MKJoshA Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Previously Edited: (Obviously the narator's memory of how the tree looked was a little fuzzy and he has since been reminded of what it really looked like) What it looked like before. The guard in the tree recognized the face of his fellow Blue Wolf and let him pass without asking any questions. If Feanor was in this much of a hurry then there must be something very important that he needed to tell their leader. Edited August 5, 2014 by MKJoshA Quote
Scaevola Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 A nice, thick tree. Nice placement of the foliage too. If you have the pieces however, it would be better taller, but nice work overall. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Nice start- I do agree about it being taller though. I'm not great at trees though myself! Quote
Gunman Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I agree with the guys above regarding the height of the tree, but nice phase 1 moc! Lets see what you come up with for phase 2 Quote
-Horizon- Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Nice start- I do agree about it being taller though. I'm not great at trees though myself! Same here and the figures are nice too. Quote
MKJoshA Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Well thanks guys. I do have more pieces to make it taller, but I wanted it to be short to make the picture look better/be easier to take And since it's a phase 1 I figured it'd work. I already have phase 2 done, but I'm waiting to make sure I "pass" before posting it. Edited August 2, 2014 by MKJoshA Quote
kabel Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 To be honest MK, I think you've done better before. The tree is just way too square for a real tree. You should check the tree tutorial and make a better tree. Quote
Infernum Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Love the use of the Rohan legs with the wolf pack body! The tree could be better, but it's a good phase I entry IMO. Quote

I've already posted phase 2 because I hadn't read this before doing so, but if it's okay I will rebuild this today and post some better pictures in this topic. Love the use of the Rohan legs with the wolf pack body! The tree could be better, but it's a good phase I entry IMO. ThanksI I'm glad you like the minifig and you can see from my response to Kabel that I agree about the tree. I will amend my hurriedness soon! Quote
MKJoshA Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 Sorry for the double post, but I've updated this entry and thought you all would like to know Quote
mccoyed Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Definitely looks better now. That lower branch is a bit awkward but a nice touch in theory because it implies that one could climb the tree. Lego trees often don't look very climbable haha. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Looks much nicer! Great way to explain the change too! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 The tree looks way better now I'll have to remember that trunk technique, it works really well for a medium to large tree Quote
MKJoshA Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Definitely looks better now. That lower branch is a bit awkward but a nice touch in theory because it implies that one could climb the tree. Lego trees often don't look very climbable haha. Yes, I like that it is realistically climbable. I'm curious though, what makes you say it looks awkward? Is it the amount of foliage or lack thereof on it or something else? Looks much nicer! Great way to explain the change too! Thanks Vlad! The tree looks way better now I'll have to remember that trunk technique, it works really well for a medium to large tree Yes, I'm pretty happy with the technique myself. I'm waiting for my Lego store to restock 2x2 log bricks in their pickabrick wall so I can make more than 1 of these at a time. The tree took over 90 of those pieces just for 1! Quote
Maxim I Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Nice round tree! I also love how well the outpost is hidden :) Quote
