This is great news that we will at least get a train of some sorts this year that will probably come out in late summer just like the 3677 Red Cargo Train.

Knowing it is a "Heavy Haul Train" I assume it will be a diesel locomotive of sorts. I assume some sort of heavy cargo to go along with it maybe a hopper car and maybe a flat car or two with maybe cars or containers...

I would like to see even though it is a "Heavy Haul Train" I hope that we get a shunter as it is possible for people to make as many people have done it before though unlikely I would love to see it.

Great new! Thanks for sharing Cyrtanthus!

Hope to see more soon

So "Metro MDP" has now become "Heavy-Haul Train" for this set number. Hmm, interesting...

The former source was apparently a Czech shop, where does the new name come from?

The former source was from... well, yours truly. Not the Czech shop.

The new source is the 2H 2015 release manifest from LEGO.

hmmm, interesting. Another train like the 3677 red cargo train release.

The current CITY line-up doesn't interest me that much but this could have potential. Also it doesn't mean we won't get an other creator expert train. In 2011 we got bothe the Maersk and the 3677. Although I wouldn't mind waiting another year for it (or must I say my wallet wouldn't mind)

Am I the only one who thinks that the 'Heavy Haul Train' could very well be a road train?

I think it's fairly unlikely that Lego would be that ambiguous with its titling. I know some people have been a bit pessimistic about a new train coming out but I'm fairly confident that when Lego say a train they're pretty likely to mean something running on rails.

I would love to see a shunter too. Anything that fits PF into as small a space as possible would be terrific.

If the price is the same as the blue cargo train, that would be a very expensive truck.

I must admit I'm surprised at this, although it does follow the same pattern as the Red cargo train release.

What I envision is starting with the blue cargo train set 60052, bring in (mostly) common parts and expand it into several creations that would appeal to AFOL's around the world. That means N. American designs, Euro designs, etc. Then produce instructions so that new and experienced train builders can purchase the set and quickly MOD it into a train that is even more appealing to the given buyer. Using 60052 to get the train parts and common parts for the rest means that new builders will not have to scrounge around for too many new parts. Probably the best way to do so is to have another competition, similar to the recent RailBricks competition; but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

This sounds like a fabulous idea, and I would be intereste din seeing it happen regardless of Lego's set plans!

3677 was not "junior-ized" :sadnew:

It was s standard City train of that era and actually more detalied than either 7939 (that horrible 4 Junior's windscreen, argh!), the 7938 (pretty much NO detailing at all) or the two 2006 IR/RC trains preceeding them

Creator trains are different

Hopefully they don't overly "junior-ize" it like they did with 3677.

Eh? What's Junior about it? It was a City train. Juniors doesn't have trains afaik.

Probably just wishful thinking but maybe this "heavy haul train" will be tied into the space exploration sub theme. Similar to NASA's space train: http://en.m.wikipedi...i/NASA_Railroad

The Russian space agency has also used trains to transport large space vehicles. Might be an interesting tie in.

That's actually a leaked conficential photo there, buddy ..

Yup, it's that PF replacement system, rocketpowered ftw!

Nice idea. That would also explain the fast follow-up after the 60052. Interesting thought...

That'd be pretty awesome. Skip the roadside structures to free up budget, add a lot more track, (maybe release a bundle with all track and trackside structure sets with the train internationally) and make a long distance passenger train. Kind of like a EMD7 locomotive, but with a lot more passenger cars.

Kinda like those super packs 4 in 1?

That's what I'm talking about. The problem is, they're released exclusively to certain parts of Europe like New Zealand and Greenland. They need to be released internationally, exclusively through Lego Stores and Shop@Home.

Oh, so that's why they're so expensive on Ebay.

That is the funniest thing I have read all day!

Yeah, but hobbits and vikings do look alike

Regarding 'superpacks', they seem to be more expensive than buying individual sets at least here in NZ DK. I reckon the sturdier box (are there actually individual boxes inside?) is also heavier than than the thinner individuals, leading to higher shipping cost from places like BL

That is funny, I remember buying this superpack for perhaps €10 more than the individual train.

The train itself was just inside the big box with the other sets is their own smaller boxes.

I'm in Denmark, there are heavy taxes even on the air I breathe :sceptic:

I haven't been able to find retail prices on the train superpacks, but I really doubt it's 10EUR above the actual train in retail

Thanx for the info on the boxes
