I'm in for a Wave 2 and 3. MORE MORE MORE Make it happen!

Tis indeed, as is the Gallimimus. Both were actually not designed by LEGO, but by guys at TT Games with consultancy from designers, which makes their design even more impressive. I'm still holding out hope for a second wave - if we kick up enough fuss, it may happen.

Is JW LEGO selling well around people? :classic:

Haha, agreed with you there! It's a shame that most of Lego's dinosaur lines are so short - they have plenty of potential, especially considering the game already features several other vehicles that they could make. I'd love a big £100 set for Wave 2 with part of the Monorail, the seating for the Mosasaur arena, and that lovely big Mosasaur. :classic:

I would actually buy some of these sets if they weren't so expensive and the builds were better. I really like the minifigs and dinos though.

I agree. It seems like Lego took a couple steps back in regards to design compared to the Dino sets they put out a few years ago. I'd love it should Lego ever release another Dino line that includes anything BUT T. rex, velociraptors, and pteradons. My Lego triceratops is the only veggiesaurus in the bunch. An ankylosaur would be a welcome addition.

I've been in 2 Walmarts since the release date and they seem to be doing alright. (They don't sell the I Rex Breakout)

In one Walmart, they were sold out of the Petranodon Takedown, had one Raptor Escape left and two of both the T Rex Tracker and Dilophosaurus Ambush.

In the other one I went to the Raptor Escape was out and they were well stocked on all the rest.

It definitely seems like Raptor Rampage is the weak set in the wave, due to the main draw (the Raptors) being available in another and cheaper set.

Thanks for taking the time out to write that all up in response buddy - I really appreciate the insight! :classic: So it sounds as if LEGO Jurassic World is doing okay as a standalone theme, which is good news. I imagine after the films release in about nine days time, and the release of the video game to coincide with that, we may see a boost in sales, as consumers tend to invest more in film merchandise after seeing a film that they have enjoyed. Be interesting to keep tabs on the line and see if sales increase after the films release. :classic:

Is it likely they will release sets from previous Jurassic Park films?

As much as it pains me to say it, at the moment it is unlikely. TLG have always been reluctant to release a Dinosaur line with more than one wave, and it looks as if this license is likely to be no different. That said, they did pay the licensing fee, so if they feel there is the potential for more revenue off the license, they may release another wave. I personally would love it! A lot of the designs in the upcoming Jurassic World game look fantastic, so they could easily transition them into sets, giving us sets based on the old films and some more JW sets too. At this moment it all depends on sales, as TLG feel they have already covered the old films with the studio sets. But you never know with LEGO, so keep your eyes open!

That Sprinter-Van in LEGO looks fantastic from what we see of it! I am really hopeful that we see a second wave of Jurassic World sets, especially considering it has been stated repeatedly that all in-game models can be created with LEGO. It seems like LEGO would be silly not to!

Am I the only one that is seriously annoyed that they use the old-style hinges on the Jurassic World Shuttle?

I guess it is weird to use that style of hinge. How long has it been out of circulation?

In your guys opinion which set is better, Raptor Escape or Dilophosaurus Ambush? Trying to decide between the two.

For the price, both are exceptional. What do you prefer - Structural pieces or Vehicles? I can lay out the positives and negatives for each one if you want man. :classic:

If you don't mind, that would be great.

Picked up Raptor Escape this weekend. I think it's a great little set and good for expanding on - which I like. The overall design probably isn't anything super special, but I can copy the placement of techic rods to make the raptor pen much larger. Not really sure about the play feature, where the tower platform tips over - doesn't seem to work quite right, so I'll just mod it to be stationary. The vehicle is just a small four-wheeler, which is somewhat useful.

The figures have some good printing, and I like the JW logo on the back of the vet. Unless he turns out to be a character from the movie, I'm gonna swap out his silly looking hair for something better. The raptors are the main draw and are solid and well done. I don't have any of the previous dino figures, so I'm excited about getting a second shot at some of the them.

Definitely feels like a good set, especially if you have the parts and plans to expand it. I still plan on getting Raptor Rampage despite owning this set.

I would imagine Raptor Escape would be the better choice if getting two velociraptors is the main goal. If you buy both raptor sets, you will end up with four unique raptor prints. Apparently they have names: Charlie, Delta, Echo, and Blue. It will be interesting to see what their role in the movie is. Judging by the trailer, it appears that they might actually assist the humans in tracking down escaped dinos.

We still have the Raptor Rampage set coming, which might or might not come with Owen. And since the game is coming out there is a small chance maybe we get another wave or so (Didn't the Indiana Jones Waves do this, or even the Harry Potter/pirates of the C. Waves? (Only one movie, movie sets come out, followed by prequel sets))

There were four waves of sets released over a two-year period for Indiana Jones. The initial (launch) wave was all "classic" material (which naturally meant mostly stuff from Raiders of the Lost Ark - three sets from that, plus one small one from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). The second wave was a "new movie release" wave entirely devoted to the new movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, with five retail sets (one of which was a vendor exclusive). The third wave, for winter 2009 (available late 2008), was a refresh wave of just two sets, one from Raiders and the other from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The final wave, from summer 2009, was an appropriately big finish - five sets, making it the largest wave yet (by a very slight margin over the previous year's new movie wave), as well as the most diverse, with at least one set for each movie (and the two least-represented movies getting the most / largest sets).

The total breakdown by number and total price of sets per movie (retail-only, so excluding things like a Brickmaster set, convention promos, etc., which were also done; these are listed by release order of the movies):

Raiders of the Lost Ark: five sets, $171 USD

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: two sets, $120

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: three sets, $100

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: six sets, $220

Sixteen retail sets in total, with a combined US price of $611, released across 2008 and 2009.

