If there is a wave of JP sets coming, it'll fail for sure, otherwise I think it has chances

Id wager the Ideas set will fail just as surely even if there is no wave of JP sets. I forget who the company behind JP/JW is but their interest is to have TLG sell their own sets, not a similar set by a third party that would draw sales away from the official sets.

Arent there clauses in license deals that enforce this?

Nice find! Nice to see the 2 raptors are indeed slightly different in colouration and print from those in 75917 - but is it just me or does the one named Charlie look ever so similar to the green raptor from the Dino 2012 line? I don't think it is, but it's a little difficult for me to tell with the small pictures :look: Once some nice high-res pictures of it come out I'll be able to put it all against those leaked pics I have stored on my computer for reference.

Anybody know what the piece count might be? Looks quite small for a ~£35-£40 set (I'm just estimating that from the US price, I can't remember the UK price), but given the other raptor set is going to be an eye-watering £50 here - it shouldn't really be a surprise.

Now what's happened to the Coelophysis? Now we can see it's not part of Raptor Escape, it must be part of a polybag, D2C or just a false run to trick everybody (who knows nowadays) now

I love how this theme is having a variety of different races throughout the sets. We have about five different race of minifigs. We really need some different races of females in lego.

The JP ideas set would also be licensed and give sales to the JP/JW group.

I would be very very surprised if it plays out that way. The chances are almost overwhelming that the Ideas sets will simply be viewed as a license conflict and fail at review. Much the same as the Western Tavern conflicted with LR. And honestly the bulk of the decision will probably rest with the licensor, not with Lego. That is something we often fail to appreciate. With unlicensed subjects the decision is entirely Lego's for business reasons. For new licenses it mostly comes down to whether or not a deal can be reached, with the expected give and take etc. but for pre existing licenses, above and beyond any other considerations the licensor has absolute veto. If it does not fit their marketing plans, down it goes. If they are unwilling to extend or expand to cover the subject, that's it.

Remember also we have seen no hints that Lego has an older Jurrasic Park license. In fact there were reports that Hasbro KreeO had that property at one point, although I suspect KreeO is dying a fairly rapid death and the license would appear to have reverted.

Is it just me or almost all this JW sets look... uninspired? (with the exception of Dilophosaurus Ambush) :sceptic:

You're not the only one... I guess we had higher expectations :(

Man, I'm really liking this theme. I couldn't stand the last three dino themes (the two from 2005 and then the 2012 one), but I love the color scheme here and the minifigures are very well done. I think it's the most racially diverse wave a theme has ever had, and the most different characters from the movie a theme is based on in one wave.

I feel TLG has been coasting with some of their licensed lines like JW and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Due respect to the designers but they builds just aren't interesting IMO.

I have the dino theme from 2012 and I love these sets because they really finish off my layout!!! I will probably be getting pteranodon capture, dilophosaurus ambush, raptor rampage, and raptor escape!!! thanks for the pics!!!

I kind of agree. Admittedly the dino molds do sort of throw the builds out of proportion for the cost, but honestly I think they're focusing on the wrong things anyway. I mean cages, paddocks and workman vehicles are fun and all but I'd rather have had a part of the park instead. A monorail or the visitors center would have been much more interesting. So far the play feature in these sets seems to be catching dinosaurs and that's about it. They really could have been more inventive than that.

Who knows, maybe this is what the license holder wanted. I'll get the sets, but mostly for the dino's and some spare parts.

I didn't bother with the last Dino theme because I had no use for the over abundance of yellow, but the dark bley and blue are very useful. It will all depend on my budget, and however long the theme lasts.

Very happy with this line overall. I feel the vehicles are quite faithful to their on-screen counterparts from the trailers we have seen (With the exception of the Trapper, of course!), and am glad we got two pieces of structure which have the potential to be expanded apon following similar designs. As well as this, I love how the sets have nods to footage from the trailers too.

Only downside is each set feels as though it needed one more figure with the exception of a couple, and the same Vet across three sets is annoying when it could've been different nationalities or genders. Also, really hope an ACU guy is a poly so we can army build them!

My opinion is on the other end, I feel like the Jurassic World theme is really, really bad, one of the worst licensed themes we've gotten. Sure if you like the big, boring plastic molded dinosaurs then you're in for a treat but if not we just get expensive sets with lackluster builds.

However one thing that I absolutely love is that there's several colored minifigs in this theme, a very good thing. :classic:

I want that Raptor Escape set so much! I hope the rumors of it being a retailer exclusive aren't true because it would extremely limit my chances of finding it in The Netherlands. :sceptic:
