Man, I hope we get (leaked) official images of the D2C set soon, because people in this topic are loosing their focus :hmpf_bad: . A few guys are discussing the hair colour and bloodline of Jay and Ronin, the others are complaining about Bricks & Pieces, while there are seperate topics for that.

Sorry for the rant guys  , but it would be a shame if the 100th page of this topic were to be filled with off-topic posts

You're right, but you know, I did actually make an on topic post on the last page alluding to the Ghost Dragons and what mods could be done to make them better, which everybody completely ignored as they started talking about Ronin's hair colour (of all things)! This topic can go pretty off topic once in a while though, it's kind of normal.

So, as an attempt to swing this back on topic, does anybody think the smaller ghost dragons in the sets look better with legs (like the ones I posted earlier), or are people okay with how they currently appear in the sets?

Posted

I really like the modification you did on the middle one, but I think that it does look quite good in the set as well. The 'dragon' included in the Ronin REX set looks, erm.., ridiculous. It definitely needs legs and better wings (or a smaller head), so pretty good job on that one  .

I feel like the designers did a fairly good job on the dragons on this wave overall, given that most of them are just sidekick builds. Most of them don't really need legs with articulation in my opinion. Personally, two simple clips representing claws would be sufficient.

Yeah, they're nice in themselves as sidekick builds, and I was quite surprised the dragon in the Blaster Bike set can actually pull off some nice flying poses even though it suffers from the "Ender Dragon" problem (it can only be posed in a linear fashion). The legs and extra articulation were more of an experiment to see what they looked like with appendages.

I personally prefer the "official look". For one thing, the legs you gave them are far too long.

If you can think of a way to shorten the legs, please do tell me (though the large feet might exacerbate the largeness of the legs). As far as I'm aware, it's virtually impossible to go any shorter for the two small dragons without going to illegal and/or unstable builds. The builds you see there would be pretty robust except maybe for one type of barb connection.

I don't particularly want legs, but I would suggest just using two modified 1x2 plates with handles, along with two 1x1 modified plates with clips per leg. That way, you have short legs that don't look weird in combination with wings that are locked into "flight mode". Alternatively, use one 1x1 modified plate with clip, one 1x1 modified tile with clip and one tooth piece per leg. Making the dragons capable of standing on their legs seems impossible and somewhat unnecessary. I've tried builds similar to the ones you've used a few times before, and they've always proved to be unstable and somewhat jarring. The middle one is the best, I think. At any rate, I'm going to be modifying all of these into four-legged dragons, which should solve both issues, at the cost of them resembling the original builds.

I will be honest, I'm not completely satisfied with the leg (or rather foot) design I came up with for the Ronin set's dragon, but I've now replaced it with a simpler method inspired by the Mixels. I didn't design the Cowler Dragon's legs with standing in mind, but pretty sure the other two would be able to stand. Oh, and giving them legs I think matches them better with the ghost dragon in Destiny's Bounty, which does have legs.

But then again, might these ghost dragons be made of ectoplasm themselves, hence have no need for legs, and this is what the designers intended?

Son got the Morro airjitzu set yesterday. Really cool minifigure. The thing flies as well. The cool thing with the extra weapons (useless in airjitzu) is that you can use the figures with their own weapons on the old spinners as well. :)

The Ninjago section of the Message Boards just changed a few minutes ago to a Morro skin. Which isn't really news, but I figured I'd mention it anyways...

The entire website has been updated.

The pieces are available to B&P... but ONLY if you order them by phone.

I did and I got my VERY EXPENSIVE Ninjago parts, but that's ok since I would have no other chances to get those parts apart from buying dozens of sets... and on bricklink their price will skyrocket in zero (I believe).

Worse than usual? I've found the BnP prices for Ninjago figures very fair, so it's surprising to hear this.

Thought I would piont something out I thought was kinda cool. On Wrayth, Soul Archer, Bansha and Ghoultar, they each have different colored arms, similar to the way the skeleton gerenals had different color armor. Morro also has green on, which is for the green ninja so I guess each ninja once again has an elemental enemy equivalent. just thought I'd put that out there.

That's a nice detail, good eye. It would be nice to have clear pictures of every ghost but it would probably take a while for me to put together.

I question how "exclusive" the ghost in the exculsive sets really are. I mean, I want to every Ninjago Minifig, but if the Exclusive ones look like other minifigs that doesn't really make them different figure. It would be like naming all the Stone Warriors and having to get all of those sets (even thought I did...)

My brother analyzed this earlier in the topic. Other than Morro and the four "Ghost Masters", all eleven other names ghosts share only three designs.

Ooh, nice. Especially since it has the ball and chain piece which I've been wanting to get for a while. Plus what appears to be a new shield piece. Those giant purple eyes are kind of freakishly buglike, though. But there are at two black T-shaped connectors in the set, not counting extras, so it's all good. Plus we get another female villain!

That's weird, they're STILL unavailable via their online service. So if I call them up, I should be able to buy all the new parts from the Ninjago sets I want? Correct?

Ok, I don't know if this has already been discussed, but I was looking on Brickset and noticed this battle pack under Ninjago sets for 2015, http://brickset.com/...2-1/Battle-Pack

I've got no clue where this came from, but the minifigures included are very interesting, especially the new ghost torsos and head pieces that don't appear in the current wave.

Nice find! I wonder where this came from, because it's certainly not on S@H. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one, hopefully the shop at Legoland Windsor will stock it. My local LEGO store doesn't usually stock these kind of battle packs, plus I get a nice discount perk when I buy from LLW since I have their Annual Pass

Also, that shield isn't a new piece (it looks like the Captain America shield to me), BUT... it is new in black, and new as an unprinted variant, so very nice to have

That new Ninjago battle pack should include Anacondrai Cultists instead of Ghost Warriors if Kai and Jay are in their tournament robes.

A ghost in the battle pack is named "Wooo"

How did you know that name?

The packaging image (also on Brickset) displays the names.

I'm actually kind of glad that we get the tournament outfits, since I have been focussing on the Zukin outfits. Best thing of this battle pack are of course those great exclusive ghosts (purple eyes!!!) and some great parts.

Oh, and I'm glad that we got back on track with this discussion, haha!