On the other hand, Pirates of the Caribbean received nearly all its boxed retail sets in a single huge wave, and then got one additional boxed retail set some months later. The only way in which the theme was presented like the Indiana Jones theme is that the launch was timed to capitalize on the release of the fourth movie in an established franchise for which LEGO hadn't done sets before. The initial wave was huge, much larger than any one Indy wave but smaller than the whole theme, and combined (mostly) sets from the new movie with a few sets from the previous three right off the bat. They then followed that wave with a single set of the Black Pearl - a franchise-central vessel that appears throughout the movies, though the set (with its minifigure complement) specifically reflected the second movie.

As with the Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean themes, the current Jurassic World theme is timed to take advantage of the fourth film in a long-extant franchise, but otherwise it mostly differs from those in key ways. For one thing, they actually did have a Jurassic Park theme before, back in the early 2000s - a very small one of just a couple sets, true, and not even as a true theme of its own but rather a subtheme of LEGO Studios, but they did have it. Also, the umbrella title of the overall theme is different ("Jurassic World" rather than "Jurassic Park"). Each of the three themes is being handled totally differently, perhaps partly because of the differing ages of the film franchises - Jurassic Park as a film franchise is roughly a decade younger than Indiana Jones, but a decade older than Pirates of the Caribbean - or perhaps because of the different circumstances around each license (Indiana Jones was another license from their biggest licensing partner Lucasfilm, Jurassic World is the revival of a theme they'd done more than a decade earlier, etc.).

In other words, they're approaching Jurassic Park / Jurassic World differently from how they've handled those other themes, so there's just no telling from them what they might do with this one in the future. Anything is possible (and "anything" could turn out to be nothing at all).

Also, in the movie description

it says that Owen (Chris Pratt) conducts behavioral research on the Raptor Pack.

Is JW LEGO selling well around people? :classic:

I just came back from the Lego store and the JW section was wiped clean save for the Dilophosaurus set. I was able to pick up the last T Rex set they had (they did not have anymore JW in the stockroom until the next shipment). The employee confirmed that the sets have been well received. Also, a few weeks ago, my other local Lego store had signs limiting one of each set per customer purchase.

That's fantastic news - really happy to hear it is being received so well as a line! Thanks for sharing with us buddy, really appreciate it. :classic:

If you don't mind, that would be great.

Dilophosaurus Ambush - The Dilophosaurus is a very nice Dinosaur, although is very reminiscent to the Raptors apart from some slight distinctions. The Gyrosphere is an extremely nice piece and is setting up to be a staple of Jurassic World, so it is definitely nice to have that. The Jeep is very nice too, with a lot of nice functionality packed into the design and a good sense of scale to it - this is easily my favorite vehicle from the first wave. The figure of Gray has very nice printing, and the ACU trooper is nice, although this is the only ACU trooper to not contain a vest, which makes him look odd with the others. Overall, a nice set if you want a jeep but would have maybe benefitted from another figure.

Raptor Escape - The Raptors in this set are my favorite two, with really nice printing on them which makes both distinctive and really, really fun to have. Plus, here you get two Dinos, allowing for more versatility in terms of setups. The ATV is a nice vehicle, although slightly large, and both Barry and the Vet receive fantastic quality printing which really brings their characters to life - plus, Barry appears to be fairly important in the film, perhaps more so than Gray. The Pen, although barebones, is very nice, with a lot of functionality packed into the design, and a lot of nice features for the size. The aesthetics here are nice to and it really feels like an awesome little pen for the Raptors. Plus, if you purchase Raptor Rampage in the future, the pen can hold all four.

The win here really is Raptor Escape in my eyes. Although more expensive, it is a much better set and offers you a fantastic structure to expand your Jurassic World setup with. Hope that helps. :classic:

Also - a happy person! I preordered my copy of LEGO Jurassic World from GAME and got the Galimimus edition, so I'll soon have a complete JW collection apart from the standalone Dr Wu polybag. Hope TRU UK starts selling the Galimimus too - I'd army build!

Thanks. I was kind of leaning towards getting Raptor Escape due to it being only $10 more, a bigger build and another Dino.

Also, has there been any word on whether or not the Galimimus Trap will be available at TRU? I read on the Brick Fan that it was available at TRU Canada bit they never followed up on it.

No worries man - hope you like it if you decide to get it. :classic: As far as I am aware, there isn't any official word on it. I contacted TRU regarding release in the UK a while back and they said it wasn't really available in the UK at that point. I guess it may be a waiting game like with Marvel's SDCC Rocket Raccoon. If I find any and you are having trouble finding them, let me know. :classic:

Does anyone think we could see more Polybags for JW? :classic:

Hope you don't mind me getting in early, but if you do end up finding any in the future, I'd gladly take one off your hands  . This Gallimimus polybag has proven a real pain to find for a good price, even my usual method for hard to obtain polys, making a wanted post in Brickset's Forum marketplace, has failed me. I would pre-order the Gallimimus edition, but given it's more expensive than the standard game and I have no need for the game, it's too much hassle for me. Plus, if they did ever arrive at UK TRU, my local would fail me too as I have never seen them stock polybags, not even Rocket Raccoon

Maybe an ACU polybag? Like the Hawkeye with weapons rack from the First Avengers Movie?

Or a miniscale Jurassic World 4x4?

Huh, that's weird. I went into a Toys R Us a few days ago and they had Rocket Raccoon and a Hero Factory Mini Robot.

I ended up getting Rocket from the TRU stand at Brick 2014, so I don't need one, but thanks for offering anyway :classic: I was just saying I'd never seen it in my local TRU, despite the fact it's LEGO section is enormous...

It's ironic to think that I've had more luck finding polybags in temporary TRU's that no longer exist
