Kintobor Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 "I'm sorry," Boomingham says quietly to Karie as he sheaths his blade again. "I wasn't sure if it was him or not until the very end." "And just what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Karie still held onto her dagger, cover head to toe in black ink. Her makeup was either running or splotched in black, as tears flowed from her eyes. Her eyes weren't sorrowful though. They were filled with anger, hatred. "Don't think your going to get out of this with your passive aggressive nonsense! Stop being a coward and give it to me straight instead of cowering behind your petty words!" Quote
Zepher Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 "I didn't want to strike down the real one. Not here. This isn't the place for that." Boomingham sighs. "That's all I meant by that. I wish I could have spared you killing that imposter, at least." He spits on the corpse drenched in black ink. "Damn impostors. Despicable creatures." Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Erdathcath watches Karie stab the impostor, not at all surprised. This was after all, the very thing she felt, she puts her handcannon back, it wasn't needed for now. "Karie, I really don't blame you, in fact, I applaud you. if you, and the rest of us continue on acting as such, the Regret will die just that much faster. And I mean that, I truly do. When I first started these quests I had some slight pity for the creatures who were simply slaves, however, fighting the Regret's forces as taught me one thing, pity is useless, peace is impossible, and death is inevitable." I wish I could have spared you killing that imposter, at least." He spits on the corpse drenched in black ink. "Damn impostors. Despicable creatures." "You... Want to hurt the real Masson?" Em and Johon inspect the odd telescope. They find that it is not, in fact, boobytrapped, but has several odd traits nonetheless. The lens was made of a unique glass, far different from those of the Soul and Spirits Glasses... And it was mobile. Tiny treads on the bottom of the podium allow the fixture to move with ease. Quote
Zepher Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 "Not in this Citadel, I don't. Masson and myself will both be getting out of here alive. After that, we'll see what happens." Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 "It's complicated," Mortimer interjects. "And it needs to wait." Glancing between the party members, he sighs and turns his attention back to the telescope. He wheels it back to the center room, beckoning the party to follow. Quote
Endgame Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 The cart glides across the floor effortlessly, leaving the party in the foyer. The only remaining direction was North. Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Glancing at the door, Mortimer shrugs. "Everyone ready?" Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 "Since we have already explored the other two rooms, we may as well proceed onward." Jeaux tries looking through the telescope at the remaining door, to see if he can notice any traps before opening it. Quote

I wish I could have spared you killing that imposter, at least." He spits on the corpse drenched in black ink. "Damn impostors. Despicable creatures." "Thanks Lawrence, your words are so comforting." Karie was riled. "I'm sick and tired of these games. All of it." "You run into these things before?" The enemy of my enemy is my friend, Karie thought, as she questioned Lawrence's comment snappily. Karie glances at Alice, wondering about how she looked in her eyes. Erdathcath watches Karie stab the impostor, not at all surprised. This was after all, the very thing she felt, she puts her handcannon back, it wasn't needed for now. Karie glared at the half tree. "By acting how? Letting our emotions get the best of us? I slipped. I'm an emotional person, and right now my husband is being experimented on. What did the Oculoids in the crematorium say? "Once we implant your memories into these Doppels no one will be able to tell the difference?" Then again, I don't expect you to understand what with you being a tree." Karie blurts out, disgusted by the tree's megablocks backwards support. Quote

Endgame Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) Johon looks through the strange scope, pointing it around the room to see what it would reveal. Looking through the scope, Johon finds everything staggeringly bright and washed out, obscuring their surroundings. How peculiar... Wheeling the scope along, the party heads into the North End of the Observatory tower. On prominent display is a galaxy model much like the ones in the foyer, but much darker. Just from glances, the party can perceive nothing inside the nebulous orb. There is a door on the far side of the wall, with an inscription written on it. Edited September 10, 2014 by Endgame Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Jeaux moves closer to the door to read the inscription Quote
Endgame Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) Jeaux reads the inscription on the door. Since you disciples are failing to review the same information you spend most of your time cataloging, we are going to have to install competency checks not mine. Those that fail will be fed immediately to Alatreon. It pains me to do this, but at this stage we cannot tolerate any amount of shortcomings in our ranks. I hop;e you can recognize the same stars you've been sorting for years, my children. -Mastermistress Iris A soft metal plate is below the inscription, apparently for writing things on. Simply drag your finger across the plate, by the looks of things, and it would leave a mark. Edited September 10, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Bricksandparts Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Johon looks into the nebula with the special Scope. Quote
Endgame Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Johon wheels the special scope into position, placing it directly in front of the nebulous orb. He places his eye to the other end of the scope, and peers into the orb. It felt just like he was gazing into the night sky... What constellation was hidden in this celestial mess? Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 "There is definitely some significance to this constellation, any ideas as to what it might be? it seems to have far more stars than more of the other constellations... Perhaps something related to the Regret?" Quote
Kintobor Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) "I don't know about you guys, but perhaps we should rule out certain constellations. I doubt Eye of Etheris or Most Noble of Steeds is here, there's too little clustering to allow it. However..." "I do make out a potential match to the Celestial Shield constellation. They look like a match. Everyone in agreement?" Karie was anxious to move along and hopefully find Masson in one piece, although the potential for that was dwindling. Bricksandparts Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 OoC: The question is, was Endgame cruel and rotate the constellations... "That looks right. Now the question is, how can this help us..." Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Mortimer works his jaw, clenching and unclenching. "...I'll trust your judgement." He writes the words 'Celestial Shield' into the plate below with his finger. Quote
The_Customizer Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 "If we are able to figure out which constellation is located and where at in this field of stars, perhaps it creates an image for us, then again, maybe it doesn't... And I agree, it does look like the Celestial Shield" Quote
Endgame Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Mortimer glides his fingers across the plaque on the door, spelling "The Celestial Shield." With a hiss the door slides upwards, the party's passage through now assured. They pass forward and find themselves in a cylindrical room, blue torches lining the staggeringly tall walls. A darkness lies at the ceiling, perhaps from the lack of lighting, perhaps from something more sinister. A lift lies in the center of the room. Would the party prepare for the trials ahead? Bricksandparts Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Johon uses a nostrum and smelling salts hoping some enemies ahead were carrying gold "Ready?" He asks the rest of the party. Quote
