Yeah, the reveal of the Helicarrier is imminent. What kind of set are you hoping for? A playset like the Death Star (albeit slightly less parts and minifigs) or more of a model, kinda like the Sandcrawler?

Playability isn't a big necessity to me. The flight deck should be big enough to display a good amount of figs and have a nice battle scene. Some interior would be nice though. But what I do want is a crap ton of minifigs for $350. I'll be really pissed if we only get 3 or so. I want as many figs as the death star if I'm paying almost as much to get it.

More expensive than the deathstar here. Death stars only £275 - expect same with loadsa figs!

It's not going to be as much as the Death Star, but a giant set won't be worth two to five minifigs and no playability (Looking at you, Tumbler and SSD). Since the Helicarrier is huge by nature, rather than a larger scaled LEGO model, it should have some playset value, like the Sandcrawler or Death Star. I know children are never the UCS target audience, but I think there's something so wrong about a set you can't play with. That's not the spirit of LEGO. Although I have to see the reveal to determine whether I want it or not. Getting it is a completely different issue.

Yes, but its been compared to the Super Star Destroyer... so that might mean little figures.

I think anyone who is expecting 14-18 figures such as the Death Star or Ewok Village is going to be mightily disappointed by the Hellicarrier.

Everything we've read so far leads me to believe it'll be around 4-7 figures with the set.

Even the Ideas submission only had a realistic 4 figures.

The SSD cost more than the Hellicarrier's $350 when it was released 4 years ago and had 3 exclusive figures with 2 others released in other sets.

10179 MF was $499 when it was released 8 years ago and had 5 figures. 10212 Imperial Shuttle was $259 6 years ago and had 5 figures. 10030 Star Destroyer was $269 14 years ago and had no figures.

75060 Slave 1 and 10240 Red Five X-Wing are both $199 and have a total of 5 figures between them none of which were exclusives. 10198 Tantive IV had 5 figures with just one exclusive figure.

So of the large flying ships that have been released from the other evergreen licensed theme we've had 25 figures between 7 of them... and about 5 or 6 of those have been exclusives.

I might be totally wrong but if not then I just hope we don't get a swathe of people moaning that Lego has 'missed another opportunity' with the release.

It will be what it will be. A large Marvel UCS set of a highly requested vessel... and very likely a fantastic build. It just may not be the Avengers figure-fest that some are hoping for.

I hope it at least has: Nick Fury (MCU), Maria Hill, Agent Coulson and Bruce banner, but for that price it should really be like a tribute set to the MCU so far like the death star was: Include somewhat of an interior like the bridge/control room but ideally, The Loki prison cell and Banner's Lab also. Figure wise for a set of its price range (i thought the figure selection in the ISD and the tumbler was appalling for such an enormous price) should be more like Ewok village or sand-crawler: Nick Fury, Agent Coulson (with destroyer cannon), Maria Hill, Bruce Banner, Loki (new hair and a different facial expression, backside of head with mouth muzzle), Captain America (WW2 or stealth WS suit), Falcon (MCU), 2 strike troopers and 2 shield troopers. That would be a nice merge of Loki's attack and Shield vs Strike, if they really wanted to impress they could include an exclusive version of winter soldier without mouth guard and with shadows around the eyes, Black widow (brown leather jacket Avengers), Thor (flesh arms and casual Armour), Battle damaged Mk 6 Iron man Armour, Hawkeye (same face and hair as AOU but torso and legs the plain black gear he wore when attacking the helicarrier) and Hulk. Thats unlikely to happen but wouldn't that be cool.

Its not a missed opportunity if it doesn't have a load of figures but really it'd be disappointing if its only 2 or 3 and the interior isn't usable, i mean the ISD at least had 5 figures and tried to include the interior, the sand crawler had a decent interior and a decent amount of figures, the slave 1 has about 5 and has a minifigure accessible interior, the sea cow is the same. The tumbler in my opinion was a misstep as people have wanted an accurate minifigure compatible dark knight tumbler for a long time and what they got was a very accurate ridiculously over sized and unsuitable for figures, black tank and a couple of very exclusive, expensive, desirable figures. They might as well have made a proper system set with those two figures rather than shoehorning them into a set that was made without figures in mind. As i say I hope the Helicarrier doesn't fall into this trap. Then again if it does and is just a model with 2-3 figures it'll save my money for the myriad of figures and fantastic sets heading our way with AOU.

From the one shot we have of it with the Mini Quinjet I do believe that it's going to be more like the SSD, a model. It does have the cannons from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so I think we're gonna get Nick Fury, Mariah Hill, Coulson, Captain America and Falcon. Maybe they'll impress and have the top part removable and having a nice play area similar to the newest SD, maybe then we'll get some SHEILD personel too..

Anyone know where I can find old odds and ends from the starwars sets? I am not quite sure what it is called that I am looking for but I would like some parts for a custom build. I know I saw the pieces in my younger cousins sets from year back. I think 2006/07ish (??)

You can't compare SSD or ISD with Helicarrier. Helicarrier is like an ant compared to them, they are HUGE vessels.

So yes, for 350 bucks I'm expecting some play features with it. Just make it hollow inside with play features and it can still look good to display when its closed.

If it's a Lego set I think we can easily compare it... In the same way some are comparing it to the Death Star which is the size of a small moon.

Some of the ships I've mentioned are one man vessels... But when it comes to being a Lego set it doesn't matter.

I don't think it'll be hollow with loads of rooms as it'll need a LOT of structural work for it to be strong enough.

As its a flying ship it'll be raised by supports so it'll be to able to hold together while raised in a couple of spots.

I can see the bridge area being accessible and, as mentioned in a previous post, maybe the rear deck can be lifted up but I don't think we'll get a maze of rooms throughout the length of the ship.

But in the preview we saw a micro quinjet, so presumably the rest of the set is too

Precisely. We're not going to get flight controllers standing on the deck to manage the flow of Quinjets smaller than them.

The SSD had the Star Destroyer as a small scale model in the same way.

I could see three rooms whilst maintaining the structural integrity needed. The Command Deck, with a couple of banks of computers and most notably, Fury's computer, the middle room being Loki's Cell, with a small catwalk around it and the ability to pull out a Technic pin so the cell actually drops, and then the Lab, which could actually have a window in it to look out the back of the vessel. :classic:

There is so much possibility for a good PLAYSET with this, that if it is a display-only piece, I will be bitterly disappointed.

Wait, we've seen pictures already? How do we know there's a Micro-Quintet?

The inside of the 'G' on the intro to the Designer videos is almost certainly the Hellicarrier and it shows a micro Quinjet mounted on a transparent stand to the front of the flight deck.

I should point out that those front-facing Cannons seen are not specific to the CA:TWS Variation - there are front facing cannons/antennae on the Avengers variant of the Carrier too. :classic:

I agree about the command deck but I don't see there being the space to have a cell that can hold a bigfig Hulk that would have a working function like this as well as a catwalk around it THEN a lab for the science twins to work in.

Not sure but just a suggestion, try another forum. I mean if anyone knows or can help this guy but you might find luck somewhere else. Sorry for not being more helpful

Ah, I see. So that's probably TLG saying that the pics will be out in a day or two.

The 'G' was in place for the Detective's Office Modular video which was released towards the end of November:

8 seconds in you get the words and you can see the image in the 'G'.
