Smaug comes in right around 19 inches all stretched out, but 8 1/2 of it's from his thin long tail alone and another 5 or so is his head. I dunno if the mosasaurus would work because it is much thicker throughout it's entire body. Smaug also ate up most of the Lonely Mountain set's cost. It only had 5 minifigures and a little over 850 pieces for $130. If Lego were to do a mosasaurus set they would probably need to shrink the dino down, the stadium or brick built part of the set would be small, and the set would cost at least $130 (if not much more). Seems like a lot of compromises just to make a set for the mosasaurus that wouldn't have a ton of play features and would be weird since it's an water dino?

I figure they could do something similar to T-Rex Trapper (tracker?). Just make a set that isn't in the movie. Give us a boat that the Mosasaurus can terrorize or some such.

But yeah. Regardless, size would be a major issue with the set. There's no we're getting a Mosasaurus in scale with the I-Rex.

Y'know, unless it's USC.

Yeah I was going to say I hope the guy in the Jurassic part t shirt is not a SDCC fig but how great would that look.

Posted

Masrani I'd be fine with. Lowery, not so much. I'm hoping if there is a JW SDCC Fig, it'll be a variant like Masrani or even Claire in her dirty clothes.

I would not, however, be surprised if we got a figure like John Hammond, unfortunately. :cry_sad:

Hopefully if we do see an SDCC figure, it is a variant like you've mentioned. Throughout the Jurassic World game, there are variants of Owen, Claire, Grey, Zach and some other characters, so they could easily do that. It'd be cool if it was the variant of Owen in his white shirt from the first TV spot IMO. :classic:

Well, my local TRU got some of the "Gallimimus" Trap polybags http://brickset.com/...Gallimimus-Trap

I bought them all

Mine had a sign saying, "Free with $30 purchase. Take one at the cashier."

I went to the cashier and nothing. No Electro polybag either.

Its good I have a Gallimimus from the Gamestop promo tho, but another can't hurt right?

The dino is pretty cool, but it is rubber, which is for safety and whatnot, but it really is disappointing.

There's probably a Colin Trevorrow minifigure out there somewhere but not for SDCC.

I was listening to the Empire magazine podcast interview with the director and towards the end of the interview they asked about lego. And he said yeah I'm a minifigure in the game along with Steven and I think Frank Marshall. One of the Empire guys said and I'm paraphrasing yeah but you can't buy one like you can Chris Pratt and Trevorrow replied no lego is making me a custom one :)

I don't usually advertise LEGO Ideas projects, but I stumbled across two cool ones today that it might be worth us all supporting if we want to see more JW/JP sets. The first is this JW Gate set, which is a build from one of LEGO's animations:

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/105364

It uses a lot of assets we've seen released already, but if it got approved, hopefully that would change in the final build. The second is this modular Visitor Centre from Jurassic Park:

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/104912

Really like all the details in this one - definitely captures the building well.

Thought these'd be worth sharing with you all - I think they are very cool. :classic:

Those, especially the Visitors Center, seem to have a pretty good chance of getting picked. I'll be sure to support.

I picked up 3 Gallimimus at my TRU. They had them behind the counter at checkout but were perfectly willing to sell them. On one hand, maybe this prevents them from selling out fast which can be a a good thing. But it seems like it would sell better and people would be more tempted to try to get one free if they actually had them out on display.

Anyway I was surprised the dino is rubber as was already mentioned but he's still really nice. However I would have preferred him in a yellowish tan color like in Jurassic Park.

Does anyone know if the polybag dr. Wu is ANY different than in the I- Rex set?

He's the same. Same figure, same Amber Bug.

Posted

Yep, the Dr Wu is the same from what I am aware of, hence why I opted to get the Galimimus version of the game instead! I would not mind a few more generic Scientists to accompany him at some point. Can anyone recommend any torsos? Also, anyone have any ideas how to create a generic JW worker so my ACU aren't doing all the tasks? :classic:

The LEGO Ideas Research Institute. Three scientists and some appropriate accessories.

I've looked for that and couldn't find it for sale over here! I really wanted it for the Paleontologist with the fossilized Skeleton :sceptic:

I'd either go with the female scientist from the CUUSOO/LEGO Ideas set or the one from the CMF (Series 11).

There also the one (it looks like all scientist minifigs are female...) from the new Space Port theme but you can see some yellow flesh... but maybe that's not a big deal for you.

You could use the garbagemen from 70805 or the new worker torsos from Space Port (again  ) or from the 2015 Construction sets. There's also the one from 10219 but once again, you can see some yellow flesh:

The scientists from the new space port sets have printing on their backs with a picture of the shuttle. I also needed a bunch of scientists for something I'm building in the future. What I have done is 1: took my time and have gotten a BUNCH of the female CMF scientists off of eBay for some pretty good deals. 2 : if you go to BnP and put in the scientists ideas set you can get a bunch of scientist torsos. Those two things are what I have done, and I'm pretty sure I have too many female scientists, just the way I like it! :)

Ah shoot. I only saw the front of that torso on the promo pics. Well I guess you can forget about that one then.

Thanks for all the assistance guys - I really appreciate you taking the time to help! Anyone working on any Jurassic World MOCs? :classic:

Glad I could help.

I am actually. I'm trying to make some movie-accurate vehicles based on some of the City builds. I finished the regular 4x4 and I'm almost done with the Unimog, now I might try to make the 6x6 and the Sprinter.

Still working with LDD for now (I might post pictures when I'm done) but I'm definitely going to build them once I get all the pieces I need.
