The Nova Corps in the MCU are an abomination.

Sam is THE Nova in the Marvel Universe now, with Richard dead and gone.

I'm not a huge comic fan (although I'd like to be, and it feels like a sin to really enjoy comic characters such as Iron Man and Nova and not be into comics), so I had to re-look up the backstory of Nova and Star-Lord. Apparently I was duped (like many of the characters in that particular comic) into thinking they both died during the same event.

Personally I like Sam's design better. But again, I'm a no-comics infidel. I just know the inclusion of Rhomann Dey and the Nova Corps into GotG made me a bit suspicious.

That was Sam Alexander Nova.

The fact that Sam's helmet is BLACK is a HUGE deal. It has never, nor will ever be gold. The entire Gold Corps perished in Annilation, Richard included.

The Nova minifigure is based off of Sam Alexander from Ultimate Spider-Man.

In the show, Sam has the yellow helmet, and doesn't get the blue one until season three.

The Nova minifigure is Sam; end of story.

We've established that, hahaha.

The fact is that people are asking for a Richard minifig...and he would look exactly like the 'Sam' one we already have.

Until this thread, I had no idea that there was this alternate version of Sam, or that the Nova minifig could possibly be anyone BUT Richard. Hahaha.

To dispel some confusion: I was asking for a highly detailed Nova minifig. The current one is pretty sparse (but still nice!). And the only reason I picked Richard was that he seems the better choice out of the two Novas as a candidate for a movie, and MCU minifigs have the nicest attention to detail (for better or for worse).

Granted, we are getting some nice detail on the sets coming out later this year from the Spider-Man line that aren't MCU (I love both Miles and Carnage and plan to pick that set up as soon as it shows up in the US), so maybe there's hope for a promotional, accurate Sam Alexander fig, perhaps in a polybag in 2017 or beyond. No SDCC prices, please.

Being an AFOL is suffering. Hahaha.

Also, for anyone who is confused, here's the Ultimate Spider-Man version of Sam Alexander as Nova, and his minifig (why they chose red for his 'energy' on his hand's I'll never know):

Very strange, indeed. Again, maybe we can just chalk it down to "bright, good-guy colors for the kids" as their choice for gold and navy.

It's so wierd, and incredibly disrespectful to both characters. Especially Sam (who was, it so happens, created by Loeb as a tribute to his dead son...making reading those first issues insanely moving).

I can't see why they would disrespect Richard's story (and the death of the entire Nova Corps), as well as Sam (who inherited his helmet from his presumed dead father, who was a member of the elite Black Nova Corps...thus the Black helmet, and never gold).

I get that none of you actually read the comics...but nothing but the comics matter to me. The movies and all are interesting enough (and provide fun merchandise...like Lego!), but nothing that goes on on tv or the movies 'matters' in my head. Hahaha.

To each thier own though. :D

I agree the Nova Corps in the MCu SUCKED, and whats worst is that James Gunn said Nova won't be in the new movie. This is trully saddening since we might never get a perfect Nova figure with all the respect it deserves. Now back to the SDCC exclusives..The past years there have been FOUR minifigure exclusives, I trully TRULLY hope if there are in fact other two figures for SDCC they better not be Marvel or Dc. Until we get confirmation there aren't anymore figures, I'm not calling victory over the dodged quicksilver or spider gwen figures.

On another topic, I wonder if MCU's Hope Van Dyne will be one of the exclusive characters given away at SDCC somewhat in the vein of The Collector last year. Would make sense as it would be publicising a marvel movie and its a figure that's not in the Ant Man set, strange thing not to include if you ask me as they could've reused the tauriel head and changed eyebrows to black and used the hairpiece from Claire Dearing in Dark Brown/Black and for what comes in the set another figure would have made the value for money better and given us the four principal characters. However I suppose its not a big loss as she might appear in future films and maybe future sets. Who knows i'm hoping no exclusives that we really badly want cause two years prior to this Spider-man was a gut punch.

Very interesting choice and reasoning. But if she was to be an SDCC she indeed be better released in stores later on.

Oh, I hope not. I'm already jonesing for Sam Wilson. Two insanely expensive hunts this year would just cheese me off, hahaha.

Although, it would kill me even more if they made a Janet exclusive (much more likely, imho, as she serves as a mere plot point in the Ant-man film, with no future role in the MCU).

Hopefully they include Hope in one of the Civil War sets next year though. I'd love a Wasp figure at some point! :D

I read the comics. I don't know everything about all of the characters but I can give you basic information about them. I haven't been able to get as many comics here recently, than how many I got last year ( it's because of all the lego I've gotten this year). I have read more of Sam Alexander's books than Richard Rider's , but I prefer Rider over sam.

If we do get a Wasp exclusive figure I really wouldn't mind. There is the possibility of getting her in an Avengers Assemble set next year.

You mean Sam Alexander. ;)

Is the Winter Solder figure not showing up on Shop at Home for anyone else? I was putting off ordering until late June and I guess I missed out on the promotion.

I still see it

EDIT: Ok never mind, it is gone. I missed my chance noOooooo! If you order quickly they might give it to you, last time in the black friday promo, the promo wasn't in the home page anymore. However after ordering a few minutes later, they sent a mail telling me they would send it regardless of it not being in the home page anymore. So the sooner you order the greater the chance! (Or maybe they where just in a really good mood)

I think it was set to be done on the 22nd

Well, I missed out on the Winter Soldier at my Lego Store by $20. Wanted to get the Ant Man set to get the polybag, but it was sold out and they didn't have anything else that I wanted to buy. Fingers crossed for a Martian Manhunter incident where the promo fig is still exclusive but another version comes out in a set. Please let WS come in an affordable set for Civil War. :excited:

I would have just bought another $20 set and when they get the Antman set in do an exchange.

Yeah I should have. Darn. I hope that I won't regret this and that we will see WS in the near future. Honestly, the figure is pretty cool at best. MCU version next year, fingers crossed.

I thought it lasted all month. Oh, well. I might buy one off of Bricklink when the hype for Civil War gets big. He'll probably be be in a CA:CW set in a different outfit next spring.

I would recommend getting him now while he's cheap. If it's anything like the Hulk minifig he's going to double in price later.

Winter Soldier is set to play a pretty pivotal role in Civil War. He'll definitely be in the sets.

He will definitely be in the sets, but will his appearance be the same? His role as mercenary has already played out, so I wouldn't be surprised if he looks different than in CA:TWS (even though, fron what I know, that's kind of his only look in the movie/cartoons/comics, with maybe a few changes in the details).

Yeah, I can't see him looking all that much different.

Despite Captain America's constant costume changes in the movies (and the minifigs have captured three different looks now), he always looks more or less recognizably 'Cap'.

Bucky has a distinct costume. It pays homage to his original costume as Cap's sidekick during WWII, while looking deciedly less cartoonish. They'll likely switch it up a bit for the next film (everyone gets little changes from film to film), but it will still be recognizably 'Winter Soldier' I'm sure.
