Deathleech Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Raptor Rampage is just one of those rare sets that I'm very hesitant to purchase at full RRP. I'm waiting until it falls below 20% off RRP before biting, but, surprisingly, the best offer I can find on it is 2 pence off. What a saving... Why is that surprising? The sets have only been released officially for a little over 2 weeks. Give it a few months and I am sure the sales will hit. Quote

Give it a few months and I am sure the sales will hit. Indeed. I for one am looking forward to the sales now - I'm wanting a second, maybe third Dilophosaurus Ambush, maybe another Raptor Rampage and another Raptor Escape so I can make the Raptor Paddock bigger. TheOneVeyronian Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Is anyone else experiencing slow turn out rates? The sets have started slowly--like really slowly--showing up in the stores one by one. My Walmart only revived two Dilophosaurus sets, and some Raptor ones. Target has only gotten the D-Rex and T-Rex. And likewise my Tous R Us set has gotten those and just now the 50 and 20 dollar sets--and the latter turned up some 2-3 weeks later. I hope this wave doesn't suffer because of spotty distribution. Yes, seems to be like that in part in the UK too. Though to be fair, most specialist toy retailers (TRU, Argos, possibly Smyths but haven't checked them) did get them on the shelves on time, but one major UK toy shop (The Entertainer) only today put out their Jurassic World stock - and they didn't even have everything (at least Indominus Rex was missing), neither did they put it with the other LEGO, but rather with the other JW merchandise. Why is that surprising? The sets have only been released officially for a little over 2 weeks. Give it a few months and I am sure the sales will hit. Ha ha - sorry I was being a bit sarcastic in my last post. I'm not really surprised, and was more taking the mick out of Amazon UK taking 2 pence off the price of Raptor Rampage and then calling it a discount Also, does anybody know why the T-Rex Tracker isn't popping up on Brickset's Amazon discount feed for the UK at all? It's on Amazon UK itself and all the other JW sets are there, just not that one. Makes it very hard to monitor it for discounts I might have to send an email to them to alert whoever keeps the useful tool up-to-date... Quote

Bbrink1996 Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I might check the stores tomorrow. There are two stores near me that tend to have a large selection of LEGO, and one of the stores I may visit is basically the Dutch equivalent of ToysRUs. You mean ToysXL? I know we have those in the Netherlands. I have one in my city that has a large Lego selection. I asked them multiple times about when they would be available and for a few weeks I have been hearing "next week". Let me know if you found something. ;) Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I have only seen them at a TRU (almost all sold out other than I-Rex) and saw 2 sets at a Wal-Mart. I haven't seen tags or spots on the shelf for them anywhere else. And the Wal-Mart's location was very odd. It wasn't in the LEGO aisle. It was a few aisles over on an endcap with other JW merchandise. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Received my T Rex tracker today. A great set which needed another fig. I wish we had seen the Galimimus trap as a £10 set with Hamada and two other ACU troopers for army building. :) Quote

I wish we had seen the Galimimus trap as a £10 set with Hamada and two other ACU troopers for army building. :) That would've been nice to have. Always good to have some spare genericish army soldiers lying around. But it would've looked weird to have a set with a 3 ACU memebers going to take down a Galliminus/Coelophysis, while only a Vet and 1 ACU Member take down a T Rex! Quote

I am still holding out for an ACU Polybag that comes with a trooper and an armory rack with accessories, like the 2012 Hawkeye one. Off topic slightly, but you guys seen TV Spot 15? Gives me chills. Really eerie. Quote
Bbrink1996 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Off topic slightly, but you guys seen TV Spot 15? Gives me chills. Really eerie. With the I.rex hatchling right? Yeah that one is definitely the best tv spot so far. So creepy. Would be cool if we could also get a Lego Baby Indominus Rex. How cool would that be? :D Quote

