Tom Jurassic Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 So was having a look at this video again (Credit to the awesome BrickShow guys!) and noticed a very nice little nod to the in-game Indominus Rex paddock. Underneath the crane, there is an area which at first looks completely open, but actually has a glass window, with an area to cover it. This is very much a nod to the area where Owen and Claire observe the Rex in my opinion! Plus it even has an access ladder. We also get a hint at the inside of that awesome Lab too. I know it is expensive, but this set seems jampacked with epic features inspired by those on-screen, and looks to be the perfect central piece for the new line! So stoked! Thoughts guys? Quote
azog Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 what set do you guys think will sell the best in this line? Quote
Captain Nemo Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I think the Dilophosaurus set will sell the best. It includes only two minifigures (In fact most of the sets feel like they could use one more figure), but the jeep is well designed and for sure that Gyrosphere will be enticing for many people--since it just looks so fun to roll around! Plus the Dilohosaurus is one of the nicer designed dinos, being both scary and colorful. And finally the price seems the best for what you get, considering the jeep is built well--it seems a better buy than the $20 Pterodactyl set (which strikes me as slightly boring) and the Raptor set which most find slightly overpriced. The Dilophosaurus set is for sure the first one I'm buying! In the aftermarket however...all those Dinos gonna be sellin' well! Or at least for a lot! Quote
azog Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 true, but yeah that would probably be the first one I buy Quote
Deathleech Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I'd like to see the small Coelophysis recolor. What's the point of it being made if it's not being used? Well we aren't getting triceratops from the 2012 Dino line and that was a new mold, so who knows if they will re-use the Coelophysis? Quote
Leewan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Well we aren't getting triceratops from the 2012 Dino line and that was a new mold, so who knows if they will re-use the Coelophysis? Among the photos of dinosaurs which leaked a few months ago, there was a lime green coelophysis, which doesn't appear in any set. Quote
VictorFrenchFries Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 The Coelophysis will most likely be in the Raptor Escape set with the two remaining Velociraptors. Quote
Deathleech Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 The Coelophysis will most likely be in the Raptor Escape set with the two remaining Velociraptors. Ehh, I dunno about that. The only price slots left are the $35-45 one, and the $75-120. I seriously doubt a retail exclusive will be over $50, it seems they are usually in the $40 price range? Three molded dinosaurs in a $40 set doesn't leave room for much else. I mean it's possible, but then we prolly will only get one minifigure and minimal bricks. Three dinos in a single set alone would make it extremely saught after, especially if it's on the cheaper side. Quote
SMC Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 That set will be £39.99 and I agree we will just get the 2 raptors. Quote
Gremer Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I'm not really a fan of the line (or dinos in general) but I'll definitely be picking up Dilophosaurus Ambush. Quote
ChrisLikesDinos Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I am bummed none of the sets have any recognizable locations/buildings. I would have liked to see the new visitors center, or something else visually iconic. Quote

Ondra Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 After some huge succes of jurrasic park UCS ideas set or brickbuild t rex, I think that designers are working on some kind of exclusive set maybe for next year. I can Imagine visitor center from first movie, packed with most memorable rooms as laboratory or computer room. Also with dinosaur skeletons, trex vs velociraptor fight and at least one JP car parked in front of building. Boettner Builds Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I don't care how much a UCS Jurrasic Park Visitor Centre would cost!!!! I would so buy it!!! Quote
Captain Nemo Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I really cannot see us getting a USC set for the Jurassic line. Most people already feel the World sets are too expensive, so a USC Visitor center (with obligatory T-Rex) would be very expensive--I'm not sure how much of a market there would be for it. It would be cool though. I can see us getting some set with the gate at some point however, since it's easily the most iconic structure from the Jurassic movies. I think the most likely thing we'll get based on the old movies would be a John Hammond minifigure; since he's basically screaming to be the pre-order figure for the Jurassic World game. Speaking about the game--I have to say I'm upset the T-Rex we are physically getting is the old orange and brown rather than the far more accurately colored dark tan/brown/grey T-Rex shown in the teaser (the games always have better designs; it's basically a fact at this point). I never liked the Orange-Rex we were given from the 2012 Dinos; so it's unfortunate that we are getting the same one again, when all the other Dinos got a color swap--so it sucks we didn't get an accurate T-Rex. The problem (for me) now is that regardless of what color I'd prefer, I still want a T-Rex; and I know that if I don't buy that overpriced set he comes in (which is also easily the worst of the wave) I'll have to pay horrendous prices later on just for that iconic dino. Darn. Quote
Ondra Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 That ideas set gate with brickbuild T rex will be great ucs set.JP ideas set 10 k votes for reupload , brickbuild T rex another 10 k.I think there is huge market hungry. We already saw previous IP ideas set, that went to exclusive set.Sandcrawler, hellicarier, tumbler and probably western town=lone ranger . Quote

We already saw previous IP ideas set, that went to exclusive set.Sandcrawler, hellicarier, tumbler and probably western town=lone ranger . Well those could be largely the same people voting for those Jurassic Park ideas sets... And none of those IP USC sets were made as a result of the similar ideas reaching 10,000 votes. Those were all in production for extended periods as those similar sets gained voting momentum (plus to be honest, none of those examples constitue anything "unique" or unexpected enough to not be chosen at some point by Lego themselves to make sets of--with the exception of the Helicarrier, all those ideas were actually sets years ago). I think in the Helicarrier video, the designer mentions that he was working on the set for well over a year or so. Lone Ranger may be responsible for the rejection of the Western town, but we can all see westerns in general are falling out of favor with the public. Long story short, I don't see any reason to expect a Jurassic USC--it is not an established theme, nor is it a sure thing; Dinos 2012 after all apparently sold poorly. This does have a big movie backing it up, but I doubt Lego would take the added risk of a massive set on such a new untested IP. Quote
Ondra Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 But remember they made orthanc and haunted house.Haunted house is still mystery for me, why they choose monster hunters. Quote

While I absolutely see where you are coming from (I would have preferred a T-Rex with the new colour combinations seen in the teaser too) I just want to point out that the T-Rex we're getting is actually quite different from that of the orange 2012 T-Rex. The orange 2012 T-Rex was Dark Orange with a Dark Red upper and Dark Brown patternings. The one in the T-Rex tracker appears to be Medium Dark Flesh with a Dark Orange upper and Dark Brown patternings (which are distinctly different). Sorry, I had to jump in there because that statement sounded like the 2012 and 2015 version of the T-Rex were exactly the same when they are not. I do agree that they are fairly similar though Oh, and while I'd be absolutely thrilled with a UCS Jurassic World set, I'm kind of hoping they don't make one - my wallet can't take the pounding anymore with what's currently about! Having recently rewatched the first Jurassic Park, and having watched the darkened T-Rex attack those kids in that hurricane storm...ah memories...is it too much to ask Lego to make that scene accurate with a brown T-Rex?!
