Posted June 8, 200717 yr Check it out and let me know what you think. Brickshelf Folder I added a few sets just for size comparision.
June 8, 200717 yr Great looking ship! That's a hard hull to work with. I really like the deck planks, but I would hate to slip down those stairs :)
June 8, 200717 yr Eurobricks Emperor This looks very promising! Good color combinations. And the masts have a good height. From which set does this hull come from? One of the junior sets? My only remark is that the stern castle seems rather big for a ship of this size. Edited June 8, 200717 yr by bonaparte
June 8, 200717 yr Governor Very recommendable to have a picture of the MOC in question in the first post...
June 8, 200717 yr I can't wait to see the finished version of this. But there are to many lanterns. The is a 4+pirates hull Bonaparte,I toyed around with one but couldn't ever get anything.
June 9, 200717 yr Seriously that decking is amazing. I don't think I have seen that before but it looks fantastic. I also love the way you handled the gunports and the spaces between.
June 9, 200717 yr Of course that deck is very fine and for that hull the ship looks extremely brilliant. The green is working surprisingly well also, and I can
June 9, 200717 yr Wow! That is a huge co-incidence! I posted a link to my... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=233522 ...version of that hull and you post a much better one the same day. I was considering adding an extra section and building the whold ship up another deck, but haven't as I more wanted a minimum change version. I especially love the decking, but I think the back is a bit much. (Bit rich from me considering I cheated and used the one that came with the set!) Edited June 9, 200717 yr by Sinner
June 9, 200717 yr The green/teal is pretty good. You sure did have a lot of brown minifig heads!! Nice decking as well. Add some sails and you will have a fine ship indeed!! Post 700! How cool am I? Edited June 9, 200717 yr by ZCerberus
June 9, 200717 yr Looking good! Especcially on this hull! You just inspired me to build with 4+ hulls. If there would be a new Pirate theme, and they'd use the 4+ hull and build the ships like thise, I wouldn't mind! Very nice. Mr Tiber
June 9, 200717 yr I don't particularly love the 4+ hull, though many have worked quite well with it. What they really need is a 20+ wide stud hull *y* Never gunna happen!
June 10, 200717 yr Governor I don't think the use of the 4+ hull looks too bad, but the stern castle does look a little strange. But since this is an unfinished ship I'd be curious to know what else Mr D plans to before completing it?
June 13, 200717 yr Author Actually, I am considering not finishing it. If I do finish it I will add a wall on the back, put on some sails and rigging and call it done. But I have other things I would rather be building and I am trying to reduce my LEGO and convert it into money for tuition. Many of the pieces, especially the pirate ones, are on the list to be sold for sure. Parting the whole thing out will have to be done within a month or so and I am not sure if it is worth the trouble of finishing it. I am glad people like it though. I was trying for a floating fortress and I think it comes close. It is certainly very large.
June 15, 200717 yr Governor Reduce your LEGO??? Are you insane??? What could you possibly need tuition in? You should at least keep all the Pirate stuff and get rid of the rest X-D
June 15, 200717 yr You should at least keep all the Pirate stuff and get rid of the rest X-D That would be a good solution indeed! It would be really a shame not to finish this MOC, as it looks very promising! I always thought he 4+ hull looks too short with one middle section, but with two the proportions are much better. And all the details you added make it a nice and BIG ship.
June 15, 200717 yr Governor But "I have other things I would rather be building" :'-( SuvieD no longer has enough love for Pirates...
