Ultron Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'm dying of anticipation over here. I want them to reveal the set!! Also, if I remember correctly, the Winter Soldier promo is for June, right? I'm guessing that's when the spidey and antman sets are being released as well? Quote
JaseTJ Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I think anyone who is expecting 14-18 figures such as the Death Star or Ewok Village is going to be mightily disappointed by the Hellicarrier. Everything we've read so far leads me to believe it'll be around 4-7 figures with the set. Even the Ideas submission only had a realistic 4 figures. The SSD cost more than the Hellicarrier's $350 when it was released 4 years ago and had 3 exclusive figures with 2 others released in other sets. 10179 MF was $499 when it was released 8 years ago and had 5 figures. 10212 Imperial Shuttle was $259 6 years ago and had 5 figures. 10030 Star Destroyer was $269 14 years ago and had no figures. 75060 Slave 1 and 10240 Red Five X-Wing are both $199 and have a total of 5 figures between them none of which were exclusives. 10198 Tantive IV had 5 figures with just one exclusive figure. So of the large flying ships that have been released from the other evergreen licensed theme we've had 25 figures between 7 of them... and about 5 or 6 of those have been exclusives. I might be totally wrong but if not then I just hope we don't get a swathe of people moaning that Lego has 'missed another opportunity' with the release. It will be what it will be. A large Marvel UCS set of a highly requested vessel... and very likely a fantastic build. It just may not be the Avengers figure-fest that some are hoping for. >Star Destroyers are big ships that you only ever see the bridge of. Who would you include aside from officers and Vader and maybe Palpatine anyways? Plus as I previously pointed out, the shape makes it harder to include play areas. >The Millennium Falcon basically only has five characters that are ever on it. >The Slave I also only ever features Boba, his Han-in-carbonite prize, an imperial dude to cart Han, and another bounty hunter or two just 'cause. Because who else would they include? The Hellicarrier, on the other hand, can and should feature at least Fury, Coulson, Hill, and a nameless agent or two (similar to the imperial officers) to all go in the bridge area (like on the Star Destroyer sets). It should also include at least two minifigures per other play area, whether it be the prison or the lab or what. (There could be some overlap, such as Loki and Coulson being in the prison area). So basically I'd expect 'figs based on whether there's a lot of playability inside or not. There will almost undoubtedly be at least the three, though. I should point out that those front-facing Cannons seen are not specific to the CA:TWS Variation - there are front facing cannons/antennae on the Avengers variant of the Carrier too. Really? Good. I wouldn't necessarily dislike a Winter Soldier version, but... Avengers version would be better as SHIELD actually used it :P Quote
Robianco Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'd already said I thought there'd be between 4 and 7 figures. I just think those that are hoping for 16-20 figures might just be a little disappointed. I'm sure I could name quite a few characters that could have been made to bulk up the ships I mentioned on the SW theme but it just goes to show that Lego don't just throw a huge chunk of figures at every large scale set. Quote
LMB10 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Those hoping for 7+ figures and a playset-type build are going to be dissapointed. I'm pretty certain it'll just be a display model with 3 / 4 minifigs Quote
Kizmoz Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Bruce Banner would make a nice inclusion to any line-up for Helicarrier minifigs... he's got the side/support role that you'd expect for a collectable character, rather than the need to be included action figure of standard sets. After all, his alter ego smashed up the last "Helicarrier set" Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I wonder if it's the Avengers 'Carrier with rotors or the AoU version with repulsors. Quote

