I also think the Dilophosaurus in JP was a baby because Dennis Nedry says to the Dilophosaurus "I thought you were one of your big brothers, You're not so bad" Something like that.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, there is a new LEGO Jurassic World trailer out:

It features a couple of new Dinosaur moulds. I remember the studio saying they designed these to be as close to designs LEGO could actually make as possible, and liased with the LEGO designers throughout. Is it possible that we could see some of these in a second wave?

Huh, I was under the impression that they were about the same size as velociraptors. I guess that's one strike against it gone.

Dilophosaurus is definitely a lot larger than Velociraptor (Velociraptor being about 1.8 metres long, barely a metre in height, I think Dilophosaurus averages 6 metres long and a bit over 2 metres tall, definitely a bit taller than the average human). No matter what way you look at it though, LEGO's Dilophosaurus is inaccurate to the real thing in terms of size. It should be a bit smaller. But then again, it's not as bad as the raptors (whch are commonly referred to as Velociraptors, even if LEGO avoids specifying the exact genus). The raptors are almost as big as LEGO's Triceratops. But that can be put down to the fact that popular media often exaggerates Velociraptor's size in order to heighten their threat level (or something like that).

And don't get me started on the problems I have with the Coelophysis mould

I'd say either Dilophosaurus Ambush, as you get the main 4x4 (One of the main vehicles in the original film and obviously going to be rather prominent in the new film as a park worker utility vehicle), a Gyrosphere (Which offers a few display options for a functioning park) and a Dilophosaurus. You also get two nice figures, with the printing on the ACU being phenomenal, and Gray is nice too. Although I could agree with The_Chosen_1 regarding Raptor Rampage as the build is nice and you get the main character. It's your decision though buddy. :classic:

Thanks For The Recommenation! I was probably going to get Dilophosaurus Ambush for The Dilophosaurus and the 4x4 as they are both great designs. I might also get the T-Rex Tracker For The T Rex and the fact I don't have anything else on my Must Have List this year. :P

I really hope we get an annual wave of Jurassic Park/World sets as there is sooo much potential for more places, Vehicles, Characters and Dinosaur Moulds in the Future.

If I could only pick one set, I'd probably go with the Raptor Rampage. For what it's worth.

Thank You! I might also pick that one up for the Pratt Mini figure.

No worries man, hope you enjoy whatever set(s) you decide to purchase in the end as in my opinion, all of them are fantastic for different reasons. :classic:

Why couldn't LEGO have made one that's at about the same size class and detail level as the collectible minifigures albatross?

It probably just came down to cost and budget. Lego figured they could re-use most of the raptor pieces if they kept it that size and then just give us a new head mold rather than having to give us new molds for everything to get the size exactly right.

Honestly I don't see the issue. Lego minifigures are constantly sized wrong compared to vehicles, buildings, and other animals. Most of the time you can barely fit one minifigure in a vehicle. Heck look at the Lego LotR eagles, they are like half the size they should be as seen in the movie.

I think that the Coelophysis could easily be repurposed as a more size-accurate Velociraptor, or at least a baby raptor.

Yep, I think so too. As long as you can overlook the fact it doesn't have the famous "raptor claw". But either way, it's definitely not a Gallimimus

But honestly? I'd like an accurately scaled Velociraptor, like this one I custom moulded myself recently (still a tad too big, but...):

That Jurassic Park jeep actually appears to be a real model they made for the promotion, as they said they do build sets for the games to ensure everything can work in LEGO. I wonder if we are seeing JP Sets afterall? That Jeep could easily include Grant, Satler, the Vet, and a Triceratops with a small piece of environment. :classic:

I second that motion! Or it could be Dennis and a baby Dilophosaurus?

That'd be awesome as well! I was thinking, what if they have already decided to do the ideas set, but have changed it to include an Explorer and a Jeep? :classic:

I would like to get a JW set but I don't know which one. I like the I-Rex breakout, until I looked at the price! :snicker: So out of the smaller sets which one is the best? If it helps I'd kinda like a raptor so I can make a Dr. Dinosaur..

INSANE WITH GENIUS!!

Between the 2 raptor sets I prefer the escape set; I like the printing of the included raptors and the pen. The vehicle in the latter set does nothing for me.

I'd agree. The Pen is a nice design, the printing on the two Minifigures is good, the Raptors are great and the ATV is pretty nicely scaled. :)

Thirded the recommendation on Raptor Escape, especially if you're just interested in the raptors. I feel it's better value for money, it could even be considered a poor man's Indominus Rex Breakout given they're both sets focused on dinosaur pens. But you do ultimately miss out on the raptor's headgear (though if you really wanted them, you can get them from Bricklink).

Raptor Rampage is just one of those rare sets that I'm very hesitant to purchase at full RRP. I'm waiting until it falls below 20% off RRP before biting, but, surprisingly, the best offer I can find on it is 2 pence off. What a saving... :sarcasm_smug:

I might check the stores tomorrow. There are two stores near me that tend to have a large selection of LEGO, and one of the stores I may visit is basically the Dutch equivalent of ToysRUs.

Is anyone else experiencing slow turn out rates? The sets have started slowly--like really slowly--showing up in the stores one by one.

My Walmart only revived two Dilophosaurus sets, and some Raptor ones. Target has only gotten the D-Rex and T-Rex. And likewise my Tous R Us set has gotten those and just now the 50 and 20 dollar sets--and the latter turned up some 2-3 weeks later. I hope this wave doesn't suffer because of spotty distribution.
