Missing Brick Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Scene from James Cameron's 1986 movie 'Aliens'. The crew of the Sulaco in hypersleep, en route to LV426. Quote
Israel Hands Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Done with mirrors, yes? Still, even the main section is very nicely done Quote
Missing Brick Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Thanks for the positive comments. Yes - I used mirrors at either end to turn 3 cryo tubes into 15. They used the same technique in the actual movie to save money on the set design: See the 'Making of Aliens' documentary here ( they cover the hypersleep scene from 4:40 ) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n7QDzToLl70&list=PL8D6D1EDD0AF5543A Quote
Andy D Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 That is really good. I looks like the cyro tubes go off to infinity. I also looked at some of your other Aliens scenes and they are great as well! Are you trying to create most of the movie? Keep it up, looks great! Andy D Quote
mccoyed Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Amazing. One of the best built and shot scifi scenes on EB! Are you the same Missing Brick on Bricklink? I buy from you! Quote
Lady K Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Awesome! I couldn't even tell there were mirrors! Fantastic, looks just like the movie. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I haven't seen the movie, but I did see one of the sequels. This is a very interesting and creative build. I hadn't noticed you used mirrors, so nice job hiding that. The builds themselves are nicely done. I can easily see that in LEGO form for other people's builds. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Good job with the mirrors, I had guessed(from the Sleepyhead's hair piece appearing twice) that there was some sort of trick, but I'd thought that it was a very clean editing job. Well done! The actual affect is almost unnoticeable, even when you know what and where it is. Quote
ummester Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 That's really nice - captures the feeling of the scene perfectly. Quote
Zepher Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I personally think the mirrors make it even more impressive! This is awesome, congrats on a beautiful set. Quote
JackBricks Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Oh wow that's fantastic! What's that part sitting on the bench in the bottom lefthand corner of the image, a custom weapon? Quote
