Takanuinuva Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The other mech looks somewhat similar to the mech Garmadon used during the Stone army saga. Only with green instead of red. Quote
JasonEffex Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 It's also interesting that Lloyd is back on the box art but he only seems to be in the Destiny's Bounty set. He may also come in Sensei Wu's dragon. Look at the far right of the box, above where the minifigs are shown, the lighting's not great, but that guy may be wearing a green headpiece. That's not Lloyd. It's lime, like the ghost-things. Lloyd is in the Destiny's Bounty, he's just to the side of that big grey dish. Quote
LK901 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Oh gosh... I don't know what to say. Let me sum up my thoughts in an emote. Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty indeed... I want it to stay that way now I can't quite put my finger on what makes all of these look disgusting to me. The Morro Dragon looks like a badly-designed Asian dragon, the DB 2.0 is a futuristic mess, Cole's bike is designed in the weirdest way possible, the Titan Mech looks incredibly stiff (the Morro Mech is kinda cool, but it's just a ghost version of Garmadon's mech from 2013), Wu's dragon is... well, not good, and Jay's car looks like something out of Time Cruisers. Where is the Asian architectural style? Where are the half-believable vehicles? Why are all the Mech designs recycled from earlier concepts? What a let-down of a final set series (and story arc). We obviously don't share opinions....... I love the Morro Dragon. Easily the best dragon yet. Admittedly, I'm not sold on Wu's dragon, but it is not too bad. Jay's tank/car is horrible, though. Cole's bike is quite good, might pick it up. The titan mech battle is amazing. Awesome looking ghost mech. Db 2.0 is nice. Love the stern and sails, but the bow is a bit bland. Still no Airjitzu news....... Slightly worried that it might be a flop. And how is this a final set series? We're bound to get more next year. Quote
Master_Data Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) This wave looks...odd. The dragons look terrible, but the ghost figures look somewhat decent. It looks like one of the ghosts is wearing Antimatter's hood piece! Ronin probably joins the ninja- Kai's Airjitzu spinner gets launched off Ronin's vehicle. At least we get the Garma-Mech! Are we getting Garmadon or Skylor in the summer wave? I didn't spot them in the line up. Also, does anyone know what the collectible weapons are for the summer wave? And how is this a final set series? We're bound to get more next year. This may be it until the movie. Edited January 23, 2015 by Master_Data Quote
LK901 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 This may be it until the movie. I doubt it. TLG will probably release another season of the show before wrapping everything up with the movie. Or, who knows? Maybe Ninjago will become as 'core' a theme as city? Quote

Good catch, at first glance I thought it was Cole but it does seem to have a green tint to it. Quote

Maybe Ninjago will become as 'core' a theme as city? Maybe not a core theme, but it's well on it's way to becoming as much of a long runner as BIONICLE. And with BIONICLE being rebooted this year, I wouldn't be surprised if Ninjago still existed in 2025. Edited January 23, 2015 by DraikNova Quote
LK901 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Just had a better look at the Blaster bike set, and it seems that there is a function where when you twist a single axle/wheel, all three BIONICLE shooters fire..... Looks even better now Quote
LK901 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) Three? I only see two. Unless it is an asymetrical build, there is a third one on the other side. EDIT: Had a better look at Wu's dragon, is it just me or are we getting a new cannon piece? Edited January 23, 2015 by LK901 Quote
DraikNova Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I see one on each side, but there isn't one in the middle, so...? And yes, there does seem to be a new cannon piece in the Wu set, although that might just be a non-functioning one. Also, the Morro Mech seems to have a com uplink. Ah, classic Ninjago zaniness, how I've missed you. Quote
Zergos Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Great to get prelim, though very frustrating to try and figure out what the figures are in most of sets due to dark coloring. Can't wait to official pictures to decide what sets I'll grab on day 1 Quote

just2good Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Original sets plus two airjitzu sets Airjitzu stuff is... interesting... Quote
Master_Data Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Morro looks good and Wrayth will be an instant buy if it has the Antimatter hood (I can't tell, but it looks incredibly similar). If only the sets looked as good as the figures... Quote
TheBrickPal Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 This is an interesting wave. It'll be cool to find out how they transition from the Tournament of Elements to this. I love the mechs, and Ronin R.E.X. looks like one giant Christmas-colored flying cockpit... Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Original sets plus two airjitzu sets: http://imgur.com/a/1U8en That's either going to work horribly, or be awesome. The only question is how do you win? Because the giant fan blades kind of make it a little( ) bit difficult to knock the figure over. Of course, they could just be resting loosely inside - but if that's the case, how are they going to stay inside long enough to take off... I love the mechs, and Ronin R.E.X. looks like one giant Christmas-colored flying cockpit... This is definitely a long shot. But what if R.E.X. is a play on the word wrecks? If you compare it to the DB, they use a lot of the same shapes and parts... It couldn't be that it was assembled from fragments of the Bounty, could it? Say...Parts of a wreck*? *Which instantly points out the problem that the word 'wrecks' is either a plural noun, or a verb...What if it's parts of different wrecked ships? Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Can't see the pictures on that site at all. :c Can't they be placed on somewhere like Flickr or the site that TTV uses to store prelim images? Quote
CET23 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Do I see black Shruikens? I saw that too, but I'm a little worried that they are just placeholders at this point since the artwork on the box shows them holding gold shruikens. Quote
Mandate Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Ew, Airjitzu. Way to make a bad wave even worse. The Morro Dragon is a curvy, frozen mess. It's a display model that misses the point entirely of its source material. An Asian dragon is meant to be incredibly flexible, like a snake, but this isn't flexible, it's structured like a Western dragon but made to look like an Asian one. It's going to look incredibly odd "in flight", and the wings are fabric sheets. Worst dragon ever, IMO. Wu's dragon just looks far too clean, and the wings look very odd. Cole's bike is so weirdly shaped that I hate it. The Titan Mech battle? Both Mechs are recycled concepts with some minor change. From here and here. My biggest problem is how it looks like there's only one limb and a foot per leg. The DB 2.0 also misses the point. While there being an actual cabin this time is lovely, the brick-built dragon head looks nothing short of atrocious and the Asian style is completely missing. Quote
BringHimSoup Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Jeez, those are just preliminary pictures and everyone is criticizing them already. No wonder TLG doesn't like leaked pictures Quote
DuckBricks Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Jeez, those are just preliminary pictures and everyone is criticizing them already. No wonder TLG doesn't like leaked pictures But they can't be THAT far from the actual set... For example, LEGO isn't oing to completely change the build of the Titan Mechs for the actual set... Quote
Mandate Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 (edited) But they can't be THAT far from the actual set... For example, LEGO isn't oing to completely change the build of the Titan Mechs for the actual set... I'm wondering exactly why they've suddenly banished Mechs from the land of have-knees. Like, seriously, this is ridiculously stupid that not a single Mech this year has had knees unless it's a Star Wars set. The only Mech that comes close to having knees is a Creator set, and even then the entire lower limb is its foot at the same time. Look, the problem I have with these sets isn't the sets themselves. Because by themselves, yeah, they're pretty neat. It's because this is NINJAGO that I'm upset. None of this "feels" like NINJAGO. There's no bright colors on the boxes, there's no Asian-inspired vehicles, the dragons are incredibly far from what we've received in the past, and it feels more like Time Cruisers mixed with Monster Hunters.
