There's 2 short flat beds what's interesting about that?

Have to agree on this one... The hopper is ok, but the 2 flatbeds are dull. They just took an excavator and helicopter and put them on an train base plate.

I have to agree with you there, the hopper design is sort of okay but I don't like the side discharge flap it just doesn't look right, if they had changed the flap to reddish brown like the rest of the hopper it may have looked a bit better. Overall the hopper is a much better design than the one that was in 3677, but to be quite frank the best hopper designs of recent years were the ones in 4512 and 7898, both were rather simplistic but looked convincing especially with their liveries, they also have a fairly decent load capacity.

Still, the new cargo train - to me - is a waste of money if they price it above 100€ (which they will), not because of train lenght, but because of poor and inspirationless design.

How does poor design make it a waste of money? A poorly designed set can still be a good parts pack...

That's what I meant, I don't see this as a good parts pack. That's just an impression, I'll see what the part list will look like...

Well, an excavator is very handy, but the helicopter ? :look: .......(meh.... )

If there's one thing that I learned in the 1980's it's that every single set needs a helicopter. EVERY set!

Airport, you need one plane and one helicopter. Police stations always have a ratio of one police car/van: one helicopter: two motorcycles. Fire station . .. that definitely needs a helicopter. Cargo centre?? If there's one thing that is integral to a cargo center or DHL delivery center it's a Helicopter. The news team seemed to only get a van & no helicopter

Trains have always been deprived of helicopters or needlessly transporting helicopters.

That seems correct. Back in the 1980s I built a helicopter for my fire station which didn't come with one and it didn't feel complete without one. I used bricks from the 555 Basic Set.

What child wouldn't want to prototype a Mi-8 helicopter on a flat car?

I remember having a news crew set with a van and a helicopter, but it was from the late 90's

I had a box where i stuffed all the useless stuff i got in sets, and that's where my helicopters, boats and planes were kept along with duplo.

Is there some kind of usual limit of exclusive sets released every year? What are the hopes for the creator expert train in 2015? It's getting late with no news and HE off the shelves already...

Seems not many care about 2015 trains on here :( I'd like to know the same.

There is a limited number of exclusives, but it has been growing over time, so it is hard to know exactly what it is for this year. Also over the last couple of years LEGO has gotten a lot better at plugging the leaks so we are now getting far less advance warning of exclusive sets. Therefore predicting a creator expert train is anybodies guess. All we have is a single rumour of a third quarter release with no further details. It could happen, it may not.

We'd all like to know, but there is little point in talking about it till we have something to talk about. There is no lack of care, there is a lack of concrete information.

There have, as you will see I'm sure, been many many pages of speculation here from people who care a great deal about a 2015 train. I think we've all reached a point where we realise that every possible hypothetical eventuality has been explored and there's really nothing else to say until someone officially announces something, which now looks v unlikely for this year.

I dont want to that bad guy, but I dont think that there will exclusive train set for this year. There are no solid rumours, we probably know every exclusive set up to date and also exclusive train set were released january or march. So I think if there is another creator train it will be early next year.

And I have something for train fans around the world, in czech city Kladno there will huge lego display with Prague main train station as main model. It will be 15 square metres and 2 metres high. http://space-in.cz/c...ikatni-vystavu/

Whatever it may be, I hope we break the "single engine with one car forcing us to BL more cars for extorted prices" mold. Hopefully Lego realizes the downsides of this, and lets us buy engines and cars separately, like the Santa Fe and El Capitan cars or the Burlington Northern and the Intermodal cars. Those two releases were very near Legos all time low in marketing and sales, and hopefully they've decided by now with the demand for extra cars, that they'll finally stop being gun shy about selling extra cars. All I've wanted is to have a complete set of Santa Fe cars and a locomotive, but the prices are ridiculous. They either need to start doing this again, or at least have the courtesy to pack more than one car with the locomotive. The Maersk and Horizon Express were better with this than the Emerald Night, but they need to put more. I would gladly pay $200 or $250 for a Creator Expert train with 5 or 6 cars, and I'm hoping they realize that that's what most of us want. On another note, I'd love if they released longer train baseplates, maybe a 38 or a 44 length one.

I had a thought, years ago Lego used to sell box set of bricks, plates, slopes, windows and other parts in different colors, Lego could introduce a range of parts sets which could include Train Windows (2x3 and 3x4) and the train glass inserts, the train wheels, train buffer with magnets and curved slopes, the train windows and train glass inserts could be sold in batches of 8 or 16, and have colors like green, white, tan, red, and black plus other colors like dark red (could be used to make a maroon colored coach.

If Lego was to do this, it would allow a AFOL to build his or her own custom train coaches and hopefully at a lower price, it would be a welcomed move by me as I have just built my first LBSCR 48ft Bogie Coach which was quite expansive due to the train windows and train glass inserts and the other parts like the train wheels and bogie plates and would allow me to build some more.

They used to sell something similar. It was a supplemental set that came with a 6x28 train car baseplate, 4 train wheel sets, two 2x6 plates, 2 2x4 plates, two train bogey plates, and two buffers with magnets. Too bad it likely won't happen soon.

Aren't some of these parts individually orderable through LEGO Bricks and Pieces? Draw back is not all regions offer Bricks and Pieces. Service Packs were easier...

Problem is those are not being produced currently. Last time we had dark purple 4x3 in 2011, some other in 2009 and 2010. The narrow ones we only have black and some time ago grey and tan. We could use some nice reintroduction ;) especially in grey, dbg and dark green...

You guys know about Bricklink right?

Bricklink is a bit of a pain for inexperienced users and in the case of ordering rare train pieces like the bases for Maesrk or HorIzon Express trains its can be very expensive. I think people here just want a cheap and easy way to order directly through Lego.
