Rinzler Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 That Rocket fig could most definately be released as Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 comes out in 2017 Quote
LMB10 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 As much as I'd love that Rocket in a poly bag, I'd much prefer a minifig scale Groot, with Woody-length arms and legs. The current one is horrible Quote
Sam892 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I can't imagine us not getting that Rocket variant, I mean LEGO didn't make exclusives prints for 1960 batman and Robin at SDCC. So I'm assuming we will see him in either a set or Polybag soon. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 By that logic, we're getting the Collector as well. While Rocket does seem a little more likely, some of the other exclusives are just as detailed. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Rocket sort of reminds me of that shirtless Darth Maul minifigure from a few years ago. I don't do a great job at keeping up with LEGO Star Wars, but if I remember correctly didn't it first appear in a SDCC set as a perceived exclusive and then later get somewhat wider distribution? Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) It was a polybag S@H exclusive (I'm just guessing), and recieved a robot-legs Clone Wars variation later on. Edited July 29, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote

Correct, it was a NYTF 2012 exclusive and everyone went crazy for it....until the mass distribution came out. But that's Star Wars, it "almost" seems like TLG does not wanna release exclusive minifigures for that theme but love to do so with super heroes Quote
LMB10 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 If I had to guess, I'd say we'll probably see SDCC Rocket in a poly bag, but with all red-legs instead of the multi-colour ones. In a perfect world there would be a minifig-scale Groot either in there or as a DVD/BluRay preorder bonus as well. Quote
Cammo Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) What do you guys think about the rocket raccoon figure in the SDCC set. What's the percentage on seeing the exact figure again? Almost none because (attention Spoiler for the movie): They receive their blue outfits at the end of the movie. Edited July 29, 2014 by Cammo Quote

Not really, I'm referring to the fact that all of the limited edition 'sets' at SDCC like the Warbird, 60's Batmobile and The Ghost all had pre existing minifigures in pre existing outfits. The one exception being Rocket who was in a new outfit, however since both the other sets had existing minifigures I'm taking it as a sign that red uniform Rocket is in an upcoming set/ PolyBag. The Collector is billed as an exclusive. Quote
Captain America fan 1 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Maybe rockets red outfit will come with the movie like they did with the hobbit. Quote

TheLegoExperience Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) I'm betting that the Rocket fig will be a S@H bonus with the usual $100 purchase some month soon. If it is the bonus, it will probably be in March and you'll probably have to pay 75 dollars/euros, since this has been the case with the last three exclusives. CorneliusMurdock Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 It makes much more sense to be released around the time of the movie. It'll probably show up at TRU or Target soon. Quote
InfiniteSD Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Almost none I have to agree for your exact reasoning. If we do see anymore GOTG sets with the next movie I'm sure they will be diffetent. Quote
Rinzler Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Are we forgetting that there is an upcoming cartoon also? Plenty of new characters could come from there Quote
Pheonix1604 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Has anybody heard if there will be a set with Coulson in it. I really want to add him to my collection. :) Quote

I really want to add him to my collection. :) No word on any future sets besides that there will be Avengers 2 sets. Since Coulson is no longer in the MCU Movie Universe, I doubt he would appear there. I think it is a slight possibility in the Spiderman cartoon sets. Quote
KCMatze Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I doubt we get a Coulson, since he died in Avengers 1... that clearly means no Coulson, even if he is present in cartoons. I would not say no to him, but I - for me - do not need him as he is not a super hero, and would look like a random citizen next to Cap, Thor, Iron Man etc. Quote

So I'd say his chances are just as much the same as ever. I'm sure we'll see him thrown into a set at some point. Quote
Dharkan Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I don't want to get him with AoU sets. We can get him later on with the eventual AoS sets if the serie does not blow up. Quote

There's plenty of opportunity to get a Coulson but he's also incredibly easy to create a custom of if it's something you really need. Edited July 30, 2014 by Robianco Quote
Ikkad555 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I've been thinking it over for some time now, and I think I've gotten the minifig list down for AoU. Do take note that this list is purely speculation, and does not serve as rumor. You see, for every year that the Marvel theme has been around, we've always gotten around 15 different minifig designs in the mass-release sets, give or take a bigfig. In 2012, we saw 3 minifigs for the X-Men, three for USM, and 9 for The Avengers, excluding Hulk the big fig. That's fifteen already. 2013 gave us 7 minifig designs for USM, and 8 for Iron Man 3. This year is an oddity for having given us two waves of Marvel sets, and each of them, not counting any big figs or brick-built figures, gave us 13 different minifig designs, counting Spider-Man (the Juniors line gives us an additional number due to the Venom fig, but I don't know if I should count that). The numbers still skew closely to 15 however, and perhaps two waves of 13 is the new number to look out for. Keeping that in mind, we can assume that the Age of Ultron wave of 2015 -- which we are hoping is the first of two waves -- will contain 13-15 individual minifigure designs. With the characters confirmed to be in the cast, I've devised this list: AGE OF ULTRON MINIFIGS Iron Man Captain America Thor Black Widow Hawkeye Scarlet Witch Quicksilver The Vision Ultron Ultron protoype/drone*Along with them, it's assured that we will get a new variation of the Hulk big fig. What colors he'll be in is yet to be seen. That gives us a total of 10 minifigures for the Age of Ultron subtheme, and if we are to assume that we are getting an additional wave later in the year, then we have three more minifig designs to go. Three non-AoU minifigs is enough to put into a $20 set, similar to the X-Men set that was released alongside 2012's The Avengers wave. I don't have a clue what media that set will pull from, though. If we are only getting one wave (which I believe to be unlikely, given that Marvel has another movie out next year), then we have two more minifig spots, which might allow for a War Machine and Baron Strucker minifigs.
