Strikeman Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 So ... It has been awfully quiet around FanWelt 2014. The only information I can find so far is at the official page for the Model Train Fair (IMA), which has some up to date information and a countdown counter. The Model Train Fair is 20th - 23rd November 2014, and Lego FanWelt should be 21st - 23rd November, along with Lego KidsFest. However, when you click through to the FanWelt page, you arrive here and as you might already know, this page still has all the information concerning FanWelt 2012. So, my question is simple: how can we subscribe to this event to participate ? I've been to FanWelt 2 years ago and it is a really wonderful place; I'd like to go again, and maybe even exhibit something, but there is no information to be found anywhere. If there's nobody from the German LEGO AFOL community here who knows something, I'm inclined to contact the IMA people directly and see if they can shine a light on this for me ? Quote
Xcod119 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I can honestly say I have no idea, but thanks for informing me that cologne has a fan world, just annoying that I was there last Tuesday! Sorry for not being of any help Quote
Strikeman Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Since nobody had any more information, I have contacted the people that organise the event myself. It has taken some time to get an anwser, but last night I finally received one. So, for any English speaking person waiting for more information, here is the reply I got: Hello, I got your email from the fair. Yes, our Fanwelt homepage is unfortunately not actual, but we are working for a new site. I feel so sorry for the less information but we have different reasons for this. Now we are hard working for the event and we hope it will be a fine event. The LEGO® Fanwelt will take place from November 21st to November 23rd at the Cologne trade fair in hall 2.1. We will begin with building up all the fantastic models on November 16th and will end at November 22th. You will get a little bit more information in German at our homepage www.mbfr.org Hopefully we will put in the next week an first application form (German / English) into the download-area of our website. On their homepage there is indeed some more information in German, translated here in English (part Google part me): Dear AFOLs, first of all we would like as MBFR - Board to apologize to you. For a very - too - long time you haven't gotten any information about LEGO fan world in 2014. Unfortunately, the times are very turbulent. In MBFR we had to look for new solutions to maintain the event for you, the LEGO® fans, due to health and work-related outages . But now it is clear: FanFest is from 21/11/2014 - 23/11/2014 in the Cologne exhibition hall LEGO Fan World. We are working hard on a new website that we hope to put online in two to three weeks but we want to feed you with some information concerning the fanworld: - This year, the exhibition area of the LEGO fan world will smaller than 2012. The main reason is the advanced time of the year. On the other hand, we are proud to announce you that the LEGO fan world will be still bigger than the first event of 2008. - The popular stalls will be there again this year. - Also it is like in previous years, that we have a cost sharing again and the the opportunity to stay in the hotel (this time in the exhibition center). Exhibitors and helpers who plan to travel with a mobile home, get a parking space close to the fair. - For exhibitors and helpers 2014 there is again a so-called participation fee and the possibility to have food provided at the fair, including participation in our AFOL-evening. The fee amount is slightly smaller then the one from 2012 - We will share Hall 2.1 with our partner LEGO with their LEGO Kids Event. This is the already known construction and game world event known here from last LEGO fan world. - Finally another word about the setup (for exhibitioners): This will start on Sunday 16/11/2014. I hope you are happy with this positive news and are looking forward to THE event in Cologne. Greetings The Board of MBFR eV Anna Elke Oliver Quote
Strikeman Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 More information about FanWelt, this time for people that'd like to exhibit ! You can download the exhibition forms via this post here: http://www.mbfr.org/smf/index.php?topic=2210.0 Please use your prefered translation service to help you understand what's in the documents as these documents are binding. Since the floor space for FanWelt will be a little bit smaller than last year, and in case the floor is full before the deadline of 10 October, the application dates will be used to determine who can and who can not exhibit at FanWelt !! Hope to see you guys there, I know I'm going Quote
Aredhel Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Good to know ;-) Always took a look to the side but til some days ago there was no form to participate. I am still thinking about taking part, too. Quote
Rolli Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 If anybody has issues with the application forms due to being in German I'm happy to help! I'll be there from Thursday to Sunday, hoping to meet some fellow EB-folk! Quote
Skalldyr Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I would like to come as a visitor. The problem is that I don't know yet where I'll be studying in November. But I hope I can manage it and am looking forward to meet some EB-Friends! Quote
Legogal Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Skalldyr, Hope you make it to FanWelt! Then you can win all of the speed building and memory building contests! Can you get someone to video you doing this so we can enjoying watching you do your miracle builds again? It was just too much fun watching you build at EB 2014. OMG!!! Aredhel Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I finally decided to participate :) so cool to see some familiar and new faces there. If anyone needs help don't hesitate to ask @Legogal: do you come too? Quote
BEAVeR Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I'll be visiting on saturday. I'm looking forward to all of the creations, and hope to meet some Eurobrickers! Quote
Legogal Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 @Aredhel: Sorry but I can't make it. Just rely on Skalldyr for entertainment as he is so darn smart and such a quick builder. (Hint: I definitely would put my money on him!) Have lots of fun and please post some photos for those of us stuck at home with minor inconveniences like ......work. What are you building for the event? Quote
Aredhel Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 @Legogal: Sad to hear you cannot come, but it's definetely very far from your place :scept: and work - well guess that's something we are always stuck in somehow to can have our hobby I will post some pics on Flickr next weekend maybe. Should be almost finished by then (I hope) Quote
Poisso3 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 We will be attending tomorrow. What can we expect to see/do? Quote
zorg Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 very disappointing this year almost no exhibitors a big part of the exhibition occupied by lego nothing to do with what I saw there 6 years Quote
Poisso3 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Not knowing what to expect we liked seeing the displayed creations, and my children liked the few LEGO areas they were able to participate. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of sales tables. All-in-All it was a good trip as we didn't spend more than 12€ on LEGOS. Maybe that was a bad thing, though... If you saw a family walking around where the father and son were both wearing black I ♡ LEGO Land shirts, that was us. Quote
