Princess Amy Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Is anyone else disappointed by the helicopter though? I love the set, the crane, the engine especially, but the helicopter just breaks the realism for me. Maybe I'm too old. I'd prefer they went back to containers, as those are fab and the introduction of new ones would add a load of variety to the existing stock. The hopper car is great but I'd want dozens of the to replicate a proper freight loco. Love the red engine though. The bootleggers have picked that one up too and for good reason. It's a great design. I'd like to have a set of red passenger cars pulled by it instead of having it as a DMU type thing.
*thomas* Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 IMHO this train should've just been the loco, the crane and 3 or 4 hoppers and the digger.
radar92 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 To weigh in on it. I'm not impressed with the helicopter, but I figure that's more geared for the kids. Maybe if was more in line with the Coast Guard helicopters I'd like it. I absolutely love the hopper car. The engine isn't bad and I like the flat with the back hoe. I'm not sure if I'll get. Using Brick and Pieces and what I have on hand I can make the hopper. I do wish they would sell cars separately. Part of weather I'll buy it will be the price.
dr_spock Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 The helicopter appears to be model after one those small single seater copters.
andythenorth Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Love the red engine though. The bootleggers have picked that one up too and for good reason. It's a great design. I'd like to have a set of red passenger cars pulled by it... Untitled by Andy
zephyr1934 Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Put a couple of panels on the helicopter flat car, disassemble the helicopter, and viola, you have a train hauling helicopter scrap.
davidmull Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Put a couple of panels on the helicopter flat car, disassemble the helicopter, and viola, you have a train hauling helicopter scrap. I won't even build the heli or the digger. They both make this set duplo ish
THERIZE Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Put a couple of panels on the helicopter flat car, disassemble the helicopter, and viola, you have a train hauling helicopter scrap. and have the Backhoe and crane to move the scrap! Then you have a scrapyard lego set...
dr_spock Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 and have the Backhoe and crane to move the scrap! Then you have a scrapyard lego set... That's a good idea. I've seen documentary where scrapped steel was transported to a reprocessing plant in open gondolas.
marook Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Hmm, Heavy-Haul Train is already sold out.. at least on the Danish store. Did they actually sell soem sets, or just ship them to stores?
Rail Co Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 The helicopter reminds me though of the older town sets with it's small design, so I may keep mine together whenever it is available in America. But I love the Idea of a "Heavy-Haul Scrap Train" Thanks -RailCo
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) Thank you all very much for the pictures, links and information! Although we've got now many official pics and even some reviews, I'm still unsure what to think about this set: Con: - nearly no accessory - entrances in the engine are to small - digger needs a smaller shovel in the back - missing tailboards sideways on the two coaches (for the heli and for the excavator) Pro: - nice heli - nice red engine - great excavator - hopper waggon looks good - crane is with its tracks awesome To put it in a nutshell: There are many parts of the set which do look professional, but at the same time there are others which really look <insert that tiresome argument>. Because of this I personally would have prefered to pay 20 Euros more but therefore get more accessory and details! So it's even hard to decide whether this set is the money worth to buy it or whether I should keep my money better for something else. Untitled by Andy That's a great double-decker coach, andythenorth! Oh man - how amazing would it be if TLG released a double-decker coach! But I fear that this will never take place! davidmull Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) Picked up 60098 today €159. Half way through the build with the 3 carriages done. I really like hopper it's really nice and is quiet heavy. I'll make a few more I think. Other two are quiet plain and I'm not at all a fan of the heli or digger. Engine still left to build. jrathfon Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) That's a good idea. I've seen documentary where scrapped steel was transported to a reprocessing plant in open gondolas. What you just described is downtown Nashville by Titan's stadium. We have a scrap metal yard and all day they use front-end loaders and magnet cranes to move scrap metal into open half-height gondolas. Not sure where they go after that, but those gondolas are BANGED UP! Here Edited June 17, 2015 by jrathfon
Rail Co Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I do really like the idea of a scrapyard train but to change the subject slightly... does anyone know of a release date or if it will be released for the U.S? I ask this because I am not sure whether just to go ahead and order it from the UK or another European country. Thanks -RailCo
Legoboy22 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Woo hoo!!!!!, finally a better city cargo train than that 60052, I was not a fan of that train but the new one has a European locomotive :):):):):) Love jangs reviews he's very good. I agree

The crane and stuff were pretty good but the livestock car and the loco were to bad.
davidmull Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) Loco just finished too. Nice train quiet happy with it. The loco is very nice. Edited June 18, 2015 by davidmull
dr_spock Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Nice, I like the look of the loco. What are you going to replace the helicopter and backhoe with?
lightningtiger Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 The engine looks great, and BigW have this set for 225 bucks AU......dam I need some spare cash.
davidmull Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Nice, I like the look of the loco. What are you going to replace the helicopter and backhoe with? I'll just use them for containers. To be honest the digger is growing on me but a heli on a train looks bad so that's a no no.

Rail Co Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I think a few pages back someone said Novemberish in the states. Thank you I must have missed that, well I guess I'll have to wait at least it will be available in the states Thanks -RailCo
davidmull Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 So I take it the possibility of a creator train is slim at this stage?
Legoboy22 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) Loco just finished too. Nice train quiet happy with it. The loco is very nice. I just love that loco, the detail and the shape are pretty good for a city set. It has the same style as the yellow cargo train which I have. I think I will get this set just for the loco and the hopper. The rest I would modify. Edited June 20, 2015 by Legoboy22
