Mortimer shrugs, smearing his Deadly Venom over his Blazing Bow. He then takes a whiff of his Smelling Salts, slamming a closed fist against his shield.

"I'm ready," he mutters.

"Thanks Lawrence, your words are so comforting." Karie was riled. "I'm sick and tired of these games. All of it."

"You run into these things before?" The enemy of my enemy is my friend, Karie thought, as she questioned Lawrence's comment snappily.

Boomingham nods respectfully to Karie. "I'm not playing any games, dear. Now is not the time for lots of words, I suppose, but know this. When I say Masson will leave here alive, I am willing to die to see it done. Doesn't change my view on him or you. But know I'm with you until I'm not." He drinks a mead and nods to Em. "Your party is all chummy now, and I'm prepared to go."

Karie rolls her arms back and checks her weapons over.

"Sure, why not, let's see where this thing leads." She looks around to make sure Punii's still with them. He hadn't said anything in awhile.

"I wouldn't call all of us "chummy", but it's not as important as getting this done." Karie nodded to Lawrence. She felt more threatened by the tree now than anyone, but trusting Lawrence would be hard, especially since he still wanted Masson done in.

"I'm *wheeze* still here, Karie." chrips the young Progg, noticing Karie's look around. "Guess I've just been *cough* lost in thought."

"Here goes.. something..."

With that, the party steps onto the lift, the platform lurching to life. It glides along slick steel pillars, the platform quickly ascending up the room. It would seem fragments of a Sapphire in its frame allowed it to levitate up on a bubble of wind. Having reached the top opf the lift, the party is faced with a rather grand looking door, marked with sketches of all sorts of celestial bodies... The party throws open the door, and finds themelves in the observatory...

With a familiar face looming over them, dripping white ink. Blue torches set the mood, filling the room with a mystic glow. Behind Iris, a massive telescope stared into the heavens.

RmFiMbqs.png

"Heroes. I had hoped you wouldn't make it here... I'm sure some of you remember humiliating me, though. Vividly, I imagine. Because I remember it quite clearly."

u7CBkvss.png

"Who is this? Just some different colored knock-off of Seerus?"

The Mastermind's demeanor quickly becomes volatile.

RmFiMbqs.png

"You... You brat! I am Iris! I am Seerus' equal! Perhaps just in title now, but..."

Iris falters for a moment, before continuing.

"I'll destroy you. Especially the ones I recognize... Erdathcath, Johon, Mortimer, Jeaux... I always harbored a grude. Especially the automaton. I'll be the end of you! I swear it! I swear it..."

"Spoiled bitch," Mortimer spits. "I'm very sorry for not having ended it there-- Believe me, I truly am. Glad you're giving us a chance to fix that mistake, though."

Drawing his bow, Mortimer grins, muttering to Alice. "Yeah, that's just some bitchier knockoff of Seerus. We go way back."

"And look, Karie, no love for us." Boomingham bows to the woman oculoid. "Greetings, I am Lord Lawrence Boomingham. I'm afraid I'm a little bit behind the others as you seem to hate them and vice versa and we haven't even had the pleasure of meeting yet and learning to hate each other. Anyway, I'm going to be killing you alongside them, so I figured I might as well introduce myself, so you can curse us all equally as you perish."

"Hello Iris. I expected we would run into you again, though you seem to have recovered from your dismemberment better than I would have thought. I stand by what I said before, your life hold no significance in the events to come and while you may bear a grudge against us, I bear no ill will towards you. We have come to kill the regret. If you stand aside, then I see no reason we for us to harm you a second time." Jeaux did not think she would take him up on his offer. He could see that she was as blinded by hatred as so many others on this island, and would throw away her own life just to satisfy that emotion. It seemed prudent to at the very least offer her an alternative to avoid wasting the party's time with a potentially costly battle.

"Oh look, the person we absolutely did not expect to find...Well, just tell us your 'master plan' and then threaten to destroy us, and then we'll just clean up what is left of you. Sound fair? By the way, if you aren't equal to Seerus in power, then I can guarantee you still won't be able to defeat us, after all, we did kill Seerus, so you won't be much harder."

Karie decided to stay quiet. There was enough jibber jabber in the room to compete with. Folding her arms, she waited near the back and examined the telescope from a distance, not wanting to anger the Oculoid.

"At last, some manners. It's a shame you're hardly any different from the rest... New faces are always welcome though. Always a pleasure to meet a new breed of prey, so to speak. I'll have to kill you too. I... I'll have to try..."

"You bother me most, automaton. How did an emotionless machine manage to humiliate me so utterly? You are a claculator with limbs! How you managed to bother me so much, how you managed to get under my skin and had your hand in mortifying me... All while you're just a talking doll! No emotions, no past, no memories. And yet, you somehow humiliaited me. I hate you for that, more than your human companions."

It seems Iris' grudge was transfixed on Jeaux. It appears his lack of emotions, while still managing to indrecitly mortify Iris, spawned a hatred.

RmFiMbqs.png

"You didn't kill Seerus. He decieved you and kidnapped one of your team mates! Sorry, darling, but Seerus is alive and well. Your party has been trying to hunt him down since your encounter with him, even!

I... Have no master plan, to be honest. I have to kill you for my Master. That is... That's as far as my schemes go. It's do or die for me here, heroes, sink or swim..."

Once again, iris psyched herself out. It seems Seerus' abuse had gotten to her.

Karie decided to stay quiet. There was enough jibber jabber in the room to compete with. Folding her arms, she waited near the back and examined the telescope from a distance, not wanting to anger the Oculoid.

