OneStudShort Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I really hope we get more set's with the same style dinos. It's a shame we only got one new dino this time. Quote
OneStudShort Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I forgot we have one mutant dino. I don't think he really counts as a dino. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I ordered the Indominus Rex Breakout set last night. Can't wait for it to arrive! Quote
VictorFrenchFries Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I forgot we have one mutant dino. I don't think he really counts as a dino. I think the Dilophosaurus does count he may have some old pieces but he does have a new head and new legs. Don't know if anyone noticed that but they are thinner and don't have that raised claw. The_Chosen_1 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 ^ Pretty sure he was referring to the Indominus Rex being a genetic hybrid. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I'm still unsure myself as to whether the Indominus Rex counts as a true dinosaur or not. I'm leaning towards "no" given it's genetically engineered. But it does look enough like a dinosaur for me to be interested in it. It's easy enough to pretend that it looks like some as-yet-undiscovered tyrannosaur species And as for the Dilophosaurus, yes that does count as a dinosaur (and it does have 3 new moulds in it). Though I do question it in terms of true-to-life accuracy, as I'm pretty sure Dilophosaurus in real life did not spit venom and have frills like a lizard on it's head. Movie accuracy: spot on. Real life accuracy: not so much. Anyway... I got myself the Pteranodon Capture set yesterday at a small discount. I haven't got roun to building it yet, but I did pull the Pteranodon from it and it looks fantastic, especially sitting next to my other two Pteranodons. Net on my "to buy" list is the Indominus Rex set Quote

No way... when I wrote that last post I was thinking of comparing the I-Rex to Carcharodontosaurus too. The hands are a bit out of proportion, sure (no allosaurid or tyrannosaurid a similar size to T-Rex has arms/hands like that?), but it looks close enough once you can get past the fact the I-Rex is white. I think it's the distinct teeth on the I-Rex model that made me draw the comparison in my mind, since Carcharodontosaurus also has distinct teeth (the name translated literally means "shark toothed lizard") Quote
Bbrink1996 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 It seems the sets still haven't showed up in the Netherlands yet which makes me slightly upset. People who work there said they should have them by the end of the week but I just came back and nothing. Hopefully I have better luck next week, I really want Dilophosaurus Ambush and Raptor Escape. :P Quote

Boettner Builds Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I was told by a LEGO Store member that we will be seeing a second wave of the JW sets :) Quote
Robert8 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I was told by a LEGO Store member that we will be seeing a second wave of the JW sets :) Really? That'd explain why Owen, the lead, appears only in one set. When was the last time we got a second wave of a theme based only in one movie? Quote
just2good Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Really? That'd explain why Owen, the lead, appears only in one set. Well, we have that one LEGO Dimensions pack coming out, that's probably what they mean. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I was told by a LEGO Store member that we will be seeing a second wave of the JW sets :) That's pretty cool - when I am next at Bluewater I will ask the guy who said we won't, and will see if anything has changed. I hope we see a second wave - sets seem to be doing really well so far from the impression I get off of web reviewers. Just2Good, is it possible that things could have changed since you last learnt things? I feel like you should reach out to some 'contacts'... Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Still hoping that they'll put out at least one or two sets from the original film. That would just be too cool!!! Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Still hoping that they'll put out at least one or two sets from the original film. That would just be too cool!!! In the recently released TV Spot 4 (I don't count this as a spoiler - I hope no one else does, but if you do just let me know and I can spoiler tag it) we see Claire and Owen hiding from the Indominus Rex in some kind of building, and taking shelter behind one of the original Jurassic Park jeeps (So I presume this is within the restricted section). So LEGO could be very smart and release the Ideas set with the Explorer (s) and a bunch of original characters, and then release a worn down Jeep in a JW set but with instructions on which extra parts to buy to make it a fully functional jeep again. I'd love that! Here's the link for reference: Edited May 10, 2015 by LegoFan117 Quote
legofanatic12 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Could the ACU Trooper in Raptor Rampage will be Katashi Hamada? Because the one that appears in LEGO Dimensions Jurassic World Team Pack is a same as Dilophosaurus Ambush, but with body armor. Edited May 11, 2015 by legofanatic12 Quote
OneStudShort Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 So is September when we will find out if there is a second wave for JW? I NEED MORE! Quote
legofanatic12 Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 So is September when we will find out if there is a second wave for JW? I NEED MORE! If they made a second wave it will be based on the original Jurassic Park trilogy, but the name Jurassic World will be remained? Hopefully this theme should continue. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Received Raptor Escape and Indominus Rex Breakout for my Birthday today, and very satisfied with both sets on the whole! Raptor Escape is a fantastic little set which grows on me the more I play with it. Barry and the Vet are both very nice minifigures (Although another ACU Member would not have gone a miss), and both Raptors are very nice and have unique prints to those in Raptor Rampage, making for four very nice Raptors. The Paddock, whilst very barebones, does the job it sets out to do nicely and with a touch of aesthetic flair, and can even hold all four raptors at once, meaning that if you have both sets you can combine them to simulate the paddock where all four members of the Raptor Squad are stationed. The Indominus Rex Breakout set is easily my favorite set of the line so far (I have all bar the T-Rex Tracker, which I am ordering with my Birthday money ASAP as well as preordering the game). The Minifigure lineup could've benefited from another ACU worker, or the worker who we see eaten in so many of the trailers so far, but besides that the set is perfect. It has a nice scale to it and reflects a lot of the actual pen nicely, with details like the flashlights and the crane really bringing it to life. There are a lot of nice play features to the set, and it definitely feels like the hub of the JW line, with space for plenty of figures and lots of options for play ability. I really love the inclusion of a glass viewing area in one wall - this is where my Claire and Owen minifigs are setup currently. Definitely would recommend both sets. Really hope for a wave two now - LEGO knocked this first wave out the park IMO, so I can see a second wave hitting back just as strong! Quote
Quicksilver Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 So in your guys opinion, which is the introductory set into this wave? I want to get a Jurassic World Set but they are all so Awesome I can't decide. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 If I could only pick one set, I'd probably go with the Raptor Rampage. For what it's worth. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) On the subject of the accuracy of the Dilophosaurus, I think it's worth mentioning All Yesterdays. My main issue with it isn't the frill or the acid, which are unlikely, but possible, it's the Jurassic Park franchise's constant issues with feathers and scale (no pun intended), both of which are known. That "Dilophosaurus" is way too large. The weird thing is that the movie version seems to have gotten the size right. Why couldn't LEGO have made one that's at about the same size class and detail level as the collectible minifigures albatross? Just include a small launcher with tr. neon or black studs (depending on whether you want to invoke Hollywood Acid or movie accuracy) to show kids that it can spit acid. Edited May 15, 2015 by DraikNova Quote
VictorFrenchFries Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Well if you just Google "Dilophosaurus size", you get a bunch of pics of a dinosaur almost twice the size of a human and others of the size of a human. Plus, I think the Dilophosaurus in Jurassic Park was a baby. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 So in your guys opinion, which is the introductory set into this wave? I want to get a Jurassic World Set but they are all so Awesome I can't decide. I'd say either Dilophosaurus Ambush, as you get the main 4x4 (One of the main vehicles in the original film and obviously going to be rather prominent in the new film as a park worker utility vehicle), a Gyrosphere (Which offers a few display options for a functioning park) and a Dilophosaurus. You also get two nice figures, with the printing on the ACU being phenomenal, and Gray is nice too. Although I could agree with The_Chosen_1 regarding Raptor Rampage as the build is nice and you get the main character. It's your decision though buddy. Quote
