Darth Punk Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Cameras seem to make sense so I hope it's that. However I have a small fear that it will be something else. There were rumours that one of the early drafts of Jurassic Park 4 had dinosaurs with lasers on their heads. Please don't let it be that... Dinosaurs with frickn lasers? Bring in the sharks! The raptors look cool and I agree the truck looks meh even if it's accurate. Edited February 13, 2015 by Darth Punk Quote
Mandate Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Wow, that's a pretty nice little set. I just wish the wheels were closer to the vehicle, and that the rear wasn't so... square. Don't really like the turret, either, but I'm probably going to buy this set for the raptors. Quote
deskp Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I think theres some real suspension bouncy-ness to the car, thus the wheels are so far down. just cause I like a clear easy comparison: ;) Quote
SMC Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) ^ That would be good but I don't think so, Lego some times just dose make the wells like this with a big gap. They have added hight to the back box so guess it will fit a raptor or two in which would be cool. It funny how people think the raptors look better than the leaks when they are the same, these are the 2 with different color heads to the bodies and I wonder if the head gear helps hind the change of color at the neck which did look odd. lightningtiger Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Seeing that set on Brickset.......meh ! Ugly truck.....doesn't really have to wow factor to it, aimed too much at 5 year olds and that's it......I doubt even 8 or 9 year old kids will want to build this set. Well, I prefer to spend my cash on Scooby or Batman ! Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Well, what an unexpected surprise - I'll admit I'm not really blown away by the truck (though it appears to be pretty accurate to the source material except for those wheels, so that's a plus I guess), but I do like the minifigs and especially the raptors (was pleasantly surprised to see they have accessories and will undoubtedly have to buy extras of the raptor "hat" to kit out all my other raptors). Nonetheless, it will be a must purchase for me, even if I have to wait for a sale on it first. I very nearly missed out on a complete collection of Dino 2012 dinosaurs (though I do have them all), don't want it to happen again with Jurassic World... I better start saving, 2015's being very hard on my poor old wallet Quote
Robert8 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Finally a picture! It's official: NY Toy Fair is here! And I agree about the size of the raptors: they are gigantic Quote
legofanatic12 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Are those two raptors are on the good side? Quote
Elrond Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) It funny how people think the raptors look better than the leaks when they are the same, They sure are but the more neutral lighting makes them look much better/less toyish. BTW I just now realised how much they scaled down the raptors' size on the promo pic. Edited February 14, 2015 by Elrond Quote
legofanatic12 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 The park ranger reminds me of Robo SWAT from The LEGO Movie except they are humans. Quote
Actor Builder Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Groot was strangely oversized, and now the raptors? LEGO seems to like to make Pratt seem small compared to his companions. Quote
Deathleech Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Finally a picture! It's official: NY Toy Fair is here! And I agree about the size of the raptors: they are gigantic They are the exact same size as the 2012 Dino Raptors, no? I think the picture just is making them look larger cause they are at the top of it. Edited February 14, 2015 by Deathleech Quote
Elrond Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 They are the exact same size as the 2012 Dino Raptors, no? I think the picture just is making them look larger cause they are at the top of it. They are, and they are about twice as big as they should be. As some people have said, the mistake comes from the Dino mold but it still is rather annoying, especially considering the velociraptors in the JP movies already are bigger than they should be. I'm thinking it might have been better to use the Dino coelophysis mold and repaint it. Sure he lacks the signature claw but he'd look much better next to minifigs and the other dinos. Quote

I think the picture just is making them look larger cause they are at the top of it. I didn't know that. Dino Raptors moulds are unfamiliar to me. The last dino set I got was one from Dino 2010, the theme where the dinos looked like possessed Quote
Boettner Builds Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I just rechecked the leaked photos. I think the better lighting and the head gear are making the new raptors look better. Quote
Bricknblue Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 You know how to make the raptors look better? Drop the price $20. ;) Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 You would think they'd manage to lower the price if they used the inaccurate, giant old molds for the raptors. But this is an easy pass with the 50 GBP price tag. Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Wow, the raptors look amazing with the headgear! I'm really loving the minifigures too, especially the guards chestplate and sniper rifle. It's always nice to have a generic guard to get eaten... Unfortunately the van looks flat out terrible :( I'll probably wait to see Raptor Escape and see if it's any bette, then just got that one for the raptors ininstead. However, the fact the raptors have names means I'll be sorely tempted to get both sets...sometimes I really hate TLG's marketing scheme You would think they'd manage to lower the price if they used the inaccurate, giant old molds for the raptors. But this is an easy pass with the 50 GBP price tag. I thought it was only meant to cost around £25-30? It's a definate mistake on TLG's part if it's anything more than that Quote

Mandate Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Damn that is expensive. Looks like I'll be missing that set then. Looking forward to seeing the Dilophosaurus! I'm not. It looks like it's using the coelophysis mold... sigh. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I think I heard the Dilophosaurus is a variant of the Coelophysis mould with the signature crests added. It was mentioned in Brickset's London Toy Fair report, and I trust it since the guy who wrote up that part of the report is an extremely good friend of mine (and he's always honest about what he sees). I just hope he didn't mis-see it as then if it does turn out to the same old Coelophysis mould, I'll be sorely disappointed. Also, completely agreed that the raptors are far too big. But then I also thought the Dino 2012 raptors were also far too large unless they were Megaraptors, so I just imagined they were Megaraptors. I don't think they're Megaraptors in this case though! I'm still waiting for the appropriately scaled Velociraptor mould, which could even have come with the Dino Tracker CMF... come on TLG! Quote
