TheBrickPal Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) At the Lego Ninjago panel at SDCC today, it was confirmed that Ninjago will continue next year. There will be a new villain and a new color of ninja. They will abandon the futuristic design for Ninjago city and the story will involve the ninjas discovering that they are not the only ones who have elemental powers. That's about all they were allowed to reveal. What do you think, folks? Discuss. _____________________ Winter Wave 70745 Anacondrai Crusher 70746 Condrai Copter Attack 70747 Boulder Blaster 70748 Titanium Dragon 70749 Enter the Serpent 70750 Ninja DB X 70752 Jungle Trap 70753 Lava Falls 70754 Electro Mech 70755 Jungle Raider 70756 Dojo Showdown Video Games LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin (Spring 2015, discussion here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103116) Edited December 7, 2014 by Puffle Pal26 Quote

LegendsOfNinjago Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Same! I want buildings! I have all the vehicles from Ninjago...which is alot! Buildings! Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Interesting. Although I enjoyed the "techno" look of the 2014 sets, I'm anxious to see what they have in store. The Lego rep's comments don't give us a lot to go on, but my hunch is that the "new villain" is the leader of a group of humans (rogue ninja's perhaps?) that also have elemental powers but have chosen to use them for evil purposes. This may give next year's sets more of a "superhero vibe" but still leave room for the usual assortment of vehicles, mechs, bases, etc. They have already used fire, earth, lightning and ice for the ninjas, so that could leave air and water as elements for the baddies, along with perhaps others like "darknes/shadow" or even the elements that the ninjas use. Set-wise, I would really like to see a continued focus on smaller (i.e. $30 and under) sets. I was really pleased that they released 2 $20 sets in Wave 1 of 2014. If they did a line of impulse bag sets (like the Friends pet line) at a price point under $10 for 45-60 pieces, that would be awesome! I imagine we will get set names and perhaps piece counts next month with the usual catalog leaks and online retailer premature set list posts. Quote
Bricknblue Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I really like the future feel, but this year's temple is stunning so I won't be bad if they go that way. Sounds like an interesting idea. Maybe the movie will be about they new ninjas. I agree with TPLSTER21, the first few waves had some really nice smaller sets (which were insanely popular and I could never find them) and I'd like LEGO go back to that. Quote
PenPlays Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I'd love to remind everyone who is passing through this thread that... The Ninjago Movie comes out September 23rd, 2016 The TV series will continue with sets like normal, however. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 What do you think, folks? Discuss. My prediction? Ninjago city will be invaded by an army of carnivorous animal headed monsters with powerful elemental powers fueled by a dangerous and highly addictive narcotic. The Ninja's will have to use all of their power and abilities to combat the flesh eating monstrosities of a nature gone mad, or risk going the way of the fluffy bunny people of antiquity. The final solution will be recruiting or repurposing all of their previous non edible enemies. The Skeletons, the Stone Warriors and the Nindroids into an army to push the beasts into the sea. Quote

Yzalirk Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I'm not much of a Ninjago fan but I'm still curious to see what the sets will look like. Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Given that Winter 2015 sets should start to hit shelves in North America within the next 90 days or so, the Lego retailer catalog should be making it's rounds as we speak. Which means some info on the new sets should be incoming soon (I hope!). Last year, I believe that Brick Fanatics posted that they had heard a rumor that future waves of Ninjago would include "Impulse Sets". Obviously that didn't happen this year, but maybe this is in play for 2015? Last year saw the Star Wars Micro Fighters and Chima Legends Beasts, so perhaps this is the year for the Ninjago line to get something similar? Hopefully those members that usually get access to the catalog can fill us in on some details soon! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 They could look down a different path........alien attack ? Maybe we might start seeing some different buildings actually from Ninjago City.....one can only hope ? Quote
Jared Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I dunno, with the release of the X-1 and the Battle for Ninjago city, I feel the theme is becoming lackluster and starting to experience burn-out... but I guess it depends what 2015 will bring. Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I dunno Jared, to me the X-1 was "meh" - would have preferred a more "tank-like" vehicle over the sports car. But B.F.N.C. is a great set! As for the theme becoming lacklustre, I can see your point, but from a model perspective, this is a typical adventure theme with a mix of land/air vehicles, mechs, buildings/bases with the odd dragon thrown in for good measure! I don't see them departing from that going forward, but hopefully 2015 will bring some good models and perhaps some twists on what has already been done. For example, what about a small, brick-built dragon (say 70-100 pieces or so?). A poster on the lego bulletin boards has stated that he has information on the upcoming 2015 sets and the first thing he mentioned was that the 2015 winter wave has 7 sets. Here is the link to that thread https://community.lego.com/t5/NINJAGO/LEGO-ninjago-2015-set-list/m-p/10664719#M267791. I guess take with a grain of salt, but it does sound reasonable. Quote

That poster is saying that "The list for Ninjago 2015 is coming soon... I want seven sets." Due to the poster having EXTREMELY poor writing/typing skills, it is really confusing unless you trawl parts of the web flooded with children. The post is entirely irrelevant to an "official list," and is as fan opinion as it gets. Purely child-level speculation. It does make one curious though. What with the Ninjago Movie coming out in 2016, will Lego produce more sets for next year's wave? Or will we be sticking to a small scale Action Theme for now? Edited August 7, 2014 by Penkid11 Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Wait, so we will probably get 7 sets, sweet! I will miss the techno style of Ninjago because I really enjoyed it, all that purple! Quote
PenPlays Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Wait, so we will probably get 7 sets, sweet! I will miss the techno style of Ninjago because I really enjoyed it, all that purple! No. To rephrase what I said before. That poster wants seven sets. They have yet to see a list of sets and are posting their "wishful-thinkings." We still have no confirmation whatsoever. Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Penkid11, I re-read that person's post and I see where you are coming from. When I read it, I interpreted it as "The set list will be released in August or September. I will be getting the list from my contact sometime soon. I do have confirmation that there will be 7 sets in the upcoming wave". You are right about the punctuation/spelling. I think he forgot to put a "t" on his "I" in the last sentence which would make it "I know it will have 7 sets". I am new here and I didn't realize that the Lego forums themselves were populated by younger posters (i.e. kids). I take that info (or at this time any info) with a grain of salt. However, it does make sense to me as there were 7 sets in the 2014 winter wave. Whatever we get in 2015 I do hope that we get more than 2 sets in the summer wave and at least 6 sets in the winter wave. I guess we will find out about the winter wave shortly. Quote

There is one thing correct about that poster's assumption. We will be getting a list sometime between now and October, judging by previous years, that is. It's just the number of sets that should be taken with a grain of salt. However, I would not mind having a seven set Winter Wave at all. Here's hoping that lovely list shows up soon! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Ooohhh... But it could still be possible to get 7 sets right? Even though it is good to know we will get more sets next year. Quote
