Kalhiki Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Y'know people have said that the sets have been selling well, but I haven't realized until just today. I was at the Lego Store, and one of the workers said something about not having them anymore (I don't know if they're not carrying them, or what he said exactly. Anyway...) because they've been having such a hard time keeping the shelves stocked. Apparently they're selling out faster than they can restock. So yeah, it'd be really sad not to see a wave 2 considering the huge success of the line. Quote

So yeah, it'd be really sad not to see a wave 2 considering the huge success of the line. I'm not surprised. Kids love dinosaurs and the movie base only adds interest, especially with probably older kids who wouldn't normally buy just for a dinosaur. Of course, this is coming from someone who bought the Adventuers Dino line fervently, multiples of the cheapest set from Dino Attack, and the only thing that held me back rrom the Dino Defense HQ in 2010 was a funding deficit. My main curiosity at this point is if we see another wave, what will it look like? Will there be more Jurassic World-inspired material, a focus on the original JP1 film, a mixture of all film, maybe more semi-original items like T-Rex Tracker? Will there be new dinosaurs or more of the previous ones? New colors? Quote

I feel like LEGO would be silly to not do more sets at this point. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Has anyone tried modding any of the sets or anything yet? I tried modding the Dilophosaurus Ambush set so that it had two lights where the flickfires were and it looks pretty cool. It's not really a MOD, but I made a Classic Space base from set 75919: Indominus Rex Breakout. I also did two Classic Space Jeeps from set 75916: Dilophosaurus Ambush. Do these count? It's strange that they may not produce more units of this set as the demand is still high. My local Lego store is wiped out of sets and won't be replenishing stock for another 2 weeks. Quote
knight_40k Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 It's funny to see so many of you are reporting these sets are selling out everywhere. At my local Lego store they always have them well stocked, even my local TRU has several available. The only set I haven't been able to find anywhere is the gallimimus trap polybag. Quote

Where did you get the instructions to make the in-game models, and could you share them? Thanks! I didn't use instructions. I just saw the cars in the videogame and made "reverse engineering". It's very easy because the models in the videogame doesn't have illegal techniques (at least, nothing weird). I found images from the cars here: http://www.igcd.net/...1333&width=1920 Now I need to do the same thing... LEGO is costing me a lot this year :). I still have to buy the Antman set and the T-Rex set. Then, in September, all the Star Wars stuff. Edited July 13, 2015 by hachiroku Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Jurassic World 2 is set for a release date of June 22, 2018. We have to wait three more years, but we can expect some sets for these. Quote

Quicksilver Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I bricklinked the Jurassic park's cars from the videogame. they are cool models: Wow. Those are sweet looking. And ridiculously accurate. Quote
Fire spray 31 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I can't believe how fast all of the sets are sold out. It took only 2 months. I hope Lego sees this as a reason to make another wave. I have personally scoured every store in my area for the Indominus Rex and luckily have one I have on hold I am picking up tomorrow. Aside from that I was gonna pick up the Raptor Escape which I ended up having to bricklink for 20$ over the price because they are flat out gone! And by the looks of it 60$ is the lowest it is going for. Quote
HawkLord Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Now that JW has become the third biggest selling movie of all time, I'm sure Lego is going to working on a lot more for JW2 in 2018. That movie will be huge and Lego won't want to let that contract go. I'm not sure if they can scramble and get a wave two out for this movie, but I certainly hope so. I'd even take some repaints at this point. Quote

