zephyr1934 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Lego has released official images and it is now on brickset. So it will likely be available at S@H very soon.
THERIZE Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Lego has released official images and it is now on brickset. So it will likely be available at S@H very soon. I also saw, it on the website of a big dutch lego site. 180 euros. I can't wait for the release. I could buy one in discount.
nesquik Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 If I was still a kid, then I'd definitely stick with the Cargo Train for the money. It just seems to have greater play value and is much brighter.
paul_delahaye Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 So how are you supposed to get the Backhoe off of the flatbed? There is no ramp…..the grabber crane it is? Or the little Lego operator is very skilled machine operator ;-)

lostdriveway Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 $250 for the Heavy Haul Train in Oz - better then the usual $300 which is good considering the lack of detail on the flat cars!

THERIZE Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 First video mini review up on YouTube. and what I wanna ask, would this be a good starter set for a power functions newbie?
Redimus Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It's appeared (along with the new town center set) in the UK version of the Lego Shop website (again £139.99).
davidmull Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Yep all summers sets just appeared on Lego shop. Train is €159. and what I wanna ask, would this be a good starter set for a power functions newbie? Yes it would be a great starter set.
talos Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It hasn't appeared on the USA site yet... :-/ only the City Square has, so far....
dr_spock Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It hasn't appeared on the USA site yet... :-/ only the City Square has, so far.... Same on Canada site. City Square is the same price as the blue cargo train set.
Redimus Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Yeah, that's another set I was interested in until I saw the price...
zephyr1934 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised if lego is holding back on this set in N America until later in the year both to equalize production/demand and so that TRU can have an exclusive train (as they did with the last red freight train).
davidmull Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I emailed smyths Ireland and they have no record of when this set is available if at all. They normally can give u a rough date. Very unusual. I'll have to buy off Lego shop. I still don't get why this set is very badly advertised in general.
talos Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I see its out of stock already on the Euro S@H sites... I think its right, they are holding it back on the NA sites, probably figure 'they don't like that kind of train' LOL oh right..
dr_spock Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Perhaps they don't have the production capacity to supply both markets. Trains may not be a "hotshot" in their production scheduling process.

Ed3n Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm a new fan of Lego trains, just bought my first Lego train set (60052 - cargo train) and loving every bits of it. I'm annoyed that I haven't gotten into Lego trains earlier. Would love to have the emerald and maerks train in my collection. I've just bought the Lego station (60050), looking to source extra tracks, picking up horizon express this Saturday for $200AU and have ordered additional power function/motor/lights from the Lego shop for the HE. I think I'm addicted! I hope Lego continue to release more trains in the future, especially creator trains. I'm not so impressed with the heavy haul train but might end up buying it anyway for my collection and to support Lego trains.

peterab Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 U guys say this a lot! Are train that bad of a seller for Lego and why? I don't think they are terrible (or LEGO would not continue with them) but they are no-where near the biggest selling sets. Partially because most kids don't find trains exciting (a LEGO designer at a con told me this in discussion, based on TLG's own market research) and partially because the only way they've found to sell them effectively is as complete sets so they are expensive and therefore don't compete in sales with $30 vehicle sets.
