My mistake, got a few things wrong in that;

The release of the set is on the 19th of February to the 28th for VIP's.

I think you mean from the 17th to the 28th for VIP's, at least in the U.S.

They both get to make toys but profits are split i believe.

No, only Marvel does merchandising. Hence why there will be no toys for the upcoming Fantastic Flop movie and also why there were no toys and little merchandising for Days of Future Past. Spidey is too much of a cash cow so that's why there's always toys and stuff with his movies even though he lies with Sony.

I'm inclined to largely agree with this assessment (would be great to have an insider confirm).

Stated again, Sony (Spidey) or Fox (FF / X-Men) only have film rights. Of course, if there is merchandise related directly with said films, then of course there maybe some kind of split. But Marvel / Disney does not split any profits from the Ultimate Spidey sets with Sony -- why would they? USM is content / production which is 100% in-house: produced by Marvel Animation Studios, distributed by Disney / ABC television.

Now perhaps as an incentive to get Marvel to agree to do merchandising for Amazing Spider-Man, Sony fronts most or all of the marketing costs associated with merchandising -- who knows, but it's pretty clear that Marvel is doing its best to market products related to MCU, and if there is any merch from film content outside of MCU, I'm guessing that the marketing costs are heavily underwritten by the non-Marvel entity.

But my original point stands: if Marvel wanted to do a Galactus figure, they could easily do one -- they simply stick to the Comic version (e.g. the one that appears in the video game).

That was the point of my post which I think some people misunderstood, until a few days ago, the UK release was meant to be the 17th for a VIP until it was pushed back 2 days to the 19th. So I'm wondering if anyone in the countries has checked in the last couple of days with a LEGO shop to see if there's been any change in release date there as well.

Also Marvel has a complete merchandising ban on FF properties, as long as that's in place we won't be getting any lego sets on them.

About Infinity War, do we know if Marvel is going to gloss over The Illuminati? Mr. Fantastic and Professor X are members, so it is likely. No figs for them any time soon either.

On the other hand, Tony Stark and Black Bolt are members. We should be getting Black Bolt, and a bunch of other interesting figs, as we are getting an Inhumans movie in the future.

Doctor Strange (upcoming movie) could take one of the places, and maybe Nick Fury could take another. I know how Lego could do the good doctor. The Eye of Agamotto can be made with the CMF medal part. The current CMF Dark Wizard's cape top piece is almost the exact shape needed for his cape collar.

Namor has yet to be established in the movies, but he also plays both sides. He would be relatively easy to make with the CMF elf piece in black with fleshie ears. The make-up of the Cabal is equally spotty, with both FF and Spidey villains as members.

All speculation, I know. I just wanted to share my thoughts.

From my Understanding Marvel owns Namor and can make movies about him. However Universal has the distribution rights to him, as Kevin Feige confirmed when asked about another solo Hulk Movie. (As Universal still has the rights to him).

Would love to get some official Illuminati figs, as it stand I have to settle on my own MOC versions:

Guys! Really! This is about the LEGO sets, not who owns what and where to make movies! Please stay on topic.

That may be true, but it matters about who owns what because Lego is merchandise, and lately the feud between companies may mean no X-Men or FF sets (merchandise) in the near future.

Look, no disrespect... But who owns what, especially as relating to merchandising like almost all of that conversation, is directly related to what sets we will/won't get. I'm not saying they didn't go off-topic at all, but at the same time maybe what you consider to be "on-topic" is too narrow? Nobody's been complaining for a long time, and as far as I've witnessed the conversation has stayed more-or-less on topic.

Just some thoughts to consider, seeing as without us you wouldn't have anyone to moderate in the first place. I realize this is "Euro"bricks, but a lot of us are Americans, and I'm pretty sure people tend to be fairly free in most of Europe. Can we just have some tiny degree of freedom of speech? Again, I respect your authority as a mod, so I suppose your decision will be final either way (unless CM disagrees), but it seems to me that there's no problem here.

It's completely off topic and I don't think pulling a 'America and most of Europe are free' is particularly helpful.

I think the mods across the whole board have been far more lenient than in recent years but if one feels the need to bring things back in line then they're not doing it just because they feel like it.

It shouldn't take people complaining to flag if people are posting irrelevant rubbish and being left to its own devices these threads have been known to go to pot with a complete lack of self policing from members.

I'd take the comment as a cue to be more mindful of what we're all posting rather than to post a condescending reply.

So... Getting back on topic... Again...

We should get some pictures of The Carnage Shield Strike and Rhino Sandman supervillain team up sets soon as NYTF is next week and they allow photography.

Still not sure about when we get Ant Man pics. We did get Milano Spaceship Pictures during the NYTF week.

I'm really appreciating all of the obscure and totally unexpected characters Lego as been putting out such as Miles Morales, Carnage, Maria Hill, Iron Spider, MODOK, Taskmaster and Falcon.

Hopefully we get some more cartoon and comic book sets in 2016. (Apocalypse...)

Finally pics of the back of the Hydra Base! And Strucker and quicksilver.

I fear for the moment that Kevkipo gets to see close ups of Quicksilver. The board doesn't have sound thankfully! ;)

The sound will probably wake up Ben Parker...

Do we have word yet on which retail chain the Hydra Fortress is Exclusive to?

I really hope its not Target for us Canadians.

Lego is awesome.

Until a evil sentient robot kills all of the Avengers.

Only 4 weeks until all of us get our hands on the AOU sets.

I thought those rights expired from lack of development 10 years ago?

And as others have said, where the licenses lie and what the merchandise split is has a direct impact on whether we see sets of a given subject. At this point we will NOT be seeing FF sets. Word is Marvel has exercised their veto power on all merchandising of the characters to distance themselves from the FF movie. We may see some X Men stuff since it is a cash cow, but as far from the Fox movie as they can get. Whereas Sony gave back most of their merchandise split in the last negotiations with ?Marvel, so Marvel will happily promote Spiderman.

Uh, but it doesn't matter in "this thread"

This thread is about what we already know, weather already released or rumored for 2015 only. It is not a place to talk about what might come in the near future or wish list of what we want. Who belongs to what, and who has the rights to who belongs somewhere else, not here. It's honestly really really simple to understand yet some still dont get it. If what you want to type has nothing to do with current 2015 sets or 2015 rumored sets, then don't post it. Simple.

We're supposed to be adults yet some here have the restraint of a 10 year old.

I'm sure knowones been more vocal than me about the constant off topic posts and wanting mods to finally do something about it like they used too. They finally step in like they should and now we have people trying to go against them. Learn to stay relevant to "this topic" and they wouldn't have to step in. Once again, simple...

Perfect reason to just have one thread set up for future sets in the theme as opposed to just yearly ones.
