v6TransAM Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 So I ran the photos past my five year old: - "want want want want" - "engine is red + grey. If it was just red it would be boring. The grey makes it really interesting, along with the roof, which is interesting round shapes like play-doh." - "digger is good" - "coal wagon is good" I asked him how many helicopters we had (at least 5 small ones so far, maybe more), and if we had enough: - "we have quite a few, but this one is white, which is kind of interesting, we should get it" Was really hoping he'd slate the chopper, I've seen quite enough of them. Couldn't get a comment out of him on the crane. Target market much? No I demand they make these sets for the adults who purchase them
Man with a hat Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 hmm, I don't know what to think about it yet. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I don't immediately say WOW. And somehow those handrails seem out of place for this type of locomotive.
dr_spock Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 No I demand they make these sets for the adults who purchase them Supporting adults don't seem to be mentioned in LEGO's responsibility statement: http://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/responsibility
Aaron Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 When I was a toddler, I would have preferred an adult targeted train set over anything. Kids have a lot more potential and higher attention spans than most give them credit for.

Sven F Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Absolutely, I always found toys in general were always lacking in something that the creators probably thought wasn't going to be important or noticed by kids. Like LEGO in the late 90's with painted on headlights? you must be kidding! only if my eyes are painted on too. But... then again who buys all that barbie and hot wheels crap if there are no dumb kids around.
davidmull Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 When will 60098 be released? I know technic sets are normally aug but are trains earlier?
paul_delahaye Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 When will 60098 be released? I know technic sets are normally aug but are trains earlier? There will always be someone on ebay who turns up with the train earlier than anyone else, they are usually from a country where LEGO has a factory, not sure if this is a conincidence or not….. :-) But I reckon your not far of with your speculation, or Mid July / Early August for the train with Technic following on in August. I always base it around the release of the Argos catalogue in the UK, when that comes out, the LEGO is usually available to. This would be around 3 week of July from memory
ecmo47 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Bummer....all those great new sets displayed at the New York Toy Fair and not a peep about a new Expert train.
3797 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 That new loco would be alot better, if it had real train doors. Why cripple the play value, when it's aimed at kids? Makes me appreciate the 60052 even more.
davidmull Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Just picked up 7939 mint condition for €65 happy out :)
phoenix42 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Just picked up 7939 mint condition for €65 happy out :) Seriously jealous!

davidmull Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Mmm just bring reading back throughout the tread and there was fairly certainty about a new creator train this year. Are creator trains normally announced this time of year or is it still possible we might get one?
peterab Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Mmm just bring reading back throughout the tread and there was fairly certainty about a new creator train this year. Are creator trains normally announced this time of year or is it still possible we might get one? I don't think there was certainty, but there were high expectations. The EN and Maersk trains were released in March if I recall correctly and the HE was released in Dec/Jan. Going by that a March release would not be surprising, however we might have expected to have a rumour or sighting by now too. The only rumour we have is from nesquick who was told there would be a Q3 release. At this stage I would say it is still possible we will get a new Creator train this year, but when is very unpredictable. Others have argued I'm being too optimistic. Since Creator trains are a much newer product than technic sets, and trains are a niche interest which seem to wax and wane a bit in sales, it is not really realistic to expect predictable releases from any train product other than the main city train releases. It would make sense to me to try and avoid releasing Creator trains at the same time as city trains and force people to choose which one they will buy rather than wait a year with the Creator train and hopefully more people will buy both. The other factor in this is TLG has been far better at containing leaks, particularly for LEGO store exclusives, so we might be less likely to find out about any Creator train before the official release anyway. All we can do is be patient, and we will only find out here when someone has some definite knowledge.
jamesed_1971 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I would rather that Lego brought out a new Steam Train passenger set with the 2x3 and 3x4 Train windows as there would be a cheaper supply as currently the whites one are expensive and as for the tan train windows even more expensive.
Xan326 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I know this probably wouldn't happen, but, I'd like to see smaller sets. With all the sets being expensive, its hard to get into the train theme. It'd be nice if they made Trains into it's whole subtheme of city, then we could possibly get sets that are cars/engines. I'd also like to see smaller power functions components, it'd make building smaller engines and shunters a lot easier.
davidmull Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 It's not looking good for a creater train but maybe it might still happen? When was the first news released on The HE?
Duq Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 HE was unveiled at a fan event in September 2012, before its release in January 2013. Let's face it: it's not gonna happen this year.

davidmull Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Looking at the 60098 does anyone think it looks a bit short as in the whole train. Are the two long carriages normally longer?
davidmull Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Normal lenght :) The train has 2 short carriages and only 1 long. This is a first. Normally u get 2 long and 1 short.
AlmightyArjen Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 ^^Maybe because there's a quite large crane in the set?
*thomas* Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 The train has 2 short carriages and only 1 long. This is a first. Normally u get 2 long and 1 short. David, LEGO has had numerous variations on train lenght in the past, in the '80s and early '90s all of the goods trains had short carriages and you could buy a separete set in the train line-up which often included a long carriage. Even 7898 (the first, and last) RC cargo train, had a 2 short - 1 long setup. The 2 long - 1 short setup was first seen on the 7939 and 60052 PF cargo trains, whereas 3677 (red cargo train) had a 2 short - 1 long setup... It's nice to see LEGO use some variation on this, it would be quite boring if they'd always use the same train car lenght and train configuration. Still, the new cargo train - to me - is a waste of money if they price it above 100€ (which they will), not because of train lenght, but because of poor and inspirationless design.
