PastVPresent Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Yeah I took a pic, here it is: Sorry about linking/quality - trying to do this all from my phone
scottwb2010 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Thanks for posting a photo PastVPresent. Lucky that its available in the shop so early. The track is a similar oval to set 3677 but has x12 straight tracks instead of x8 so thats a plus and seems to be about same price mark as 3677 as price shown of 1499dk works out at £143.66 so with legoland prices being slightly dearer it is very similar price to 3677. And hope your enjoying the tour.
davidmull Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Thanks for picture. So does that mean it's available soon? Nice little crane. And 12 straights is a bonus.
vclarke Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 60052 is DKK1699 so 60098 is a bit cheaper than that. Thanks for pic. PastVPresent - did you buy it?
davidmull Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I'm not confident in believing they actually have the Heavy Haul Train in stock. We haven't gotten any box pictures of the set or new information for a long time. Did you take pictures? Did u not hear what the man said?
ProducePrincess Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Did u not hear what the man said? If a claim doesn't come with proof or from a well known source I'm going to doubt it. But now after some delay he has given us pictures and life is wonderful.
Lego Dino 500 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) I'm a tiny bit confused. The freight train is occupying the usual $150 bracket instead of the passenger train. Does that mean we're keeping the 60052, this is a "collector" train and we're getting a passenger train AND a $200 freight train, or are we getting a $200 passenger train this time? Whatever it is, it's nice to see a change in pace and variety. Edited May 20, 2015 by Lego Dino 500

phoenix42 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 And 12 straights is a bonus. We lost the two junctions we have in 60052, but we also gained a lower price ~$150 Vs $200
talos Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Argh, another helicopter for my collection of helicopters... :-P
jonwil Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 IMO 60052 is a MUCH better cargo train than this one. The blue locomotive is better than this red one and the yellow one from a few years back and the cargo cars you get in this one are nowhere as nice as those in the 60052 (excavator, helicopter and an ugly brown hopper car full of grey bricks vs cattle car, car with cable drums and a flat bed with various loads)

In Europe the yellow and red are what we have. So we prefer these.
jonwil Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 We have that style in Australia too. I just think that the parts selection in the 60052 is far better than the one in the yellow or red trains (going by the pictures of the red train that is)
dr_spock Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 The lower price bracket could mean someone who can't afford the $200 freight train might be able to get a freight train instead of a high speed passenger train for $150. Maybe a bit easier for fixed income grandparents to get for grandkids.
talos Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I got my 60052 from Amazon, for $156, so was a good deal. I want this new train, since I don't have any European styles yet. I will probably redo the cars into other things though...nice to add to my parts collection.
davidmull Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I'll also buy this set but won't be building the chopper or the digger.
Yeow Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Seems like a good enough set to pick up when it goes on sale, but I can't really justify it at $150 USD. The two flatbeds are kind of boring compared to 60052's and that helicopter looks atrocious.
legobear Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I completely pass on this train as I already have the yellow train. I don't think it's a turn off because it's European - I think it's a novelty. I think what turns people off is that it's the same exact train - literally copy and paste - from 3677. The digger is duplo-ish, but the helicopter is just ok. I like the hopper. The only thing I want from that set is the train tracks.
jonwil Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I don't have anything against the shape of the red cargo train, I just happen to believe that as a parts pack the 60052 is a better set (especially at the super-discount clearance price I paid for it :)

I think i just prefer the euro look. I think the tanker car is my fav wagon.
dr_spock Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I wouldn't buy the red cargo for myself either. It could make a nice first train set for my nephew for his next birthday. It has everything to get started in the box (except AAA batteries). I don't have anything against the shape of the red cargo train, I just happen to believe that as a parts pack the 60052 is a better set (especially at the super-discount clearance price I paid for it :) My 60052 set has turned into an expensive parts pack. The only things left intact are the gantry crane and fork lift. MOCing is a terrible disease that can eat away at your sets.
andythenorth Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 MOCing is a terrible disease that can eat away at your sets. Also has a similar outcome: children who like to 'train down the stairs'.
Steinkopf Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 MOCing is a terrible disease that can eat away at your sets. It can eat away at your wallet as well from making a heap of Bricklink orders so you can amass a fleet of MOC's, trust me I know all to well.
