As a kid of the 80's I had a decent 12V collection. I don't think I ever MOC'ed a train without doors, they we're essential. Of course all my trains when either yellow(/red), black or red/blue :classic:

I remember lusting for the oh so sleek and futuristic 7745. I seriously doubt that modern nosejob could have invoked the same feeling

I have been informed that the next Creator train will arrive in Q3 of this year. Little other information is known, but it's a reliable source at least.

Substantiate with further info? Steam, diesel, rubber band power?

Any reason that it is Q3? Less sales clash with the city trains?

So that new creator trin is different from the new city train?

I'd love to see LEGO make an other city train, in a certain way the launch of 3677 was a prove from LEGO they do take the train line-up seriously. Agreed, like every (or most) AFOL, some extra rolling stock like they did with the untill 9V (with my own train, santa fe and ttx being the last) would be more fun, but at least they do something rather than just keeping a 2 train line-up. I just hope they make the successor (if there will be one) of 3677 equally good.

As far as a new creator train, I sure hope there's one on it's way and I hope it will be something European (German steam or a nice shunter with some goods rolling stock), but I think it will be somethin Amercan. But, let's be honest, we'll all be thrilled if they release a train, which ever country it comes from.

Haha, unfortunately not! Just the timing of it. My guess is that the company have chosen to release the Creator train later in the year simply to maximise sales of the new City trains. As this is their first major 'holiday', families will continue to purchase the City trains with their children's Christmas money.

Who's first holiday? Is that meant to be a hint?

You tease! :classic:

I am cautiously optimistic that we will get:

1) A third ''City Train,'' a lá the 3677. The 3677 was a limited retailer exclusive, wasn't it? If I recall, the first sign it was coming to market was it was shown inadvertently (intentionally?) at a LEGO designer expo, wasn't it? At any rate, it was a pleasant surprise. Maybe something price-wise between the current trains ($159-$169 USD?)

2) As well, a ''Creator Expert'' branded train - no tracks, no PFs included (as per the standard thus far). I suspect whatever we get will fit a similar mold to the previous Creator Train releases, in that you will need at least (2) to make it look really good. Probably $119 - $129?

This is all uninformed speculation, but here's hoping regardless.

Well, looks like the HE is gone. Get them while you still can. Here's the email I got from Lego today:

Thanks for getting in touch with us! We have discontinued the Horizon Express 10233 as of the end of last year, however, I was able to locate only a few left in our inventory. I have taken the liberty of placing the order for you, all you have to do is call with payment info for it to get shipped! Order number xxxxx

I was able to get two more (now I will have three total)! So relieved.

I think nesquik simply meant that this was the first Christmas holiday for the new CITY trains, and LEGO wanted to avoid cannibalizing sales of them with a new Creator train offering during the post-holiday gift season.

Any idea how many were left when you placed your order?

Original email said a "few", I was only in search of 2 so didn't push them too much. I would call them first thing tomorrow or at least send customer support an email right now.

Hold on, that 3677 rumour just grew out of nowhere folks. Step back and calm down. A new LEGO train will come soon enough

Hi guys'n'girls.

I read this discussion since a few weeks. Today I used google a time and I used the phrase "heavy haul train" and I found some large us-train engines (diesel power) and some chinese and russian double-train engines. It's only an idea, but it is possible, that TLC will give us a train like the 2M62 or an latvian ore train? one big train engine and two small ore wagons? like this: dm 3 1211 2M62 or an claas 66

if it's the "dm 3 1211" so they can use the big train wheels, but it isn't a steam train. this is what I understand under a "heavy haul train".

my father has a collection of model trains from a german train magazin. They are one engine and two wagons. like the lego train expert serie. Emerald night, maersk and HE aren't complete trains, while the first part of a train.

I'm curious what LEGO show us sometime.

Thank you very much for the tip. I didn't see this until this afternoon and called late afternoon (MST, Alberta) and was able to order two. I too didn't inquire about more beyond that. I just asked if I could order two and the lady said sure.

Awesome! Great to hear that it worked out. I could have ordered several with the intent to sell them in the future, but decided not to spoil my good luck!!!

Heavy Haul train hasn't been announced at the London Toy Fair (Yet)..Is there still hope?

I'm more concerned about the release of a new Creator Expert train. (especially since the HE had a shorter than normal run?) IMO, the current cargo and passenger tain starter sets don't need a third set to complement them. My personal theory is that the 3677 red cargo train was released specifically to target North America, since the yellow cargo train was unidentifiable as a cargo train to that market.