TheLazyChicken Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I'm hoping for a second wave at the beginning of 2016, they're releasing more Frozen sets and that movie was out in 2013 (?). I don't see why they wouldn't make a second wave. Quote
JVM Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 If there's a second wave, here's hoping we see Triceratops if nothing else. I'm still working on acquiring these but I honestly didn't have much money set aside for this summer. I have the Dilo Ambush and T. Rex Tracker and I'd still like virtually everything else... Quote
Shib Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 They could potentially do a Jurassic Park sub theme (as in based on the first three films) between now and the release of Jurassic World 2 if they think there is still good demand for more sets. Quote
Sir Gareth Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 The Raptor Escape went from "Sold Out" to "Out of Stock, expected ship date Aug 10 2015" on Shop@Home. Quote
Banjo Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I bought the JW sets recently, but before I'd seen the movie. After finally seeing it though, I now have to say I'm unusually disappointed with the Lego sets here. With every other licensed set I've bought (Star Wars, LOTR, etc.), I've not felt the same level of "that seems rushed/lackluster" that I do with these and I can't help but wonder why. The dinos are great, but the minifig selection is IMO shockingly terrible: no Zara, no Lowery, no Vivian, no Nick the security guard even! Yet we get several unnamed "vets" who have nothing to do with the actual movie?! A "T-Rex Tracker" that belongs in the previous Dino line and again is totally unrelated to this film? A JP1 style Jeep in the wrong colours? A Dilophosaurus also totally absent (okay, I'm not complaining there really, since it's my favourite figure of the sets). :( For all these odd inaccuracies, I can only assume Lego actually had to work off concept art and maybe a rough script this time rather than the actual movie (the fact the iRex is white, as dialog indicates in the movie but far more "grey" in the actual movie, is a big pointer to this). Sure, I'd have loved a "Mosasaurus Arena" set too, but even just the sets we got could be more accurate with no change in size/cost. Give us an alternate Claire without her jacket on (pink tank top) instead of the nameless "vet" with the flare in the T-Rex Tracker set, and replace the silly big vehicle with the ACU troop truck and/or Claire's Mercedes 4WD from the actual movie. Give us that hapless security guard (Nick) who got eaten instead of another "vet" in the iRex Breakout set and/or Lowery. Make the JP1 Jeep the correct colours! Put a beanie on the nameless guy in the raptor pen set and make it the "rookie" guy who nearly got eaten... or give us Hoskins in THAT set (more appropriate) and use his spot in the T-Rex set for a Lowery or Vivian minifig. Lego is usually so fantastic with getting things right and quality control that such inaccuracies here in a big, brand new license just seems disappointing to me. I'm genuinely interested in the story behind why this is the case, especially the generic minifigs. Heck, even the polybag for this theme is glaringly wrong (that's not a Gallimimus by any stretch of imagination). I bricklinked the Jurassic park's cars from the videogame. they are cool models: I would LOVE the instructions or even LDD files to Bricklink and build these myself! I actually bought myself the Lego JW game and the whole time couldn't stop thinking how much I wanted to build that JP1 Responder or JP2 Hunter! In fact, so many of those "models" in the game had me thinking "I'd buy that for real in a heartbeat", especially the vehicles and awesomely "Lego-accurate" dinos like the Gallimimus, Stego and Pachy! Lego, why can't I give you money for those figures? :( Quote
HawkLord Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Granted, I feel like the JW sets are underwhelming, I also feel like Lego was trying to make the best of the situation. They had Dino molds to use, so that worked here and they probably didn't know what people would gravitate towards in terms of other products, hence the vehicles. You could kind of say the same thing for the Hasbro JW toy line, which features no humans (except one generic). Maybe companies didn't know what to do with a franchise like this since it had been so long since the last JP movie. And obviously no one could have predicted the movie would do so well. Quote

Was the movie not expected to be a success? That surprises me to hear! I went in thinking it was a "given" that a new JP movie after all these years would do at least quite well? No? Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled to have more Lego dinosaurs... although I'm only recently getting back into Lego "big time" now, I did get the Dino sets when they came out (wish I'd bought more than one of each now, but I didn't know how Lego "worked" back then in retiring sets so fast!) and loved them... they reminded me of my childhood playing with Dino Riders toys! I just find the disconnect between the Lego JW sets and the actual film content genuinely strange, given that I can get a wonderfully source-accurate yet still kid-friendly Mos Eisley Cantina, Slave I, or even Arkham Asylum! Given what you said about the non-Lego toyline, I wonder if ANYONE making JW toys got to see the film in advance, or had to rely on the obvious ("it will have Chris Pratt on a motorcycle, 2 kids in a sphere, and the following dinosaurs...") to design their products? That would make sense as to why many characters are missing from the Lego sets and several vehicles are based on "creative license" to say the least. :) Edited July 31, 2015 by Banjo Quote