The telescope was ratherg rand, peering out an open window. It was on a flexible pivot, allowing it to look up and down. Snow poure din from the gap in the wall, making the observatory almost unbearably chilly.

RmFiMbqs.png

"Speaking of Seerus' captive, he was practically begging to see you again, redhead. It was almost touching, in a way."

"Speaking of Seerus' captive, he was practically begging to see you again, redhead. It was almost touching, in a way."

Karie irritatingly sneers. He could hold his own... she knew he could.

"Funny how you bring him up. Not my hubby, but yours." She puts her arms out and spins around so Iris can see the amount of ink drenched to her skin. She felt cold with the frigid air blowing in and the ink staining her.

"This whole mess: one of your minio-er, I mean children. If you consider the Oculoids your children, you're going to have to do a hell of a lot better than what you're doing." Karie was hoping to strike a nerve with the Oculoid Amalgam; hoping she'd understand what she was referring to.

"This is getting tiresome. If you are indeed weaker than Severus, I can promise you that your jabs at our morale are equally misplaced. We know that you have Masson, and we know that we'll have to kill a lot of you to get him back and kill the Regret. We know that we'll be able to do it, so really it's not swaying us much this way or that if you chaps keep bringing it up. The situation in this room hasn't changed. You haven't given us anything new to feel bad or good about, and I think," Boomingham glances around at his compatriots for confirmation, "that we were killing you whatever you said once we stepped in here, so really, what game are we playing? Don't be mistaken, I love games, but I'd at least like to know what can be lost and won. Right now this seems like spinning in boring ol' circles while you wait to die."

"Is this what you really want? Dying in the name of your masters whom you hate?"

RmFiMbqs.png

"I hate Seerus. But The Regret? No. I do not hate him. I regard him with... almost fanatacism, in a way. he is my deity, and I take great joy in obeying him. But Seerus... I hate that bastard."

"You're... using their limbs as weapons? What is wrong with you?! I know... I know I am not their mother, I know they will enver call themselves my children... But you think you can just get away with that?

Like you're doing any good for your family olbigations, you urchin. Your husband is being transformed as we speak, and you rush into battle, knowing there is a chance that you house something far more important than you."

Iris looks away for a moment.

RmFiMbqs.png

"You cut right to it, don't you, Boomingham?

Because I'm afraid. I know I'm the same Iris that got humiliated before - I'm no stronger. Maybe even weaker, because of Seerus. And, unlike all other Oculoids - once again, besides Seerus - I am unqiue, one of kind. And that makes me fear death. Sko I guess you... I guess you could say that I'm... Stalling. I took to the front lines here for one last dance, but... Now it's taking a lot to even resist fleeing.

I could. But I won't."

"To me they're two inky extensions of my body, one black, one red. I've already been marked by you jackasses, might as well embrace my oddball-ness.

Do you really want to call me an urchin? Do you really want to end up like the last megablocks who tried playing mind games with me? Make your move, Iris. I'm ready no matter which way you move." Karie looked ready to pounce, her anger and desperation beginning to show.

"Why do you still hold him in such high regard when you know that he holds no respect or love for you? He was fully prepared to execute you until the other members of our party convinced him to stay his hand. He even referred to you as a useless piece of trash, and yet you still serve him? What did he do to earn that kind of loyalty?" There was an air of genuineness about his question, like he was not trying to convince Iris of anything but rather understand her state of mind.

"Iris, what is the only reason you hold him in that regard? It's because you were made to, and until you realize that, you are fighting a useless cause. Your master assumes you will continue to follow him, but I believe you can change."

RmFiMbqs.png

"You are bound by a contract to kill The Regtret. if you had not signed up to do so, would you have any other motive for doing it? In a similar way, I'm... obligated. I lost my indiviudality down in the Colony. By granting me your false "mercy", I lost my right as an Oculoid to be free.

I deserved my punishment, either way. You humiliaited me, and I failed to kill you. I paid the price for that. But there's still enough of me left to realize it was your party to blame...!"

"Tell us where Seerus is and perhaps we can let you live long enough to see him die. Otherwise..." Mortimer aims his bow carefully at Iris, jaw set.

RmFiMbqs.png

"You gave me mercy once. You won't do it again, hon. I won't let you.

But Seerus, and the new Devil Commander... They're not too far ahead. You'll encounter them within the hour, I imagine."

"Iris, what is the only reason you hold him in that regard? It's because you were made to, and until you realize that, you are fighting a useless cause. Your master assumes you will continue to follow him, but I believe you can change."

RmFiMbqs.png

"It's not useless! There was a clear beginning, and a clear end - erase all humans and make Olegaia into a paradise. It's the most valiant purpose to ever be seen on this planet.

Perhaps I'm useless in this cause now, but... That hardly matters now. I'm just staioned here to stall you, really, while Seerus and The Regret make the finishing touches on Masson.

It pains me to lay down my life for Seerus, but... I'll do it for my master.

Now, come, heroes! Let's put an end to this..."

Trailing off nervously, Iris engages the heroes in one last battle.

qi64g.png

"She's the same Iris she was *wheeze* in the Progg Colony. This won't be too difficult at all, heroes... But I wonder... If she's just stalling us, should we even fight her?"

Mortimer draws back his Blazing Bow and fires at Iris from the back row. He also fires at Tentacle C from the back row.

Boomingham attacks Tentacle B with Scupperer from the back row.

I'll get a battle order up after actions are posted.

QM Note: You should probably post an action for Boomingham - Zepher is out of commission until Tuesday, I believe.
