Deathleech Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) $50 for the Raptor Rampage for 300 pieces for a set that looks like the Police Dog carrier which is $30. Plain ridiculous. I guess I'll be waiting for a sale for these Jurassic Park sets. This was pretty much everyone's complaint on Brickset yesterday. They all said the price was too high. In the UK I agree, £50 is pretty steep (almost $80 USD). Usually the price in the UK is pretty close to the American price, unlike in other regions such as Australia where it's expected to be through the roof. In the US though, the price seems pretty spot on. The 2012 Dino set, Raptor Ambush was $30 and it had 65 less pieces, 1 less raptor, 1 less minifigure, and didn't have a motorcycle. You figure at 12 cents a piece, the 65 more pieces bring that $30 price tag up to around 38 bucks. That means for the extra $12 you are getting a minifigure, raptor, and morotorcycle. Seems about right when you factor in this is a licensed set and of course going to cost a little more. I mean COULD it have been cheaper? Sure, at $40-45 it would have been a great deal. At $50 it's a little steep, but still not terrible. Considering all the large molded pieces it seems decent enough. I was considering picking up this line, but after seeing the pics I am not so sure. I will have to wait and see how the last raptor set turns out. Comparing it to the 2012 Dino line, I kinda of wish I would have got that theme instead of these Jurrasic park sets... Considering how the other sets have pretty good PPP, the raptor set is ridiculous. $40 still would have been steep, but not bad.The way I see it, lego thinks that raptors will be everyone's favorite, so they put two ratpors and the only chris pratt minifig in this set for $50 in order to capitalize on the set's popular elements. I like the truck and the raptors a lot, but there's no way I'm going to spend $20 more for a set with 300 pieces. Discounts it is. Edit: You got the link for the brickset complaints? I'd image they be fun to read Edited February 15, 2015 by Bobbtom Quote
Mandate Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Hey, Dr. Wu (the head geneticist from the first movie) is in the I. Rex breakout set! Glad to see he'll be making a return in JW Quote
Faefrost Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Sooo... Bilbo Baggins... In a giant hamster ball... Fleeing from poison spitting Dino thingy? Quote
SMC Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 So we are missing one set which will be a store exclusive, It has two Raptors in it and doesn't star lord train 4 raptors so he could come in this set which would explain why he only comes in one set so far but we are still missing one small dino that we saw in the leaks? Nope, every dino is accounted for. Only raptors, T-rexes, pteranodons, dilophosaurus' and the I. Rex. Quote

I'd image they be fun to read Here is the Brickset page with all the complaints. I understand the price is a little high, especially in the UK where it translates to almost $80. Here is the US though, it's not THAT bad. People were being ridiculous and saying it should cost $20 less, or be a $30 set. Ya cause Lego is really going to make a set that costs the same as their 2012 Dino set, Raptor Chase, when this set has 65 more pieces, an extra raptor, an extra minifigure, and a motorcycle. Oh, and it's a licensed IP as well which of course increases the price. I'm sure if you weighed the set it's cost per ounce would be right there with most of the other sets being released. People just seem to forget those big molded creatures, like a raptor, is probably the weight of 20-30 pieces (if not more when you get into the smaller ones like headlights and such). Legoman123 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I think I'll be picking up all of the sets, I can't believe how well they've turned out. Quote

Think about it this way, ignoring the 2012 set. Say you want 4 raptors, so you buy two of these sets for $100. Look at what yo get for $100, two small trucks 2 small motorcycles and 4 raptors. for $100. I don't like how lego is now charging premiums for large molded figures. It's used to be not this expensive before for molded figs. Now, combined with the fact that sets are having smaller pieces overall give us tiny builds with 300 pieces for $50. The other JW sets are priced pretty fairly, just this one is overpriced. Edited February 15, 2015 by Bobbtom Quote
DJwelsfor Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) Why are people in the US always complaining about prices? Countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada are so much worse off. Here in Australia the price of lego is actually raised, it should be $50 USD=$64 AUD, instead I will probably have to pay $70-$75 AUD ($55-$58 USD). Edited February 16, 2015 by DJwelsfor Quote

Or look at it this way; you can get one large t-rex, one medium size Dilophasaur, 1 large vehicle, 1 small vehicle, 1 morotorcycle, and 5 minifigures for the same price. So buying 2 of the Raptor Rampage nets you 1 more minifigure, 1 more motorcycle, and basically 3 raptors to the 1 t-rex at the cost of 120 pieces. All the rest pretty much cancels out. Honestly, that doesn't seem that bad? 1 motorcycle and 1 minifigure vs 120 pieces? For the record I am not saying this set is priced perfect. I think at $40, or even 45 it would of been more in line with the other sets. For whatever reason Lego likes to price their 50-60 dollar sets a little high when it comes to price per piece. I just thought the people saying the Raptor Rampage set should be a $30 set were out of their minds. There is NO WAY Lego is going to price this set the same as their 2012 Dino set when it's A) a license, B) has more minifigures and an extra raptor, and C) more pieces and a motorocycle Edited February 16, 2015 by Deathleech Quote

Sure its only $20, but I don't like buying over priced sets on release. Quote
Legoman123 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 It's a shame there is no interior area in the Indominus Rex Breakout set. Quote

SMC Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 ^ True but they are showing up in shops so we might have to wait longer for it although for this we have seen no picture at all, we don't even know whats in the set do we? Quote
Bbrink1996 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 we don't even know whats in the set do we? We only know that it has 2 raptors in it. Also, considering the set is named Raptor Escape I hope it will include a small structure or something for the Raptors to escape from. :p Quote

Legoman123 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 What is the price of this rumoured 6th set? Quote
Bbrink1996 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 What is the price of this rumoured 6th set? 39,99 but i'm not sure if this is in US dollars or some other currency. Quote
SMC Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) ^ I thought that was from London toy fair so UK £39.99 might be same in US. Which looking at the other raptor set means we won't get much of a build in it. Edited February 17, 2015 by SMC Quote