Really eerie. Jurassic World ACU would need to get there priorities straight. The TV spot is very cool. It'll be interesting to see of they use that exact same shot in the film or if it was made specifically for marketing. An I-Rex egg would be very cool to get as a physical brick/mould. Maybe in a pilybag with an ACU if we get one. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Both of you are thinking of the right one! The I Rex egg would be cool. :) The way Clare screams and it echoes through gives me chills!!! Quote
DraikNova Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Great, now I want a hatchling I. Rex. It's just so cute. That's why you give dinosaurs feathers. Baby birds don't look adorable, they look like they want to rip out your eyes and lay eggs in the sockets. Quote
ryodi Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I've checked but cannot see if it's been mentioned already, but Amazon UK have their own special edition of the Lego Jurassic Park video game. It includes a Doctor Wu minifigure plus printed amber piece, it looks like the same figure from the Indominous Rex set. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lego-Jurassic-World-Mini-Figure/dp/B00WWLR1KM/ref=pd_sim_vg_h__1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0GARGK8J075G382R805X Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Got to play the game a bit day - not too different from other LEGO Games but captures the JP theme nicely and was fun. Only played the demo levels which have already been shown - was really hoping for a Jurassic World demo but no such luck unfortunately. Also met some cool guy from Universal and saw snippets of new JW footage. This was all at MCM Expo London. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Thirded the recommendation on Raptor Escape, especially if you're just interested in the raptors. I feel it's better value for money, it could even be considered a poor man's Indominus Rex Breakout given they're both sets focused on dinosaur pens. But you do ultimately miss out on the raptor's headgear (though if you really wanted them, you can get them from Bricklink). Raptor Rampage is just one of those rare sets that I'm very hesitant to purchase at full RRP. I'm waiting until it falls below 20% off RRP before biting, but, surprisingly, the best offer I can find on it is 2 pence off. What a saving... Another possible reason to recommend the Raptor Escape over Raptor Rampage would be the truck. I bought this for my oldest son, and the wheels are really a problem. They use technic axles, wheels, and technic bushings to act as the hubcaps. You need to have the wheels attached just right. A millimeter in either direction creates a problem. If you push the hubcaps in, the wheels will lock. If you try to loosen them to allow the truck to roll, the wheels come off. There is a sweet spot, but with no wiggle room to move them further in or out. Obviously, as he plays with the truck, the wheels will naturally push in or out a little bit, so constant adjustment is necessary. It is no fun anymore for either of us with the need to constantly try and fix the wheels. Perhaps you might want to keep this in mind when choosing between the two sets. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Lego Jurassic Park project did not pass. So gutted right now. Quote
Bbrink1996 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Lego Jurassic Park project did not pass. So gutted right now. Dangit. Atleast the Bricksauria T.rex is in the next review process so that might make a chance. Maybe Lego has plans of itself as well with the Jurassic Park license so maybe they didn't want this to get in the way of their own plans. Also, The JW sets have finally showed up in the Netherlands. I just bought Dilophosaurus Ambush but haven't built it yet. I haven't checked all toy stores yet but i'm also hoping to find Raptor Escape in one of those stores. Also, does anyone know if the official Lego stores have the Raptor Escape set? Because it is exclusive to some stores but i'm not sure if the official Lego stores have it. Quote
Ondra Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Well this is only universal problem that they didnt want our money and I didnt want to pay money for really bad jurassic world set... Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 That Sprinter-Van in LEGO looks fantastic from what we see of it! I am really hopeful that we see a second wave of Jurassic World sets, especially considering it has been stated repeatedly that all in-game models can be created with LEGO. It seems like LEGO would be silly not to! Quote
Elrond Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 The more I look at the JW sets, the more I'm disappointed in this theme. The dinos and especially minifigs are awesome (and it seems like we'll get all the main characters and lots of army builders for once) but the vehicles are a real let down. Half of them aren't based on anything from the movie while the helicopter and the vet truck aren't very impressive. I think modding some vehicles from the City line will probably be the best option. The D-rex paddock does look nice though but even that doesn't seem to be based on the actual thing from the movie. Quote
Ultron Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I would actually buy some of these sets if they weren't so expensive and the builds were better. I really like the minifigs and dinos though..maybe my opinion will change after seeing the movie. Quote

Quicksilver Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Wow that Lego Ankylosaurus in the Lego Jurassic World gameplay trailer is nice. Too bad we didn't get it in a set Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Wow that Lego Ankylosaurus in the Lego Jurassic World gameplay trailer is nice. Too bad we didn't get it in a set Tis indeed, as is the Gallimimus. Both were actually not designed by LEGO, but by guys at TT Games with consultancy from designers, which makes their design even more impressive. I'm still holding out hope for a second wave - if we kick up enough fuss, it may happen. Is JW LEGO selling well around people? Quote
