Kintobor Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 "Em, Johon, will you both stand down!" Karie yelled desperately. "Gods be damned, allow me to explain some things! Em, Mortimer, I don't care at the moment, you're going to lose not only your eye but your arm if you decide to use that damn thing. There's an answer to this, but we've got to consider our options here. Johon... the Harvester originally was used by Masson. His nephew shared the same blood as him, so..." Karie cuts herself short, not wanting to go into detail, "Honestly, their both tripping me out. Both of them are acting like the man I know, but on completely different levels. We can run the possibility of two fakes, but... Both of you. I want you to describe the past twenty four hours. Now." A flame of intensity lit up in Karie's eyes, tears trying not to swell. Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 "If two fakes is the worst outcome you can think of," shrugs Mortimer, lowering his bow. "You ought to remember: both could be very, very real." Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 "The occuloids already demonstrated the ability to access a persons memories and with those memories, there is no reason one of them could not imitate the actions of another person exactly. Given our current circumstances, it would be unwise to trust either of them." Quote
Bricksandparts Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 "What will reveal their true nature is their actions, not their memories." Quote
Endgame Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 "I know how the Harvester worked because I originally made it... The Regret stole the designs from my mind. It was a... darker time, in my life." "Careful! They could both be imposters," Mortimer mutters. "I saw the other me change right in front of my eyes." "I saw you do the same thing. Don't think you can keep that lie up." "Em, Johon, will you both stand down!" Karie yelled desperately. "Gods be damned, allow me to explain some things! "Well, we woke up together in bed as The Regret knocked at the door." "We fought an Ameoboss on the deck of the Excelsus." "We reached the island, and met with a man named Knox." "We then went into the abadnoned village, and conversed with Daranza." "After that, we battled Seerus, and, well... I got captured." "Heroes, Karie, please... I'm the man you come onto this damned island with - and for Karie, the man you married. Trust me, please." Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) "Cut your palm." Mortimer keeps his bow firmly grasped in his hand, though aimed towards the ground.Glancing between the two Massons, he repeats himself. "Cut your hand, finger, arm, whatever. Bleed to prove your innocence. You can be healed afterwards." Edited September 7, 2014 by Emjajoas Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 "Em, I don't think that will matter. If the oculoid, or shapeshifter is truly capable of everything we've seen here, I'm pretty sure he can duplicate his blood as well. Though it guess it is worth a try." Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 "Their reactions are just as important as their blood," Mortimer mutters. "I'm at a bit of a loss, though purple seems to be the most accurate from what I've known." Shaking his head, he continues, voice low. "I'm not really sure what to think, though-- I'd imagine Seerus would tear apart Masson's soul, placing tiny bits into various Devil bodies. Each would represent a part of the whole, which is why everyone is confused and also why each would think they're real." Quote

We know that Doppel's can read personalities and physical traits, but not minds. Only Oculoids can do that. So... if... M-masson's been... mind read... then technically both individuals here could be fakes." Karie began feeling disheartened about the prospects of seeing Masson again. Why couldn't it of been Lawrence, that good for nothing hypocrite? Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Mortimer frowns slightly, letting out a little sigh. "I'm-- I could be wrong. Just... trust your heart or something." Meanwhile, Mortimer keeps a close eye on the Massons, waiting for them to expose their hands to comply to his request, paying extra attention to said hands. Edited September 7, 2014 by Emjajoas Quote

Endgame Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Masson walks close to the party. "Please, we don't need to do thi-" The other Masson steps behind his look-a-like, and grazes the other's shoulder with his blade, the wound leaking ink. Masson quickly thrusts his sword into his look-a-like, black blood spurting out as he did so. With a motion upwards, he rends the duplicate in half, destroying it. "Can you trust me now?" Says the remaining Masson. Punii whispers. "Well... Can we? I guess the two *wheeze* big questions are: Do we think Seerus would be careless enough to let Masson go away, and would of The Regret's minions destroy another just to *cough* deceive us?" Endgame Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 "Cut. Your. Palm." Mortimer commands, glaring at the remaining Masson. Masson hesistates a bit, before gingerly slicing his palms - black ink coming out. "Go ahead. Kill me. It was a nice try, though, wasn't it?" Quote
Kintobor Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Karie grips Sexy's hilt tightly. She shook her head and grimly laughed for a brief moment. She walked away from everything. She let go of Sexy's hilt, and walks to the door, staring at it. "Someone besides L-lawrence. Someone besides that fat, graceless oaf do it." Quote
Endgame Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) "You're too afraid to see your husband mowed down by Boomingham, even though I'm a fake. Remind me too much of him? Please, Lawrence, do the deed. Stab me and kill me." Edited September 9, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Bricksandparts Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Sheathing his sword, Johon approaches. "Put away your weapon, fiend." Johon says, walking closer, preparing for a one on one fight. "You and me..." Johon says, waiting to see if the Oculoid would fight with or without a weapon before calculating his strike. Quote
Endgame Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 "You're interested ina fight, really? Is this a fantasy of yours?" Quote
Kintobor Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Karie interrupts both of them and stabs the Oculoid in the gut with her Heirloom Dagger. She stabs it in the gut again. And again. And again. She cared not for whatever would get over her. She just wanted this thing to shut up and leave her. She wanted this mockery dead, and she'd keep striking it until it was. "I! HAVE HAD ENOUGH! OF YOUR GAMES!" Tears swelled in her eyes as she jabbed away at the thing that was posing as her husband. At what she hoped he still looked like. Endgame Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 "..." Alice stares, wide eyed, at the scene before her. The other masson's death is rather prolonged. While he killed his counterpart with a swift, upwards slash, karie instead opts for a more furious option, stabbing him repeatedly in the gut. Ink spurts out, staining Karie's outfit, mixing with her makeup and cuasing it ro run and bleed. The shredded Doppel speaks in between gasps of breaths, its midsection now practically nonexistent from karie's stabbing. "Reminds... me of the night we spent after watching the... Dream Oath, but with more... knives. The Regret has made you so... Strong... But you are still... So very weak..." The Doppel dissapates with one final stab, reduced to mere ink. All that remained in the room where the Doppels' remains and an odd telescope device. Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Mortimer frowns, placing a hand on Alice's shoulder before moving on to inspect the device. Quote