I am not hoping for too many as I know what Lego are like. I will be bitterly dissapointed if they miss out on such a great opportunity to make an amazing MCU Centre-Piece playset though. Has so much potential, and can really be so much more than just a display piece. In my opinion, the little silly gimmicks and play features are what make LEGO- LEGO!, and really help distinguish their sets and bring so much more life and flair to them. A set like this not being a playset would be a tragic fail of design, IMO. Quote
Peasantseverywhere Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 To be honest, i have no idea how lego would make an interior yet i cant see them not doing anything, because even the tumbler had all the nice interior details. if it had nothing on the interior i can imagine it to be very boring just to build the massive base with a few layers which make up the shape of the ship. Quote
Scarilian Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I wonder if it's the Avengers 'Carrier with rotors or the AoU version with repulsors. Most likely the one with rotors as they'll have had more time to work on that design Quote
mattdev25 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Most likely the one with rotors as they'll have had more time to work on that design Agreed. Plus, I don't know how they would be able to make a repulsor-based flight system, rotors would be much easier in term of building and design. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Plus, I think the Avengers version has a lot more character. It was the only one in the film, so it meant so much more when it suffered damage, as you really felt this epic piece of technology could be gone in the blink of an eye. With CA:TWS, as much as I loved the sequence with three Helicarriers, I feel that would cheapen their value as a toy, as they are not so unique, and don't have as much flair. Quote
JaseTJ Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 For those concerned about fitting a playset inside the Hellicarrier... Consider the fact that it's essentially two big boxes on top of one another (there are two runways, the one sits diagonally across the other). There's plenty of space under the main one for a bridge and under the other for the prison and lab. I would almost be shocked if Lego doesn't use that- it would be more than simple to have the runways come off, sitting on tiles. In fact I'll be rather disgruntled if it doesn't happen... But hey, worst scenario we all get to be a little creative with our interiors :P Quote
mattdev25 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 So with all this discussion about the Helicarrier, there hasn't been much room for the summer set speculation bout. Anyone got any ideas? I think Sandman will have a brick built sand fist sort of thing that he could use as a sort of giant goon to battle Spidey. Quote

It'll probably just be Rhino and Sandman vs Spidey I think that they'll give us some sort of civilian in the set or maybe Aunt May. The'll probably be held captive or something. Quote
Ashnflash Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I WANT TO SEE THE PICTURES OR VIDEO I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! Quote

That would be nice to see, especially if it's a truck driver that works for Banana Co. I WANT TO SEE THE PICTURES OR VIDEO I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! You're not alone, pal Quote
strangely Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I think that they'll give us some sort of civilian in the set or maybe Aunt May. The'll probably be held captive or something. As much as I'd like an updated Aunt May (As the SM2 one isn't all that great) I'd prefer someone else. I would love to get Gwen Stacy. If not her than Betty Brant or Harry Osborn or Flash Thompson. That would be nice to see, especially if it's a truck driver that works for Banana Co. As much as I enjoyed the driver minifigure I really hope they don't waste space in sets with unnamed characters again. There are plenty of supporting characters in these comics/movies/TV shows to begin with, so giving us generic guards and drivers is actually kind of ridiculous. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Having a named character in peril for every set is actually a bit contrived, and a random yet unique civilian makes it more believable. It's not always Commissioner Gordon or Lois Lane in danger. Quote
Ultron Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yeah but what can you really do with them in a superhero display? They just look kinda out of place...Save those guys for the City sets Quote
Neomars Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm really excited to finally get a complete Sinister Six. I wonder if we're going to get a White Tiger to finish off the Spideyvengers or whatever they call themselves. Don't really watch the show, just collect the sets. Quote
JaseTJ Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Just thought I'd shout it out: Apparently the super-jumper pieces in the Justice League sets can crack 'figs legs. I don't recall those being in AoU sets, but I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel had them at some point. Quote

Those Super Jumpers (which I personally hate) are in all the AoU sets except for the one with Iron Man and the two Ultron drones Quote

I wonder if we're going to get a White Tiger to finish off the Spideyvengers or whatever they call themselves. Don't really watch the show, just collect the sets. Huh? All we will have is Doc Ock and Sandman. We would still need Vulture, Kraven, Mysterio, and 616 Electro. Quote
JaseTJ Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 So... Just how crazy would it be to get a Fantastic Four comic set...? Sure, Disney/Marvel don't really want to market for Fox or whoever has FF... But they've made two X-Men sets, one of which clearly coinciding with a Fox movie. And we're supposed to get 2 more sets this summer that we don't know anything about, right? Plus Johnny is black in the new movie. If they made a set based on the comics he wouldn't be. There's only so far that would go towards assisting the movie with marketing, amiright? So, I mean... There's hope... right? There's gotta be... Sorry, I just watched the older movie again tonight While it may not have been perfect, it made me realize how badly I want Lego to make them Quote
