mediumsnowman Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I hope they make the petting zoo as a set I want the baby triceratops in that set! Quote

Quicksilver Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm pretty sure that Jurassic Park will continue as sets. I mean, they don't have LotR/Hobbit or The LEGO Movie like last year. The only MAIN ones left are Marvel DC and Star Wars and most of them are now solely based on new movies and spoilers don't allow for much promoting. Plus since the movie made $511.8 Million In One Weekend, it proves that there is a gargantuan sized market for Jurassic World/Jurassic Park merchandise. But in all seriousness, why didn't they do a $150ish set with the mosasaurs? He was the best part of the movie! Quote
Captain Nemo Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Plus since the movie made $511.8 Million In One Weekend, it proves that there is a gargantuan sized market for Jurassic World/Jurassic Park merchandise. But in all seriousness, why didn't they do a $150ish set with the mosasaurs? He was the best part of the movie! Most likely because people already are upset about spending so much on these sets, where most of the money goes towards the Dino molds and not much else. A Mosasaurs set? What would be in it--really. I mean the dino which would be huge, and take a chunk out of the set, but with that would most likely be some stadium stands poorly built and a tiny shark. Granted...that would still be a cool set... Kraby Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) I can't see a mosasaurus happening. He's juste way too big. I'm fine with lego scaling down builds and/or animals/monsters, but in this case, since we already have other dinosaurs to compare him to, scaling the mosasaurus down to a feasible size would make him look weird next to the T-Rex or Indominus. On a side note, I'm actually quite happy with the sets after seeing the movie (except for the vehicle in T-Rex tracker, but that already seemed obvious). About the movie itself, I have quite mixed feelings... The nostalgia effect was good, the easter eggs to the first movie too, but overall the story seemed a bit (a lot?) stretched... What I'm really afraid of is Dr Wu escaping with all the Indominus embryos, as it opens the door to a tragic sequel with an army of Indominus, raised in a secret plac,e which then escape to bring terror to Los Angeles or whatever city it might be close to. I know I'm being sarcastic here, but the possibilities don't look so good. Edited June 17, 2015 by Kraby Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Like you said Dr.Wu escaping, could mean a sequel, but if there is another movie the Indominus might be Raptor sized and hunt in packs, like they talked about in Jurassic World. Quote

Indeed. doesn't look more promising to me though. Except if it means more sets and dinosaurs in lego form! Quote
TheLegoPerson9 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 So, as someone who has no plans to see the movie, is it still worth picking up 75916? Mainly want it for the jeep and the dinosaur which I think is pretty neat. I might try to modifiy or customize the jeep. Although, if I am going to get the set, it won't be for a little while. Working on some other things at the moment. Quote
mediumsnowman Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) After seeing the movie again I really wish There was a big D2C set with the pyramid lab area, a row of shops, the grandstands for the lagoon, and a Jurassic World monorail circling it. Of course it would also have the Mososaur and petting zoo area for exclusive dinosaurs. Baby triceratops! A few pterandons, civilians, scientists, ACU and an Owen/Claire variant and you have a stellar set Edited June 17, 2015 by mediumsnowman Quote

Tom Jurassic Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Heading off to TRU today to hopefully pick up a second Dilophosaurus Ambush set. Will let you guys know if I find any Galimimus polybags. Am I the only one who wants to see some generic park worker torsos, and the security guys who aren't ACU? Quote

Ardelon Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) The designers could make the Mosasaurus brick-built, or with molded jaws and a brick-built upper body. Just big enough that a LEGO shark would fit in its jaws. After all, they did a OK job with Smaug, so they could manage a Mosasaurus. Edit: Have only seen the trailers, so dont know if that would be enough for recreating the story. Edited June 18, 2015 by Ardelon Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 No polybags at UK TRU yet! I ended up buying some other stuff - gonna get my second Dilophosaurus set on sale. Quote
Darkrattyop Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 They could easily do a mosasaurus http://brickset.com/sets/6721-1/Mosasaurus Quote
Deathleech Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 They could easily do a mosasaurus http://brickset.com/...21-1/Mosasaurus The JW mosasaurus is about 20 times as big as that one though, lol. I doubt Lego will ever make one just due to the sheer size and then having to create the huge stadium around it. Smaug was enormous and ate a large chunk of that waves budget. The mosasaurus would have to be as big, or bigger. They could possibly do a brick built one, but it would look weird next to the rest of the dinos. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 To be honest, I wouldn't mind the Mosasaurus we see in the LEGO JW Game as a set. Sure, it is down-scaled, but it uses a T-Rex head and looks pretty damn good for what it's trying to represent. I could see that work. They could even add in a Dimorphadon or a variant of the Pteradon to add some action to the scene, as some ACU or Park security could be trying to shoot the Terrasaurs. Quote
Vindice Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Due to the cost of making it they would have had to have it available for the theatrical release of the film to capitalise on the advertising. I find it hard to see more sets for this theme. Quote
Kraby Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 You can't really compare Smaug to the Mosasaurus. No matter how down Smaug has been scaled, he still looks pretty damn big and threatening to everything else we have in lego form from the Hobbit, which is why he can play his part pretty well, for playability or display. But.. ..On the other hand, if you scale down the Mosasaurus to a "doable" size, something along the lines of the T-Rex or even Smaug, you completely loose the fact the he, may I remind you, ends up taking the Indominus for dinner. I know, that was my point. Smaug was huge and took up a large portion of the third Hobbit wave's budget. The mosasaurus is even bigger than him so imagine how expensive it would be. Lego would either have to put the mosasaurus in a huge $400 set to accommodate it, or shrink it down so much it's scale is off when next to the rest of the dinosaurs. Quote
strangely Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Original Jurassic Park characters coming to Lego Dimensions? Thanks to mbl_designs https://instagram.co...-by=mbl_designs That's certainly a good sign that it's Grant and Sattler that found the pieces of the portal. Those two plus the two kids are my must haves from the original movie. Hammond and Malcolm I would greatly appreciate too. I really can't see this one wave of sets being all we'll ever get. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I actually think Smaug is bigger, but Smaug and the Mosasaurus have around the same size mouth Quote
VictorFrenchFries Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 So maybe we will get sets. It's either like Portals where we won't get sets(probably) or like Doctor Who where we get him in Dimensions and then a completely new set. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I feel like the success of JW makes JP sets more likely, hopefully. Quote
