Ninja of Fire Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Really? He posted a video of these pictures earlier (with his secondary account), crediting Ninjago Master (I think). Quote
PenPlays Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 That's Curtis Cheung's account... When did this kid get the status of "premier Ninjago newsie?" Please note that I still drool at Sensei's print, even after an hour of ogling. Quote
DuckBricks Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 When did this kid get the status of "premier Ninjago newsie?" Ha! I feel the same! Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Jay One is gonna be about $39.99 and the Chain Cycle whatever will be about $29.99 Hi just2good. Is your source able to provide any other details on the Chain Cycle set like piece count, included minifigs, where being sold if retail exclusive and even what is in the set? Also, given Chain Cycle is 70730, Jai Walker is 70731 and Blaster Bike is 70733, can your source provide any insight as to the other set - 70732? Does that one even exist? I had hoped to have the set list fleshed out by now! Any info is appreciated! Quote

Master_Data Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) There's no way that new ninja isn't Nya. She and Lloyd look amazing, but I'm not liking the Cole redesign. Hoping that we get Skylor in the D2C. When should we be getting information on that? On an unrelated note, arm and leg printing has become more common on minifigures over the past few years. Why can't we get any printing on side of the ninja's legs like in their promotional art? Arm printing would also be a big bonus. Edited March 29, 2015 by Master_Data Quote

Given that I think it's slated for an August release, we should hear something (from LEGO at least) in late June / early July. Can't wait to see what figures are in that set which I can burn my money on, or what it looks like Quote
DraikNova Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Yeah, that's definitely Nya. You can even see her eyebrows. Quote
PenPlays Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Yeah, that's definitely Nya. You can even see her eyebrows. And the symbol; don't forget the symbol. The one that so many people tried to disprove me of for boldly claiming was Nya's... Lest we forget that the DB2 includes her helmet hair... Edited March 29, 2015 by Penkid11 Quote
Mandate Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 And the symbol; don't forget the symbol. Yes, let's not forget the symbol: They're similar, but not the same (which was my argument all along). Quote
Ninja of Fire Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Yes, let's not forget the symbol: They're similar, but not the same (which was my argument all along). Yes, you're right. The symbol is similar, but I reckon the new one looks more elemental. Quote
Mandate Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Not really. The new symbol looks more like one of the ninja's own symbols, and seems like an attempt to push Nya away from the fire motif she's always carried. I love seeing Nya taking on her roles as the ninja of water but... well, it just doesn't build on prior expectations. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 With Nya being the ninja of water, it'll be interesting to see if there will be anymore new Ninja of elements we have yet to see or if any of the elemental masters join the Ninja Quote
Mandate Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 With Nya being the ninja of water, it'll be interesting to see if there will be anymore new Ninja of elements we have yet to see or if any of the elemental masters join the Ninja Please no. Pretty much well every female character that had potential and an established character has been completely ruined after season 4. PIXAL is now a redundant plot device no one ever cares about or mentions, Skylor becomes completely useless after the finale, and Nya is about to undergo a significant (and stupid) change that destroys the "independence" theme she had going. Samurai of water, c'mon, it's not that hard to do. As for more female characters being introduced, PIXAL and Skylor are sadly shining examples of why I hope no more come. I want to see more of them, but if they can't keep even Nya consistent or someone like Misako or seemingly Skylor even relevant for more than one season, there's no point. Back on-topic, I hope I'm not the only one disgusted with how little effort went into detailing the ninja's "dragon" insignias on any of the Winter minifigs. The details were blurry and far inferior to the original 2011 versions, and despite the originals being far smaller they had a higher level of detail than the Winter ones. Quote
PenPlays Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Anybody think that Nya might be the Ninja of Air? Airjitzu has to be significant somehow, and the elemental motif change on Nya's emblem could represent air as much as it could represent water. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Jay had the power of wind in a season 2 episode. Quote
DraikNova Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I built Enter the Serpent last Friday. It's really an awesome set. Everything about it is just so good. You really can't see the appeal of most of it until the moment it's done, but then it's absolutely and utterly perfect. If you have to get only one set from the winter wave, get Enter the Serpent. Speaking of which, I've been sorting through my old parts for tan to upgrade the temple a bit, and I've realized that I don't have any ideas for a theme or building style to use in the upgraded version. Any ideas? I thought a bat motif might work, but it seems a little difficult to implement. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I liked the set too, but i agree it needs a bit more. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I agree, Enter the Serpent is a nice set. I was pleased especially with how they managed to integrate the shooters so that they fired when the snake skulls are pushed down, yet blend into the aesthetics reasonably well (none of that awkward stick-out bars stuff that mars plenty of other sets that also use the small spring shooter). I only got the set for Chen and Kapau'rai, but I ended up liking the set a lot and even gets one of the prime display locations in my room. And for once, the UK RRP of the set (£40) stacks up really well against the US RRP ($60) My only real bugbear is that it is smaller than the relatively high piece count would suggest, but then again plenty of sets suffer from that anyway. I still keep thinking "how on earth has this used more than 500 bricks..." Quote
DraikNova Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I liked the set too, but i agree it needs a bit more. It doesn't need it. I just want the challenge of improving it. Quote

But you have to keep in mind the amount of detail that went into the rest of the minifigure, compared to the original 2011 Trainee variants (a few sashes, no back printing *cough* unlike the ones in the TV Show *cough* and lots of time to focus on the emblem. That's not an excuse. The TV show versions of the 2011 suits had horrendous errors in them. Compare Jay's, Kai's and Zane's to Cole's. You'll see a huge difference. Quote
DraikNova Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 They don't seem much simpler to me. And anyway, making something simpler and more stylized can often look better when it comes to symbols. I like them more than their kimono versions, at any rate. Quote

I like them more than their kimono versions, at any rate. They're very blurry, not simplified or stylized. The originals gave a sense of elegance to what was otherwise pretty ragtag-ish, and the new versions don't seem like stylized versions of the originals, in comparison to, say, a picture of a lion and the Lion tribe logo from Chima.
