BluePulse Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 so it seems that the airjitzu is somehow related to shurikens since every pack has them and the main weapons everyones' fighting over are very bulky versions of shurikens. i'm interested in how that will work if that is the case. Quote
Boogly22238 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 The bulky shurikens being "Aeroblades", it looks like. Quote
PenPlays Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Anyway, a random sounding question: does anybody have even the faintest idea what R.E.X. in Ronin R.E.X. stands for? I have a feeling that it's got to stand for something more than just being a cool sounding name. Fun fact for you: The Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin game's text says the name phonetically. Ronin says "Reks" as opposed to "R.E.X." when he summons the Ronin R.E.X. vehicle. I have a feeling that a proper name has yet to be decided, if there ever was one. Quote

The UK is getting them first, again. They aren't due until August in the US. The TV show date makes sense though, but that's for a different thread. Edited May 12, 2015 by Penkid11 Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) I see I was right saying the summer Ninjago sets were out 1st June in the UK. Somehow I knew that would be the case all along, but nice to get some concrete information rather than it being purely based on logic, speculation and incorrect dates displayed at London Toy Fair. Now to decide whether I'm getting Morro Dragon or Destiny's Bounty first. Bye bye money, it was nice knowing you Edited May 12, 2015 by TheOneVeyronian Quote

DraikNova Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) Ultimate masters of ultimate ultimata? Seriously, though, assuming a $150 pricepoint for the D2C (which is the lowest D2C prices go, as far as I know, and almost definitely the lower bound on this D2C) and a $30 pricepoint for both of the exclusives, the entirety of Ninjago's summer wave (minus airjitzu capsules) will cost $570. Just one wave. That's plain ridiculous. It's more than I've spent on all of Galaxy Squad. What makes it especially painful is that I like the summer wave so much. Ugh. I'm going to have to skip out on the Ronin R.E.X. and probably the Blaster Bike too, and hope that the D2C doesn't use the ghost color scheme skreem. Add to that the fact that I still want two more sets from the winter wave and the fact that I need to order some pieces from Bricklink to complete a MOC, plus my attempts to catch up with constraction and I think it's definite that I'm going to have to find some way to get a little more money. Seriously LEGO, why are you releasing all this good stuff in one year? At least you decided to keep BIONICLE from impacting my budget too much. Edited May 13, 2015 by DraikNova Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Oh my, I completely forgot about the D2C. If that turns out to be a beautifully detailed temple with some interesting figures (it's got to have unique non-human (or human undead or spiritual) villains for me to be fully interested) and loads of recolours, then it's R.I.P. money for me By the way, DraikNova, some D2C's (Mini Cooper for instance) are under $100. But given Destiny's Bounty is more expensive than the cheapest D2C, having the D2C at $100 would be nonsensical, so I agree that the lower bound would be $150. I would bet that it's closer to $200 though, it will probably be significantly more expensive than the typical non-licensed flagship retail set (like in Star Wars, Superheroes and so on) Quote
DraikNova Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) Yeah. The upper bound is probably $300, at which point I demand at least one large dragon. Here's hoping that the price of the D2C translates more logically from dollars to euros than normally. EDIT: Oh god, I've just looked at other D2Cs, and my god are they large. Nevermind the price, I won't have the space in my room for all of these sets. Edited May 13, 2015 by DraikNova Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Yeah. The upper bound is probably $300, at which point I demand at least one large dragon I certainly hope it's not $300! Using existing $300 D2C sets as a base, that would translate to £220-£250, just out of my price range (I've never spent more than £180 on a single set... though I did spend £400 on an MOC once)... but if it's got a large dragon in it, I'll have to get it no matter how much it is. Must maintain my collecton of official LEGO dragons somehow However, I don't see it being more than $200 - Ninjago is primarily a more kid-oriented line than lines that normally get D2C's, and I have a hard time imagining kids pestering parents to buy them the D2C set (and getting their own way) if the price was on par with the most expensive adult-oriented UCS sets LEGO does... Ondra Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Sea cow is exception, because they predicted huge success of movie.Im thinking about 200€ temple and about 2200 pieces.Temple at 300€ will be extremely big. If that temple will be great looking in ghost colour scheme I will buy it for sure. Quote

I'm certain that the Sea Cow will be the most expensive set I own for many years to come, simply because anything above that price point is just not worth it... Well until I get sufficient funds, but when is that going to happen? Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 *cough*SeaCow*cough* I forgot about the Sea Cow (though pretty sure that was a $250 set, I was talking about $300+ ones), but that's probably because I don't pay a lot of attention to LEGO Movie related stuff. But valid point, that's probably the most comparable D2C to the Ninjago temple. I still think $200 is more likely, we can get a nice 2,000-2,500 piece temple with a generous supply of minifigs for that price point. Any higher price point and it'll either be overpriced or too big. Unless it has a large dragon(s) in it Quote
horizon Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Lego releasing a D2C for Ninjago aimed at an adults purse would be quite weird in my opinion. It is still a kids theme and as such I think they will create a larger set. So it'll be under 200, even 150 dollars/euros. Quote

Keep in mind that despite being a part of the Ninjago theme, the new Temple may well be a more traditional architectural build than most other, zanier Ninjago sets. I think the best set to compare to would be the Monster Fighters Haunted House—despite featuring the Monster Fighters characters and being branded like the other sets from that theme, it was very different from the more zany and action-packed sets from that theme, lacking the human faction and their steampunk-esque vehicles, as well as opting for generic decay and disarray over traps and action features like in other Monster Fighters sets.
