars Rebels, but that's all pure speculation. Quote
rollermonkey Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 The Emperor may have been dead for 30 years, maybe not. LOTS of rumors swirling around have him and Vader appearing in VII in some form... Force ghost, flashback, or maybe not actually dead... Difficult to see, always in motion the future is. Quote
GallardoLU Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I'll take as many EU sets as I can get...well, provided the scope is broader than "TFU and TOR") TOR sets I love, and would love many many more of, but TFU there is only One set I want from there, Proxy! preferably a Maul bust sized well... Bust lol. as for the rest of the Legends content, yeah i'll grab anything they give me Quote

Force ghost, flashback, or maybe not actually dead... Difficult to see, always in motion the future is. Flashbacks have no place in the main SW films, outside of Force-visions or maybe holo-recordings... even then, probably not a great idea. Palpatine being a Force ghost kinda goes counter to everything (admittedly little) the movies & TCW told us, and "not actually dead" is just Dark Empire, pushed back another 25 years or so, and that's a terrible idea. The main point, tho, is Summer 2015 is the earliest we might see a VII preview set (May 4th could be the earliest we see a VII minifig, tho there are still probably dozens of other choices from the existing movies, shows, and EU I can think of; we got Revan this year, why not Thrawn next year? It'd be a nice nod what was once considered by many as the sequel trilogy). We got two "Desolation of Smaug" sets early because of the late decision to split The Hobbit into 3 films. That's not happening here, so the odds of getting a VII set a full year in advance are approximately eleventy billion to one. TOR sets I love, and would love many many more of, but TFU there is only One set I want from there, Proxy! preferably a Maul bust sized well... Bust lol. as for the rest of the Legends content, yeah i'll grab anything they give me I love TOR sets too (well, the idea of them; I still havent' bought the two big ships), and probably would enjoy some TFU sets, but if TLG's gonna be able to tackle Legends sets going forward, I don't want it to be those two properties exclusively. There are too many fan-favorite characters in other properties, too many other interesting ideas out there that would be great to see in Lego form. But a Nico Okarr TOR set would be pretty sweet! Galactic13 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Pics have been floating around the internet with stormies with chrome silver helmets. The shadowtroopers in the BP look like they have silver helmets. And let us not for get that Lego has stated that they are working on the Episode 7 sets right now! They know things that we don't. They don't need a teaser trailer, they need pics of the sets and props, and that's what they have. Quote

Those chrome stormies may be fake... they also have different muzzles and high collars resembling the Galaxy Patrol-type armor, so regular stormies in gray wouldn't work. They're also chrome; "shadow troopers" would not apply as a name for shiny chrome stormies (the pics, which are preliminary of course, show gray helmets--not silver). Working on EpVII sets "right now" doesn't mean "they'll be out this December/January"... the movie is still filming, the sets are likely still being designed based on the ever-changing info being handed off to licensees. The earliest we might see a VII set will be in next summer's releases. You're kidding yourself if you think there's any kind of chance that the Shadowtroopers set is from Episode VII. Quote
Galactic13 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 True true..........but we never thought that Qui-Gon would be in the CW. Quote

They don't need a teaser trailer, they need pics of the sets and props, and that's what they have. It's likely that the silver helmeted troops are not Stormies. Some fairly credible rumors peg them as a third party private group in service to a wealthy and powerful businessman. They are likely not an evolution of something old, but rather a whole new faction. And if you all have not figured it out yet, we have one good chance for some classic Stormies looming. Lucasfilms has been known to give a boost to their game properties. Well the next big game release involving Star Wars will be the EA/Dice developed Star Wars Battlefront. Which looks to be very very OT focused and seems to be gunning for film authenticity. I think a Lego Battlefront Battlepack is well within the realm of possibilities. Clone 01354 Productions Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 You guys seriously believe this? Seriously? JJ is known to keep things tight under wraps, but you think that we have plot details, FINISHED SHOTS, costumes, and character roles? No. "The Inquisitor's are a new race of Sith." Or did that not-credible source say "Hey, a guy named the Inquisitor is in Rebels! Maybe there'll be a hundred of him in VII?!?!" The answer is no. There will be no chrome Stormies, there will be no Luke's hand floating in space, there will not be a flashback, or Palpatine, or Vader, or Boba Fett, or any of those crazy rumors. What we know: there are black X-Wings, the Millenium Falcon appears, and.....Oh, that's it! I think a Lego Battlefront Battlepack is well within the realm of possibilities. Quote
Venkefedo Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I believe there are many valid leaks (the overhead shots of the Rebel/Republic hangar base), but that it's especially likely for folks to whip up plenty of fakery as well (the supposed villain who looks almost exactly like a Yuuzhan Vong)... leaks will happen, even on an Abrams project, but I'm still hopeful all the story leaks are way off the mark (the "floating hand & saber" one have to be, it's dumber than the dumbest stuff you can find in the Brackett ESB draft) and that any ties REBELS has with VII aren't as heavy as "Oh, hey, 'the Inquisitor'? Yeah, he's not 'the' only one... here, have a dozen more who have been hunting Luke ever since Palpatine died!" Less than 48 hours, hopefully, until we see some final pics of most of the winter wave! Really looking forward to how the ITT troops look, and the rest of the Rebels sets! Quote
ChiefPie Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Battle front Legos? O yes! We would get 501st and a lot of things. Well I do hope the new battlefront will have PT or else batte front 2 is the best. I like to have mix trilogy's. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) It really would be great! We can get regular Stormies, Clones, Droids, and Rebels, but then we can also get all different variants: Dark Troopers, Vanguards, Desert Gear, 501st Clones, Magna Guards, etc. And we can get Bespin platforms and hallways, Death Star control rooms, Jedi Temple rooms, Felucia, Mygeeto, Rhen Var (remember that?!). Seriously, I have more R2-D2 minifigs, OF THE SAME VARIANT, than I do Stormies. And before you say, "Well, R2 is a major character", I also have two Logray figs. Seriously. I have two figs of a background Ewok, and only three Stormies. Something isn't right....... Edited October 2, 2014 by LN-01354 Quote
