Astar Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 This is so excited, hopefully it is a metro/train related set, that would be new!
andythenorth Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 It's probably a City Police set, most likely a bank robbery (Metro Money Deposit Pursuit).
just2good Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Just received the February store calendar from the Flatiron store. It says "VIPS get early access to a new exclusive LEGO set!", February 17-28. Perhaps this new exclusive is a train. Mind posting pictures of the calendar? Yep! The original leak was via a Czech website. I googled DMP inititals Czech but ended up with "Dullest Man in the Pub" Actually, Metro MDP wasn't on the site. I got it from an inside source, who doesn't have English as their native language, so...
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I wouldn't count to much on the "Metro MDP" being an exclusive train set although I would highly welcome an elevated train or a subway since both - esp. the first one - are since long overdue. Remember that the last exclusive train - the Horizont Express - was firstly a Creator set and secondly not directly part of the City theme (it had a 10xxx number). On the other hand the Red Cargo Train was part of the City theme although it was an Exclusive. So ... only time will tell. I could well imagine that we'll see pictures of the two exclusive sets around March. Klaus-Dieter
Dreamshade Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 The "LEGO City 60098 Metro MDP" is definitely not an exclusive train. The exclusive trains are part of Creator Expert line, not City. And also, most importantly, the set number must be starting with 10247 and above, that belong to the exclusive sets( latest one being 10246, the Detective Agency). Since the HE is retired, I think(and / or hope) that we will get a new train, but it will be probably some time in q1 2015, not in January.
Lego Engineer Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Mind posting pictures of the calendar? Here it is.
just2good Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) Here it is. Much appreciated- and a new Demolition polybag! Now... back on topic. Edited December 25, 2014 by just2good
Ondra Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 MDP can be in czech language this-Mestsky dopravni podnik in english it means city transportation authority.
Paperballpark Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Feb VIP exclusive is apparently the Super Heroes Helicarrier.
Rail Co Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Feb VIP exclusive is apparently the Super Heroes Helicarrier. Hmmm. it is really starting to look grim for a new Expert train set I guess we will find out Jan. 1st when the usually do press releases...
ritzcrackerman Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 There are some postings on other threads as well as other blogs with promotions and early VIP releases. If they're accurate - I'm not seeing a peep alluding to a new Creator Expert Train for 2015. Yes, it is indeed looking grim. Hope springs eternal...
lostdriveway Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 It'll be a steam loco, trust me ;) From a source or a guess?
lightningtiger Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 It'll be a steam loco, trust me ;) Well, it would be a Creator Expert set, not a City one ?
nesquik Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 The lack of information can only be a positive thing. Taking into account just how many exclusives are released throughout a year, the majority are well hidden right up to release. Trains will always differ from other sub-themes as there is less hype surrounding them than a licensed product (S.W, S.H, Simpsons, etc). And as we've seen in the past, the company itself won't bask in such a release unless the demand is there, so store calendars shouldn't be used a guide for release dates. There are plenty of opportunities yet :o)
Ondra Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 It'll be a steam loco, trust me ;) That leaked list doesnt have any trains and in februar, march there is biggest set for 2015 so releasing two exclusive sets doesnt have sense.Maybe there is train for january 2016 with release for VIP in 2015 .
legonerd54321 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Maybe a American diesel like the LEGO City Cargo train that came out this year, but with a lot more detail. Or maybe even an American steam engine.
legonerd54321 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Why not the Freedom Train or it's sister, Southern Pacific 4449?
pirzyk Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Why not the Freedom Train or it's sister, Southern Pacific 4449? I seriously doubt that LEGO would do the Freedom Train. It *might* do a Daylight. The 4449 *was* the Freedom train.
dr_spock Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I seriously doubt that LEGO would do the Freedom Train. It *might* do a Daylight. The 4449 *was* the Freedom train. Maybe they can design it in such a way that it is easy to replace the orange bits with red, white and blue.
Duq Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 The lack of information can only be a positive thing. I like your wishful thinking but I'm afraid it can just as well mean that there will not be a Creator Expert train this year. I've given up hope anyway...
peterab Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I like your wishful thinking but I'm afraid it can just as well mean that there will not be a Creator Expert train this year. I've given up hope anyway... I must admit I'm worried, in the past we would have known by now. If we don't hear anything by March I will also give up hope. Perhaps we wont get a new Creator Expert train when there are new city trains released. I would be very sad if that is the case.
MaineBrickFan Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Perhaps we wont get a new Creator Expert train when there are new city trains released. I would be very sad if that is the case. As much as I would like an expert train now, it would not be the craziest thing from a business standpoint to hold off a little bit on reintroducing one when you have recently refreshed the City trains. Hopefully this is at worst a pause, and not a new direction. I wonder how the Expert trains sell, compared to other non-licensed exclusives.
