Is anyone else disappointed by the helicopter though?

I love the set, the crane, the engine especially, but the helicopter just breaks the realism for me. Maybe I'm too old.

I'd prefer they went back to containers, as those are fab and the introduction of new ones would add a load of variety to the existing stock.

The hopper car is great but I'd want dozens of the to replicate a proper freight loco.

Love the red engine though. The bootleggers have picked that one up too and for good reason. It's a great design. I'd like to have a set of red passenger cars pulled by it instead of having it as a DMU type thing.

To weigh in on it. I'm not impressed with the helicopter, but I figure that's more geared for the kids. Maybe if was more in line with the Coast Guard helicopters I'd like it. I absolutely love the hopper car. The engine isn't bad and I like the flat with the back hoe. I'm not sure if I'll get. Using Brick and Pieces and what I have on hand I can make the hopper. I do wish they would sell cars separately. Part of weather I'll buy it will be the price.

Put a couple of panels on the helicopter flat car, disassemble the helicopter, and viola, you have a train hauling helicopter scrap.

I won't even build the heli or the digger. They both make this set duplo ish

That's a good idea. I've seen documentary where scrapped steel was transported to a reprocessing plant in open gondolas.

The helicopter reminds me though of the older town sets with it's small design, so I may keep mine together whenever it is available in America. But I love the Idea of a "Heavy-Haul Scrap Train"

Thank you all very much for the pictures, links and information! :classic:

Although we've got now many official pics and even some reviews, I'm still unsure what to think about this set:

Con:

- nearly no accessory

- entrances in the engine are to small

- digger needs a smaller shovel in the back

- missing tailboards sideways on the two coaches (for the heli and for the excavator)

Pro:

- nice heli

- nice red engine

- great excavator

- hopper waggon looks good

- crane is with its tracks awesome

To put it in a nutshell: There are many parts of the set which do look professional, but at the same time there are others which really look <insert that tiresome argument>. Because of this I personally would have prefered to pay 20 Euros more but therefore get more accessory and details! So it's even hard to decide whether this set is the money worth to buy it or whether I should keep my money better for something else. :sceptic:

That's a great double-decker coach, andythenorth!

Oh man - how amazing would it be if TLG released a double-decker coach! But I fear that this will never take place! :cry_sad:

Picked up 60098 today €159. Half way through the build with the 3 carriages done.

I really like hopper it's really nice and is quiet heavy.

I'll make a few more I think.

Other two are quiet plain and I'm not at all a fan of the heli or digger.

Engine still left to build.

What you just described is downtown Nashville by Titan's stadium. We have a scrap metal yard and all day they use front-end loaders and magnet cranes to move scrap metal into open half-height gondolas. Not sure where they go after that, but those gondolas are BANGED UP!

I do really like the idea of a scrapyard train but to change the subject slightly... does anyone know of a release date or if it will be released for the U.S? I ask this because I am not sure whether just to go ahead and order it from the UK or another European country.

Thanks

yeah! 60052 was a pretty bad set. The crane and stuff were pretty good but the livestock car and the loco were to bad.

Nice, I like the look of the loco. What are you going to replace the helicopter and backhoe with?

I'll just use them for containers. To be honest the digger is growing on me but a heli on a train looks bad so that's a no no.

Nice train quiet happy with it. The loco is very nice.

I just love that loco, the detail and the shape are pretty good for a city set. It has the same style as the yellow cargo train which I have. I think I will get this set just for the loco and the hopper. The rest I would modify. Edited by Legoboy22
