LMB10 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Yes it is, being discussed in the Marvel thread Edited January 29, 2015 by LMB10 Quote
Artifex Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Thanks. I tried looking for a discussion on the helicarrier alone and I couldn't find it, so I decided to post is. Maybe some moderator can please merge this topic? Thanks in advance. Quote
XAxles Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 If someone's gonna but the set just for the figs, what's the point of the whole set? TLG might as well just make a special line like the NBA Players figs as an end-all, "Win-win" solution. You are gonna buy the Helicarrier, not Maria Hill, Steve Rogers, Nick Fury, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanova figures bundled with a big model of a gigantic flying piece of concrete housing a few kites. Ultron Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 You have obviously never bought a Star Wars set if you think that 2996 pcs should equal $300. The Tumbler was $200 for 1869 pcs and 2 minifigs. Sure it would be nice to have a bunch of minifigs but we have no idea what parts are inside this thing. Are there a lot of larger pieces we can't see are all the yellow lines and shield logos printed or are they stickers? All of this could raise the price of the set. The tumbler is a lot closer to a fair price per parts ratio than this. Sure this may have more big plates and stuff that drive the price up, but that's why I'm saying they should've put more effort into the minifigs at what they're expecting us to pay. Quote
XAxles Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 You know what, wait for the designer video. AND WATCH IT. Then go weigh in on this set again. Quote
Scarilian Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) these trophy figures seem to me like an ant man like that is inevitable. This was announced a while back, that the Ant-Man set would include both a normal sized and a micro figure version of the character >< You know what, wait for the designer video. AND WATCH IT. Then go weigh in on this set again. Thats what everyone will do, but i suppose the main annoyance for people is the figures and the price, everyone had hoped for more exclusives to help justify the high price. Everyone wants Bruce Banner and Agent Coulson, nobody really desired Hawkeye considering he gets a cheap AoU set. Edited January 29, 2015 by Scarilian Quote
XAxles Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Ah, I see why you're complaining. THEY PUT MOAR DETAIL ON THE TROPHIES INSTEAD OF GIVING A COULSON!!! BLASPHEMY! OUTRAGE! BOYCOTT TLG 4EVA!!! EVEN MOAR OUTRAGE!!! KILL THAT SET WITH FIRE AND A 500-GUN BROADSIDE!!! *races out of this forum in McLaren P1* Edited January 29, 2015 by XAxles Quote

While a few Microfigures are a nice addition to the set i feel the addition of the microfigures and mini-builds is unfortunate. Edited January 29, 2015 by Scarilian Quote
TheBrickPal Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Humina humina humina... In all seriousness, this is fantastic. The ONLY qualm I have is the lack of Coulson. Bravo, LEGO. Can't say I'll buy it, but it looks mighty fine. Edited January 29, 2015 by Puffle Pal26 Quote

Agreed. I'm thinking of getting the set and selling off the figures to offset that massive cost. EDIT: I don't know what the chances are, but that runway better not be a gigantic sticker, especially for the price we're paying. Edited January 29, 2015 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Hmm... I'm not sure... It's how one would expect LEGO to do it, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Of course brick building it would make it lose stability. I'll leave final judgement after seeing the designer video. If I was into Marvel I'ld add tiles to it and cover up the studs. Dunno why it bothers me here but not on the Sandcrawler.. Quote

Nobody asked for, or wanted, microfigures. Quote
elederberg Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I don't get what all the hate is about. Yes the price to piece ratio may be a little expensive, and yes most people were not expecting micro figures, but I really like it and I think that until we see the Designer video people should stop freaking out. Also even though we didn't Coulson, which we eventually will, I think Nick Fury and Maria Hill look great. Quote
Ultron Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Exactly. We have the right to be disappointed in a product. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The ship itself looks pretty good, and I like the minifigures. But those trophyfigs? Incredible. They are definitely my favorite part of this thing. Pity I will never be able to get this set--$350 Quote

They are definitely my favorite part of this thing; the detailing is superb, and it opens up a whole new range of scale for building dioramas or vignettes. If only there were some trophyfig villains, as well. Pity I will never be able to get this set--$350 prices me right out of it--but I hope to pick those trophies up separately on the secondary market. Edited January 29, 2015 by rodiziorobs Quote
Ultron Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I like that the runways are printed. I was worried about how hard it would be to get a sticker on that huge. Overall a nice set that I will buy but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed. Quote
Quicksilver Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The function with the rotating wind turbines is cool, but still can't save the set for me. I still don't know how they could have designed it better, so this is what we get. Also, at the end of the video it showed the Marvel Kids Logo. Cause Kids really want a Helicarrier with few play features over a Hulkbuster. Quote
strangely Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The trophy's almost look like bootlegs to me. I am impressed by the technic system though. Quote
Robianco Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 After watching the video and hearing the designer talk about it I think the set makes really good sense... and the choices they've made do too. They've done something a little different and introduced microscale elements to a big build. There must be a huge amount of framing inside that thing and the engine function is a nice touch... they've also allowed for it to be motor driven with power functions so that's nice too. They've given 2 exclusive figures although I agree that Barton and Romanov seem like odd choices to add but they have and that's it. I've more of a grumble over Nick Fury's design in that I don't think the coat design looks like the long jacket I pictured... I actually think My Christo custom does the job better with a fabric trench coat. Maria Hill is a nice figure although maybe we could look at a new face print but if WW's head works then fine then so be it. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 It would be nice to have the discussion about the Helicarrier in the actual dedicated thread. Thanks. Quote
Sam892 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 This set looks pretty cool, but I'm unsure as to whether I'll get it or not. After watching the video I have to say that its certainly a huge achievement but I'm a bit disapointed by the power functions stuff. Not it won't look cool all with lights and spinning turbines, but it means in order to get the Helicarrier at it's best you have to spend another like £50 on top of the already huge amount it will cost. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Nice to know that the large plates are printed--as it would not have been the first time they used stickers for those things. I don't know if I like that Lego is advertising that you can add power features though--if they are not included. Basically it's like "hey; didn't feel like you spent enough on your $350 ship? Why not spend even more on it!" Quote
XAxles Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I don't know what the chances are, but that runway better not be a gigantic sticker, especially for the price we're paying. Nope, no paper seams on the flight deck. Quote
