Emjajoas Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 "He's just... logical. You can trust him not to betray us, at least." Mortimer glances at the automaton. Was he giving Jeaux too much credit? Sighing, he turns back to Alice. "I trust him. I've traveled with him often." Quote

Emjajoas Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) OOC: We kicked some megablocks, and after that we found a girl named Alice whose sister was turned into a Canvas by Seerus. She was poisoned, we healed her, and now she wants to come with us and help us out. Edited September 2, 2014 by Emjajoas Quote
Endgame Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) "I am only looking to maximize our chances of success, but if our party leader believes you to be a useful asset, than I will defer to his judgement." Jeaux took a closer look at the toxic substance from the trees, "We may be able to utilize this venom to help in our fight ahead." Jeaux bottles up what he can, finding: Venom x5 "Hmph. I still don't trust you fully. At least the rest of you seem reliable..." The party forges into the door, reading an insciprtion on the arch: "Observatory Tower" The party steps inside the tower, and find themselves in a rather surreal location. It was the foyer of the tower. There are three doors: one to the North, one to the East, and one to the West. The sounds of metal clanging is heard from the East. The dark, oppresive walls of the tower almost seem to be closing in on the heroes, but the place manages to be somewhat tranquil, in away. Two globes seem to contain an eerie nebula, seemingly entire constellations held inside them. If the party didn't know any better, they would think looking into the globes was like staring into the night sky. "It's... Almost pretty, in a way." What will the party do? The_Customizer Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 "I agree, we should probably look for things in the opposite direction of the clanging, then we can come back and check that out. Lets go West." Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 "West it is, then," Mortimer mutters, heading in that direction. Quote

Endgame Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Johon examines the nebulae, particularly the pink dot in the right container. The pink dot appeared to be a particularly large star in the model galaxy. Coming to a consensus, the party heads to the West, walking through a door into a library devoted to astrology and astronomy. The shelves were barbed and gnarled, the books ordered meticulously without a single page out of place. Additionally, there is another occupant in the room... "...Eh?" A disciple of mastermind Iris. "Heroes... Here...? I... I must report to Mistress Iris, or... she'll feed me to Alatreon for sure..." Realizing she is outnumbered, the white Oculoid flees from the scene, seeping through the ceiling to escape. Leaving the heroes alone in the library... What will the party do? Emjajoas Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Mortimer's previously grumpy face contorts into a toothy grin. He clenches and unclenches his fists, his smile widening. "Iris," he purrs. "There's a name I was hoping to hear. I would have liked to send a message to her, though. Poor oculoid left before I could socialize." Moving towards what looked like some sort of desk, Mortimer inspects it. Quote
Kintobor Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Karie looks confused as the Oculoid vanishes. "I thought we were hunting Seeurs? Who's this Iris?" She looks to the rest of the party for an answer. In the meantime, she inspects the books on the shelves. Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 "If Seerus is the Regret's right hand man," Mortimer explains, his grin still present. "Iris is his left. She creates her own brand of Oculoids, the Disciples of Iris. She turned Jetorix into a devil, and terrorized the Progg city. I was forgiving at the time and thought perhaps if we let her live we could use her, but..." Grinding his teeth despite not losing the grin, Mortimer focuses on inspecting the desk instead of continuing. Quote
Zepher Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 "You're very generous when it comes to sparing people, Em. I'm glad to see that you're at least cleaning up some of the messes you left behind." Boomingham winks kindly at his friend. "We won't be leaving Iris alive this time around, I promise you. Hand to the Gods. Really, if, as they say, all these things are an extension of the Regret, none of them can be left behind when we're through." "Mortimor wasn't such a long winded talker the last time we saw him," remarks Barty in Boomingham's ear. "Guess he took after you." "What do the books say, Karie? Anything good?" he calls over his shoulder. Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 "I thought perhaps with the title of hero I could wash some of the blood off my hands," Mortimer shrugs, leaving the remark hanging. Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 "Iris, oh, yeah, I remember her, she fell quite quickly. Looking forward to doing that again!" Erdathcath examines the library to see if she can find anything. Quote
Endgame Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Mortimer's previously grumpy face contorts into a toothy grin. He clenches and unclenches his fists, his smile widening. "Iris," he purrs. "There's a name I was hoping to hear. I would have liked to send a message to her, though. Poor oculoid left before I could socialize." Moving towards what looked like some sort of desk, Mortimer inspects it. On the desk is a rather heavy tome: Collection of Constellations: A Guide to the Shapes of the Stars Would Em take the book? Karie looks confused as the Oculoid vanishes. "I thought we were hunting Seeurs? Who's this Iris?" She looks to the rest of the party for an answer. In the meantime, she inspects the books on the shelves. Karie scans the myriad shelves of the observatory, each book unsurprisingly devoted to astrology and astronomy. Many of the books claims outright contradicted themselkves, The Regret apparently not having any specific opinion - he was just amassing and catalogging as much information as he possibly could. One book lies out of alphabetical order: A journal of sorts...? "Iris, oh, yeah, I remember her, she fell quite quickly. Looking forward to doing that again!" Erdathcath examines the library to see if she can find anything. The others, already hard at work with everything else, leaves Erdathcath to inspect the odd lights. A few pokes makes Erdathcath realize they were somehow emitting coldness, not heat - or rather, draining the heat from the room. Perhaps that's why it was so chilly, even in here... "I'm guessing Iris is weaker than Seerus, then, right?" Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Mortimer picks up the book, rifling through it quickly. "Iris was probably weeker than Seerus. I don't know about now. Who knows what they've done with her. Plus, I'm not sure what that Alatreon the Oculoid mentioned was. Hmm." Quote
Kintobor Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Karie carefully yanks the journal out from the shelf and opens it. "Even though I have a feeling this book's the Regret's, I really don't want it too." Quote

Endgame Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) QM Note: ...And it looks like me talking about it immediately brought the site back up. Em opens up the astronomy tomes, sifting through the various constellations inked on its pages. ---------------------------------- Most Noble Of Steeds Eye Of Etheris Zoot's Pentagram Danab's Ladle The Pincer Celestial Shield Great Dragon --------------------------------------------------- "That last one reminds me of my homeland..." Karie carefully yanks the journal out from the shelf and opens it. "Even though I have a feeling this book's the Regret's, I really don't want it too." Karie reads the journal. Writing this journal is likely a mistake. Seerus will likely find it and destroy it, not to mention reprimand me for it, but... I can't believe how far I've fallen... Just one screw up, one loss to those damn Heroicans in the Progg Colony, and look at me... Afraid to do anything that isn't work. Afraid Seerus will find this journal, tear it to shreds, and beat me like he normally does, like the bastard he is. To think he's technically my "husband," according to The Regret. The Regret is my master. I cannot deny that - a most wonderful one. But Seerus... Why? I am his equal! Yet he does nothing but abuse me, torture me, treats me like a slave! Says it's "for the best of the oculoids" and that "If you consider the Oculoids your children, you're going to have to do a hell of a lot better than what you're doing." Guilt trips me for his own atrocities. Bastard! ...I'll have to hide this journal, somehwere where Seerus won't find it... Who wrote this...? With the astronomical library cleared out, would the party proceed to the North or East wing of the Astronomy Tower? Edited September 5, 2014 by Endgame Quote
