DJ Bricks Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Awesomeness Also, boooo that Owen has Star-Lord's face! Quote
jasonwyngard Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Is this a new version or the same one from the other picture? Quote
deskp Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Is this a new version or the same one from the other picture? Same. just diferent color hair. Quote
jasonwyngard Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Same. just diferent color hair. Hmm interesting,If it was different it would mean we were getting more than one for sure. So maybe we are just getting him in one set. Quote
K-Nut Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Seems completely lazy that it's the same head/hair combo as Star Lord. A different expression should've been used, IMO. It seems from the trailer that Owen is a much sterner character than Star Lord. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Figure looks great. I reckon we will see this on show at last at NYTF! Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Figure looks great. I reckon we will see this on show at last at NYTF! There might be a picture embargo on the sets like previous years. Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I don't mind that it's the same face, It's kinda fun (Saruman and Dooku had the same face too) However the hair is just boring, to to mention it isn't accurate it's the most overused boring male hair out there Quote
namioik Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Funny how Chris Pratt knew he would be in Lego form in the very beginning before we heard rumors of Jurassic world sets and we were all skeptical. Quote
EdWebhead Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Nice to see the figure. I really don't mind them using the same face, I actually like that they did that (it'll be great to put Owen and Star-Lord side by side ). Quote
Boettner Builds Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks for the game teaser! I don't have a single LEGO video game, but I'll be getting LEGO JP!!!! :) Quote
Kintobor Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Pratt continues to prove his ability to be both incredibly classy, and incredibly juvenile. Looks good. I'm definitely picking up at least the Raptor sets. Can never have enough raptors. Quote
Robert8 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Maybe Owen wears another outfit in the movie, and the guy who reported from London Toy Fair didn't recognize him on another set, because it's pretty odd to get the main character in just 1 set. And I'm actually surprised to see LEGO didn't use the short sleeves on Owen Quote
azog15 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) And I'm actually surprised to see LEGO didn't use the short sleeves on Owen I know. It sucks. Edited February 5, 2015 by azog15 Quote
deskp Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 And I'm actually surprised to see LEGO didn't use the short sleeves on Owen The special china minifigure methods are rare in normal set minifigures. Arm printing and side leg printing. And now 2 color arms and legs. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Figure looks great. I reckon we will see this on show at last at NYTF! Hope you're right but it worries me that Lego wont allow people to take pictures of the sets. Quote
Actor Builder Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) I don't think this was posted here before... It's a trailer for the game. https://www.youtube....bed/74vUedgx2Rc I don't know if I'm embedding this right, but I am trying. I also don't know if this is the correct thread for it... It seems to be. Here's hoping. The embedding failed, but the link should work... Never mind any of that. It had already been posted. Edited February 5, 2015 by Actor Builder Quote
The Deleter Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Cross-posting this as the thread for the game is somewhat hidden away: "Imagine playing as the ominous LEGO T. rex, roaming the grounds of Isla Nublar, smashing LEGO bricks and battling with other dinosaurs -- this game is bound to bring out the kid in all of us," says TT Games managing director Tom Stone of LEGO Jurassic World. LEGO Jurassic World covers the events of all four films and lets players "fully explore" Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna as well as collect dinosaur DNA to "create and customize species." http://www.destructo...ld-287169.phtml Basically, you can play as, create your own, battle other, and explore the (hopefully open world) island with Dinosaurs. For anyone looking for a mix-up from the usual cookie-cutter style gameplay Traveler's tales uses for every other Lego game, this might be something worth looking into. Mandate Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 For anyone looking for a mix-up from the usual cookie-cutter style gameplay Traveler's tales uses for every other Lego game, this might be something worth looking into. The last few LEGO games were all said to be "innovative" and "fresh" and none of them really delivered. Usually it takes them a whole game to introduce a half-working concept, and another to perfect it. I really want pictures of the sets Quote
Bornin1980something Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Nice! Looks like I was right and the vehicle Owen is standing on in the promo pic is a classic JP Jeep with JW colours. Now I'm just wondering why they're using old Jeeps when they have more modern vehicles at their disposal. The short answer is, they are probably using modern jeeps, which look a lot like old jeeps! For a longer answer, the vehicles I have seen in JW promotional pics look more like the Mercedes-Benz G Class, another off-roader which hasn't changed much in appearance in decades. Since both the Jeep and the G Class are designed for serious practical off-road use, keeping the outer styling up to date is not a priority. Both types of vehicle have seen a lot more development underneath. A motorcycle for Chris Pratt's character is included but far more interesting was the large blue and white vet truck, which reminded me of the truck in 7726 Coast Guard Truck with Speed Boat. Unlike that truck however this one has a substantial rear section which included some internal details that looked rather nice. I thought that might happen. The 7726 truck is a good 8-wide representation of a unimog, which is what the vet's truck is. Now that 8-wide seems to have fallen out of favour in the City line (perhaps rightly), it's good to see that design finding in new home in the licensed line. If this does end up being a single wave theme I'll be so pissed at Lego for not including any herbivores. There could have ben so much potential, a Stegosaurus, new Triceratops variation, Parasaurolophus, Edmontosaurus, Ankylosaurus, or Pachycephalosaurus are all herbivorous dinosaurs that actually feature in Jurassic World(Edmontosaurus is my personal favourite). Lego should've and still should make at least two of them into lego form. I also wish they would've made the Mosasaurus Fact is, to the casual viewer Jurassic Park is about the ferocious meat eaters attacking humans. The first three movies all featured, as an early high point, a man being eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex. It takes a deeper level of fandom to fully appreciate the herbivores. While many AFOLs would show that level of appreciation, Lego is a children's toy, and in this case, they only produce a small core part of the merchandise. Lego fans looking for real depth would find it more in Lego's original lines. In other, disturbing news, a T Rex skeleton at a small research Institute has developed a more egalitarian taste in food, and eaten a woman. Quote
Nick Wolfe Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I for one think it's hilarious that they just smacked Star Lord's head onto the Dinosaur Star Lord body. Part of me thinks they got the theme just so they could do that. I agree I'd have liked to see some more herbivores. And to those saying that only the violent dinosaurs are popular, have you ever seen a kid who likes dinosaurs? The triceratops is easily among the most popular, certainly more so than dilophosaurus (not that I'm upset to be getting one of those). Stegosaurs too. I would have loved a big set that hat a cool looking brick built brachiosaurus. On the better side of things, I'm really pretty excited about getting a tyrannosaurs in a $50 set, considering the ones we have now tend to run for that much on their own on ebay and bricklink. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This whole "carnivores are more interesting than herbivores because they are more violent" seems extremely stupid to me. Really, I'd be extremely annoyed if Jurassic World doesn't at least acknowledge that herbivores tend to be exponentially more aggressive than carnivores. If you're in a jeep, a lion won't attack you, but a rhinoceros may attempt to ram it. And hippos are the most deadly animal in africa. They have been known to kill crocodiles. And most herbivores will turn omnivorous if they get the chance; it's free, easy-to-digest* food. *Compare the digestive system of a cow to that of almost any carnivore. Cellulose takes a lot of energy to process. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Lego atleast could have bothered to give Star Lords face a serious expression since Owen is like that all the time from what we saw in the trailers,it's not like he'll cracking jokes while training the raptors. Quote
